Where Can You Buy Sonicare Brush Heads Plaque Control

This older Oral-B model is still available and still being manufactured. Thus, it comes with a two-year warranty and is about 4 times cheaper than Oral-B’s high tech 7000, 8000 and 9000 series. If you are looking to stay under $60, but still want an electric toothbrush, we highly recommend the Pro 1000 series.
Get regular, professional cleanings. Even if you implement the most rigorous oral hygiene routine at home, you can still benefit from a visit to the dentist every six months or so. Only a dentist can give you the thorough, professional cleaning which will remove the most hard-to-reach plaque and stubborn tartar.
Brio is still considered a novice within the oral health industry. But, that has not halted the company from experiencing a quick growth and amassing a serious and loyal base of followers. Their responsive and hassle-free customer service, as well as their competitive product, have also earned them a place in our top 7 list.
I used to use a rotating brush and graduated to a Sonicare. No comparison. The small brush simply didn’t clean as well. Could you paint as effectively with a small brush as you could with a big one? The smaller brush simply doesn’t have the same amount of coverage in the same amount of time. I’ve had no problem getting into tight areas with my larger brush. It’s the same as with a manual brush.
People swear by all sorts of folk wisdom when it comes to keeping a clean toothbrush. Some run it through the dishwasher. Others soak the head in mouthwash or effervescent denture cleaner. Still others freeze it, boil it or invest in a pricey ultraviolet toothbrush “sanitizer.” Advertising Policy Cleveland Clinic is a non-profit academic medical … Read More
it seems like there’s a bit of a lapse here. you say the Oral-B is better because it is compatible with more brush heads, and yet there seems to be no scientific evidence that different brush heads can clean your teeth better. that’s what we really need. it seems like an unscientific reason to choose the Oral-B for, especially since you refer admiringly to the polishing cup and rubber flap brush heads as if they actually do anything. how do we know they’re not just gimmicks? for all we know the simpler Sonicare brush heads are all you need.
Home to some of the best pay for Dental Hygienists, Seattle offers exceptional salaries, 36 percent above the national average. Dental Hygienists will also find cushy salaries in Boston (+18 percent), Phoenix (+16 percent), Houston (+15 percent), and Austin (+13 percent). Those in the field find the lowest salaries in Pittsburgh, 20 percent below the national average. Employers pay around 13 percent less in Miami and 6 percent less in Charlotte, below-median salaries for those in this field.
You can’t see it, but your brush head wears over time. Blue reminder bristles fade in color to let you know when it’s time to replace the brush head. Dental professionals recommend replacing your brush head every three months. Sonicare technology helps you remove up to two times more plaque compared to a manual toothbrush.
Apparently, Philips is outsourcing not only the manufacture but also the design of those, in which case one has to ask themselves why not get an aftermarket replacement (like http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NN07NT0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage) – it might not be any better but at least it would be cheaper.
One of the fancier brushes in the Sonicare line, the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected not only has far more cleaning settings than you need (three total, each with multiple speeds), it can connect to an app on your phone via Bluetooth that’s meant to track if you’re adequately brushing every part of your mouth. (See the What about “smart” toothbrushes? section) The app shows an illustration of a mouth that starts out tinged yellow, and it gets whiter as you brush your teeth over the course of two minutes. The areas of your mouth that you fail to brush well enough will stay yellow, in theory. In reality, the location tracking wasn’t accurate enough to give us much useful information about this. The app divides the mouth into six areas, and it could reliably tell if I was neglecting either the front or back of teeth, but not if I was missing one specific tooth. The app also expects you to brush the areas of your mouth in a specific order, and if I moved the brush to a part of my mouth where the app wasn’t expecting it to be, it didn’t pick up on that. When a brush like this costs about as much as an uninsured office visit to a dentist, I’m going to stick to getting brushing advice from a professional.
I want to say thank you for the information. For all of you that are talking about its the worst advise. Remember back in the old days there were no dentist, an these remedy she’s talking about with the lemons and other home remedies are what or great Grandparents and relatives use on their teeth. My grandparents and great grandparents all had beautiful health teeth using this method. An I think if it was good for them and they were healthy without all these illnesses we have today. I say do it if you want if you don’t that’s you. But think about all the stuff you put in your mouth on a daily basis. Home Remedies are good. This is a good remedy.
Carol, I hope you are feeling better. I’ll say a prayer for you but it’s already a year later so I hope you are doing well. I hear coconut oil and tumeric powder together are also good to brush your teeth with and leave on for 5 minutes, then brush teeth as normal. I do it once in a while, they say twice a week is good.
Sonicare brushes can offer up to 31,000 strokes per minute so the ProResults GUm Health head has been designed to take advantage of this to effectively clean tooth surfaces that bristles can reach and into deeper gaps between teeth.
In addition to dental and science courses, you’ll also earn a liberal arts education. Classes such as English composition and public speaking will give you a well-rounded experience and prepare you for the working world.
The “ad hominem attack” is yours, claiming I said “it feels cleaner to me” when I said no such thing. My checkups are better, as suspected from the way my teeth feel, but I don’t use “it feels cleaner to me” as evidence.

