Using the right brush head for your teeth and gums matters, and we like that the Pro 1000 can take advantage of Oral-B’s brush head line. The range is the widest of all toothbrush lines, making it easier to customize the brush for one user’s preferences and recommendations from their dentist. Bruce Schechner, a New York-based general and cosmetic dentist, said that “everyone reacts differently” to different brush shapes and sizes, and those factors don’t matter “as long as you’re using one you feel comfortable with.” Wolff said that whether a brush includes elements like rubber flaps doesn’t matter, but brushes should be “soft to medium, at hardest.”
Endocarditis. Endocarditis is an infection of the inner lining of your heart (endocardium). Endocarditis typically occurs when bacteria or other germs from another part of your body, such as your mouth, spread through your bloodstream and attach to damaged areas in your heart.
You should ensure that you remember to change your toothbrush head frequently. This should be at around 3-4 months of use. The longer you use your toothbrush for without replacing the head, the more frayed the bristles will become. Frayed bristles mean that the toothbrush will not be as firm anymore and as a result, it will not be as effective at cleaning your teeth and gums.
Begin using toothpaste to brush your child’s teeth when he (or she) is 2 years old. Young children tend to swallow toothpaste when brushing, rather than spitting it out. Introduce fluoride toothpaste when your child is old enough not to swallow it. As soon as two teeth touch each other, floss between them once a day. You can use regular floss or special plastic floss holders.
The only generic brush heads I’ve purchased that have quality as good as the original brand. Very soft and durable, plastic is high quality. ToothQuake followed up via email to ensure everything was in order. For something as trivial as tooth brush heads ToothQuake goes above and beyond to ensure that quality customer service is first priority.

A little more practical in its design and look than our winner, the Genius 9000 has extensive rubber grips on the rear of the brush handle that comes in White, Black, Silver, Rose Gold and Orchid Purple. Sadly, the Black brush handle does not come with Black brush heads, which is possible with other brands.
I’ve had many of these over the years, older and newer models. They all worked fine. The only thing I don’t like is that once the battery dies (stops holding charge), a mechanically perfect toothbrush has to be tossed out. Most lithium ion batteries last only 2-3 years. The last Oral-B I opened up had a 14430 lithium ion battery in it. Older models used NiMH and NiCd batteries.
Our testing methodology has also changed a little bit, as we now give less preference to smartphone features and more weight to the oscillating and rotatory performance of the toothbrush. Having said that, the Oral-B Genius Pro 8000 remains our top choice for people who are looking to get the most feature-packed model.

This model Sonicare is much smaller than the older model I used to have, and smaller still than even the Oral-B. Still it is large enough to grip easily. It’s also very nicely made, with high-quality plastics and a good feel in the hand. Included with the Sonicare are two brush heads, a charging base, and a hard travel case (which is nice, but I prefer the soft travel cases that the Sonicares used to come with).
In situations like this, experts recommend opting for a model with a choice of intensity settings. Even people with sensitive teeth or gums should be able to find one that’s forgiving. The relatively pricey Oral-B Pro 5000 (starting at $100) offers five brushing modes.
My number one tip for patients is to brush and floss at least twice daily. I recommend they make the switch to using a rechargeable power toothbrush, like one from the Oral-B Professional Care Series. It reduces and reverses gingivitis for healthier gums in 30 days.

Buy new toothbrush heads in bulk to save money. Certain electric toothbrush models have the option to buy their heads in bulk. Look on Amazon or other shopping sites for bulk ways to buy your replacement heads.
Hungry for a midnight snack? Brushing well may clear your teeth of bacteria and food particles, but if you eat a snack afterward, you’ll need to brush again before bed. Having a snack before sleep (without brushing) can allow food particles and sugar to remain on your teeth for too long, providing fuel for bacteria that feeds on it.
It makes sense that most developed countries have more access to dental care, and therefore, their citizens have healthier teeth than people living in poorer regions of the world. However, you may be surprised to learn that several countries in Africa have a fairly low occurrence of cavities. This is because the normal diet in these African countries has a low amount of processed sugars. However, as these countries progress economically, increased tooth decay may follow. Another surprise is that Australia, which is considered to be a first-world country, has a high occurrence of cavities.
If you really want ultrasonic cleaning, you need an ultrasonic toothbrush that vibrates about 100–1000 times faster than conventional rotating or sonic toothbrushes to produce a genuine cavitational cleaning effect. Ultrasonic brushes work in a quite different way from rotating and sonic toothbrushes: they have no electric motor inside:

For states that adopted a CHIP Medicaid expansion program, benefits must align with Medicaid’s Early, Periodic, Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) benefit. This coverage must include relief of pain and infections, teeth restoration and dental health maintenance.
One justification for the high price tag is that it can be used by the whole family. It comes with different colored bands to snap on to the toothbrush heads to keep everyone apart. I wouldn’t have hesitated to buy this for the whole family. I can see it being really helpful in reinforcing the right habits in kids, especially the phone-addicted teenager.
I had just moved to Chicago and decided to go to private dental. (I think they had a groupon deal going on back then). The dental hygienist did a good thorough job even though I think she was a bit aggressive and made my teeth really sensitive afterwards. Dr. King is this fast talking friendly guy. In my experience however he and his entire office will try do a maximum number of procedures with the goal of extracting maximum money from patients. I am sure that is how compensation is based in most dental offices but here the greed is “palpable” compared to my earlier and later experiences.
A professional tooth cleaning happens in a doctor’s office. When a dentist or dental hygienist cleans your teeth they remove soft and hard deposits from your teeth that cause cavities. The main reason of having your teeth cleaned is to prevent or delay the progression of gum diseases.
Nothing but frustration with Phillips USA that owns Sonicare. My product failed and at first Phillips said they would do nothing. Then they agreed to replace it, but sent me a computer battery instead. Then they sent 3 Sonicare AIrfloss. I had to go to the post office four times to return items they sent by mistake. My chats and calls to the company were disconnected. Promises were made then rescinded. In frustration I wrote the CEO about the hours of my time they wasted with their compounded mistakes. Mr Brent Shafer, the CEO waited weeks before they would respond and all they would do is of free couple brush heads – not appropriate in my book given the massive amount of time and frustration they caused me.
The Pro 5000, Black 7000, and White 7000 models provide real-time feedback on your brushing habits by connecting with the Oral-B App on your smartphone, helping you improve your overall oral health.1 Vs. a regular manual toothbrush
Oral-B’s latest electric toothbrush connects to the Oral-B app on your phone. The results? You’ll get real-time feedback on your brushing. You’ll know if you’re brushing too hard, if you’ve brushed long enough and even if your brushing habits have improved over time. The 18-month NJ Smiles initiative engaged the state’s five Medicaid MCOs, NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid, New Jersey Head Start, and other regional partners to improve access to dental care among low-income and minority children. Launched by CHCS in 2007 with funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, NJ Smiles has increased dental service utilization and the establishment of dental homes for this population.
As discussed throughout this report, underserved and vulnerable populations have both distinct and heterogeneous needs. Therefore, all oral health care professionals need to be sufficiently educated and trained to care for a broad range of individuals and populations. This is especially critical for dentists who will be called upon to provide specialized care and treat patients with the most complex needs. However, as discussed in Chapter 3, upon completion of dental school, students may have had few opportunities to integrate their skills and knowledge with practical hands-on experience
The Oral-B Black 7000 SmartSeries with Bluetooth is the world’s first of its kind with Bluetooth connectivity. Bluetooth communication allows the brush to connect with your smartphone to give you real-time feedback on your brushing habits. The professionally inspired design of the CrossAction brush head surrounds each tooth with bristles angled at 16 degrees, and 3D cleaning action oscillates, rotates, and pulsates to break up and remove up to 100% more plaque than a regular manual toothbrush. The pressure sensor lights up if you brush too hard to prevent harmful over-brushing and there are 6 modes and a timer to help you brush for a dentist-recommended 2 minutes. Best of all, it’s brought to you by Oral-B – the #1 brand* used by dentists worldwide.

Oral health and aging. Americans are living longer and keeping more of their teeth in old age. As the elderly population increases, its oral health needs and ability to access care are garnering more attention. About 1 in 5 older Americans has untreated tooth decay, and more than 40 percent have periodontal diseases.12 However, an estimated 70 percent of seniors lack or have limited dental insurance, and fewer than half access dental care each year.13 Research shows that utilization declines with age, particularly because of transportation and mobility challenges.14 Policymakers in 2016 may be more inclined to consider coverage options for this population and to rethink how dental care is delivered to older Americans.

The funny thing about electric toothbrushes is how similar a $70 model is to a $200 one. Once we get past the features mentioned above, there are precious few necessary value-adds to an expensive electric toothbrush: a travel case, a UV sanitizer (which is of negligible use), maybe a couple extra heads, a slightly sleeker body, a longer-lasting battery, auto-syncing with an app (See What about “smart” toothbrushes?). As for sonic cleaning, different cleaning modes, or pressure sensors, experts tell us they are not necessary.

Fading reminder bristles are present to help you recognise when it is time to change the head (recommendation of every 3 months). But better still, if using a Smart Sonicare brush handle the brush will monitor how often the head is used and how hard you brush and remind you at precisely the right time to change.
Oral Health is the practice of keeping mouth and teeth clean in order to avoid all the dental problems which arise due to not maintaining proper oral hygiene. In conditions like gingivitis, periodontitis, and dental trauma, such as subluxation, oral cysts, maintaining good oral practice is must.