At about 4.5 ounces, the Philips Sonicare 2 is easy to use and comfortable to hold. It arrived with a bit of a charge, but the manufacturer still recommends an overnight charge before use. Fully charged, it will run for two weeks. As with most of its rivals, its warranty lasts two years. While there are many brush heads in the Philips range, only one comes with the Sonicare 2. Blue “reminder bristles” change to white as they wear down. This color change serves as a reminder to replace the head, and we think it’s an excellent feature.
Attending an accredited dental hygiene school is necessary to become licensed in your state. The Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) reviews a school’s course descriptions, objectives, learning experiences and curriculum content, among other things. This process ensures a school meets high standards and students can rest assured they’re receiving a valuable education.
This discussion however relates how two Sonicare publications reported that two different models whitened teeth to the same degree, yet at that point in time when the separate studies were done, only one of the brushes actually featured a fancy whitening mode. The other just the standard 31,000 stroke/min mode.
The Pro 1000 was also quite comfortable to use. Oral-B models use rotation and pulsation, so its brushes don’t buzz as intensely when the brush’s head touches your other teeth. All Sonicares vibrate at the same (high) frequency and produce a more jarring sensation when the back of the brush collides with other teeth.
Ever wondered how much toothpaste you’re actually supposed to squeeze out? Our dentists explained that a pea-sized amount of toothpaste is all you need for a healthy brush and to prevent dental damage. But don’t rinse afterwards. Rinsing after brushing actually dilutes or washes away the fluoride from toothpaste that’s helping to prevent tooth decay. Instead of rinsing, dental experts recommend that you simply spit out any remaining toothpaste after brushing.
We do think Sonicare toothbrushes are great and important products but just for one main reason, their full-power 31,0000 brush-strokes-per-minute brushing action. (This is labeled as “Clean” mode on almost all models.)
The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. You may not be aware of this but the whole reason to buy a Sonicare is because of its full-power 31,000 brushstrokes-per-minute brushing action. (In some promotional materials this may be stated as the equivalent 62,000 brush movements/minute.)

“Toothbrushes are as individual as automobiles. Everyone has a preference. I personally use a Sonicare DiamondClean toothbrush,” says John Comisi, a dentist based in Ithaca, New York. “I like its small diameter toothbrush head, with a 2-minute timer. It comes with a very convenient travel case. Overall, it is probably the electronic toothbrush I recommend most.”

When left undisturbed, there is a general trend where the types of bacteria that live in these colonies tend to shift from relatively less harmful to more harmful strains. This transformation progresses with each day, week and month.
I then looked up subjective factors. In particular, I was interested in comparing noise levels. I looked up videos on Youtube, and there’s no question that the Sonicare has a more pleasant buzzing sound vs. the more mechanical sound of the Oral-B.
We also looked at reviews from popular American stores, such as Target and Walmart. These stores are good because they allow consumers to freely express their opinion and return merchandise if it is not up to their standards.
I wanted something with a pressure sensor. I like to lift heavy things at the gym and have a tendency to strong arm everything, including brushing my teeth which apparently may have contributed to some gum erosion. The current top model Sonicare (DiamondClean Platinum) does not have a pressure sensor. However, the FlexCare Platinum Connected does come with a pressure sensor. Oral-B models from the 1000 up have a pressure sensor. Based on price, I elected to compare the Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected to the current top model Oral-B, Genius Pro 8000.

Plaque that is not removed can harden into tartar, a hard mineral deposit that forms on teeth and can only be removed through professional cleaning by a dental professional. When this happens, brushing and cleaning between teeth become more difficult, and gum tissue can become swollen or may bleed. This condition is called gingivitis, the early stage of gum disease. Low Cost Sonicare Brush Heads Type

They are actually quieter and vibrates less than older models including DiamondClean. I do not know if they simply swapped connecting part or they did redesign entire upper half; but it is smooth. It may be that since it is bigger, it acts as a better counterbalance to vibration.

I much prefer the smaller circular heads as they are much easier to maneuver around your mouth and especially for spot scrubbing and getting behind the very back molars which is always a problem for me.
The Sonicare FlexCare comes with an interactive smartphone app that is compatible with iPhone and Android. Once you connect the toothbrush to the phone, you can start playing around with the location, pressure and scrubbing sensors. The idea of the app is to make brushing a more interactive process, as well as to help you improve your overall brushing technique.

Besides being a little chunky and not having the best of batteries, the 5 customised brushing modes make this toothbrush both fun and practical. The massage mode is especially relaxing and it felt really good on the gums. While the deep clean might come too strong for new users. The illuminating pressure sensor gives this model a more futuristic feel, which is pretty cool. It also helps you regulate how hard you press your teeth.
According to the American Dental Hygienists Association, there are more than 330 dental hygiene programs offered in the U.S. Most hygienists have at least an associate degree, but some get bachelor’s degrees in dental hygiene – and even master’s degrees to further their careers. To practice, dental hygienists also have to obtain a state-specific license. Although the requirements vary state to state, most require graduation from an accredited program and the completion of a written and practical exam.
But the biggest problem with all these techniques is that you will forget to do it – because it’s a major hassle to remember to put your toothbrush in the microwave twice a day! And recover it when you want to clean your teeth. So it simply doesn’t get done. Instead, putting your toothbrush back where it is always kept (in the UV unit where it automatically gets treated) is a total no-brainer in comparison.
Hi, I’ve been a dental hygienist for almost 9 years and even though I’m currently in the midst of re-negotiating my pay and benefits with my employer, I have been very satisfied with my career overall. I did start out working for different offices but as of the last 6 years or so I’m only at one office and sometimes get calls to sub for another office (for a hygienist on vacation or something). I live in California and my lowest annual income was $68K and that was for working about 3 days a week. Last year I worked 4 days a week and made almost $89K. As a single parent of a daughter about to go off to college I can honestly say it is a great career if you want to be on your own two feet. I get 3 days of sick pay, 4 days of vacation and profit sharing. I was offered medical but it was too expensive so I got my own individual plans. Every career has it’s trade offs, burn outs, complaints and aches and pains but I would pick this one all over again if given the choice.

A person could conclude that the best brush to buy is simply the one that can best overcome any damping effect. And due to the constant improvement of products, that’s most likely to be the newest, latest model available.
I find this very interesting. I have never had an electric toothbrush last more than a couple of years before the battery dies out (slowly at first, then completely). I am actually on this discussion board because the battery on the Oral B, bought approx. 2-3 years ago, now needs an every-other-day charge.
The whitening mode is advertised to remove tooth stains from coffee, red wine, tobacco, tea, and ex-girlfriends. All of this within 14 days. Just kidding about the ex-girlfriend. But, maybe Philips should consider it for their advertisement.
This works 2 ways – firstly by covering your brush head to keep germs away from it, and second by using various essential oils known for killing bugs (e.g. tea tree, clove, peppermint). These are designed to be disposable however, so you are supposed to replace them every 3 months. It’s not my personal choice, but a lot of people swear by these. They cost around $4 each RRP but you can get multi-packs, which can bring the price down a lot.
Remember, it’s not so much about getting your whole mouth clean in less than 2 minutes.  Be willing to give the inside of the lower front teeth the attention necessary to keep this area clean.  Doing so will help the whole mouth stay healthier.
We have to assume that these numbers represent the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP). But on more than one occasion we found online retailers displaying a higher “listed” price (which makes their “discounted” price look better).
You can’t see it, but your brush head wears over time. Blue reminder bristles fade in color to let you know when it’s time to replace the brush head. Dental professionals recommend replacing your brush head every three months. Sonicare technology helps you remove up to two times more plaque compared to a manual toothbrush.
1. The system is designed for only one user. When you insert your brush into the cleaning station, it takes about 8 hours to dry. So if you have a two-person household like me, you’ll have to purchase a second unit. Swapping out the brushes really defeats the purpose of cleaning the brush and then leaving it exposed to germs while cleaning the other. Additionally, that is too much of a hassle.
Some of the downfalls to practicing in different provinces are the different regulations. For instance, in BC, the hygienist cannot provide treatment without the patient receiving a dental exam in the previous 365 days unless the practicing hygienist has an extended duty module (resident-care module). In AB, BC, MB and SK, hygienists also administer local anesthesia if qualified to do so.[6][7][8][9] In Ontario, dental hygienists may take further training to become a restorative dental hygienist. Registered dental hygienists must register every year by December 31. Ontario dental hygienists must also prove continuing competence by maintaining a professional portfolio yearly. In Ontario, dental hygienists are registered with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO). [23]
Design and features: We asked our testers to try the features of their toothbrushes to see which actually encouraged better brushing technique and which were all hype. For instance, the different brushing modes on the Jim Ellis seemed to differ mostly in sound. Our testers for other toothbrushes agreed that differences in brushing modes felt negligible and unnecessary. Some offered features that our testers found helpful, like how the Philips Sonicare 2 Series automatically shuts off after the two-minute timer to prevent over-brushing. Oral-B models will pulse to let you know your time is up, but they don’t turn off. Which means, if you miss the vibration, you can accidentally over-brush and damage your teeth and gums.
STAY AWAY FROM LISTERINE AND ALL THOSE OTHER terrible mouthwashes full of alcohol, chemicals, and all sorts of carcinogens and crap. Flouride (other than the organic form found in soil etc.) is another hot topic and I would highly advise to stay away from it as well. But if you want to keep using fluoride then go ahead but you can at least get a way better than mouthwash than complete and utter trash like listerine,
At minimum a concern involving the possibility of repair would be if the water-tight nature of the brush is compromised. If so, it’s only a matter of time until internal problems develop. We would think Sonicare customer service would be the right place to start with your issue.
Pay by Experience for a Dental Hygiene Instructor has a positive trend. An entry-level Dental Hygiene Instructor with less than 5 years of experience can expect to earn an average total compensation of $54,000 based on 10 salaries provided by anonymous users. Average total compensation includes tips, bonus, and overtime pay. A Dental Hygiene Instructor with mid-career experience which includes employees with 5 to 10 years of experience can expect to earn an average total compensation of $52,000 based on 14 salaries. An experienced Dental Hygiene Instructor which includes employees with 10 to 20 years of experience can expect to earn an average total compensation of $56,000 based on 12 salaries. A Dental Hygiene Instructor with late-career experience which includes employees with greater than 20 years of experience can expect to earn an average total compensation of $69,000 based on 8 salaries.

Guys please decide for yourselves ,,,,, for all those saying that people did not have regular dental visits a century ago, should also know that those people had different eating habits too they were not consuming as much ice creams, soft drinks, chocolates either
Sorry I’m a bit confused. Are you saying you’re not pleased with our review because we didn’t include the voltage information and whether or not the toothbrush will work while traveling abroad? Not being snarky, just trying to get a better idea of why you’re disappointed with this.
Third party or aftermarket alternatives can be purchased. It is advised to only use Philips Sonicare brush heads with the brush handles as performance and wear on the brush using other brush heads cannot be guaranteed.

Sonicare Brush Heads Bed Bath And Beyond Auction

Brush your teeth twice daily. Brushing your teeth is by far the most effective way of removing plaque, and brushing properly and regularly will help to ensure that less plaque builds up over time. This is important as built-up plaque can calcify into tartar, which is a lot harder to remove. You should brush your teeth once a day at the very least, but dentists recommend brushing twice; once in the morning and once before bed.[3]
The Dr. Collins Perio Toothbrush is unique because it has innovative tapered filaments that penetrate deep between the teeth and around the gums to remove plaque and debris, which offers a flossing effect. The super-slim tapered polyester bristles are less porous than nylon bristles and reduce tooth abrasion to save your tooth enamel. The bristles minimize bacterial growth and will stay put, so you won’t have to worry about them falling out or wearing out. In fact, the bristles are expected to last about 50% longer than a traditional toothbrush.
Brushing timers – Smartimer / KidTimer – All Sonicare models come with some type of brushing timer, which usually runs on the order of two minutes or longer. Some people like having a timer because it helps them achieve a higher level of brushing discipline. Others find them annoying. (This feature typically cannot be deactivated.)
When you first wear braces you will likely be told the importance of cleaning effectively around braces to avoid staining of when it comes to removal.  The natures of braces offers up lots of areas for small food particles to stick to.
This was one of the most effective and entertaining brushes that we tested. Made out of white molded plastic, the Sonicare FlexCare Platinum was among the lightest brushes that we tested. The metallic control panel gives this model a very modern and sophisticated feel.
My dentist recommended a Sonicare to me after a horrendous cleaning back in late ’99/early ’00. It must have been the top-of-the-line at the time, as it was $90 his price to clients and he said that was heavily discounted. It lasted about 2 weeks between chargings (lithium ion) for years, but has slowly degenerated to requiring almost daily charging. So now I’m in the market for a replacement, and, like other commenters, can’t believe the number of models available! Having gotten great value out of the last one, I’ll definitely buy another Sonicare, probably the HealthyWhite+. Your research and approach are much appreciated, so a big thank you!
It’s important for you to understand that the fluid-dynamics cleaning action of a sonic brush (the cleaning effect that occurs beyond where the tips of its bristles actually touch) is not 100% effective in removing dental plaque.
Note: We haven’t yet completed our update of this page for Spring 2018. If you’re looking for information about Sonicare’s new ProtectiveClean line (models 6100, 5100 and 4100) and how they will fit into our Best Sonicares drill down on this page, the information you want can be found here.

In addition, some electric toothbrushes, like the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean, offer more than one way of charging. One is through the easy use of a USB, and the other through a standard charging station. The convenience of charging may not be a big deal to everyone, but it is a diverse functionality nevertheless.
Microwaves and dishwashers are pretty effective at killing bacteria. For instance, the microwave produces radiation while the dishwasher uses soap and hot water to get the job done. Similarly soaking your brush in mouthwash or white vinegar will help. As will rubbing just one drop of Dental Pro 7 into the bristles of your brush.
FWIW, I bought an Oral-B ProfessionalCare 1000 based on the recommendation here, after I lost my 4000. The 4000 cleaned my teeth much more thoroughly–I can often feel some guck on my teeth after using the 1000, which never happened with the 4000. The 4000 “pulsates” at 40,000 pulsations/minute, compared with teh 20,000 for the 1000. YMMV, but the 4000 works a lot better for me.
It is worth noting that our previous pick, named the Oral-B Pro 1000 (also known in some contexts as the Healthy Clean Precision 1000), is still available and is functionally identical to the current Pro 1000. At the time of our last review, the Healthy Clean Precision 1000 included one of the pressure sensors we mentioned earlier, but despite what the Amazon listing says, the model we tested did not include it. The Healthy Clean Precision, therefore, is essentially the same toothbrush; it just comes in a different color and with a different brush head. Online pricing can be fluid and seems to be influenced by the popularity of an item, so get the one you can find cheaper.
Hello guys! Thank you so much for all of the reviews about the Sonicares. However I still don´t know which one to buy. My main reason for buying a Sonicare is because it should whiten the teeth. Should I get the Healthy White or all the other similar ones will do the job?
In their earlier work, the researchers showed how certain mechanisms regulated by vitamin D3 help clear amyloid-beta, the abnormal protein found in sticky plaques that clog up the important communication space between brain cells in people with Alzheimer’s.
Dental plaque is difficult to see unless it’s stained. You can stain plaque by chewing red “disclosing tablets,” found at grocery stores and drug stores, or by using a cotton swab to smear green food coloring on your teeth. The red or green color left on the teeth will show you where there is still plaque—and where you have to brush again to remove it.
As compared to higher-end Sonicare’s, this brush’s mechanism seems noisy and less refined. Some commenters on this page have complained that they consider this brush under powered as compared to models they have used before. (We have more to say about these issues below.)
Two-minute timer: The single most recommended feature, a two-minute timer takes the guesswork out of your brushing sessions to ensure your teeth get enough time under the bristles. Brushing under the American Dental Association’s recommended two minutes can result in a less effective clean. Dr. Lawlor told us, “patients say they brush for three to five minutes, but when they brush in front of me it will be less than a minute.” Most electric toothbrushes now offer this reality-check timer as a standard feature, regardless of price.
“The crux of this issue is that the Sonicare has no clinical evidence to show that it’s better at cleaning than a normal brush whereas the Oral-B does. Lots of it. You can click the links and read the papers for yourself.”
Both Dr. McConnell and Casper say that sonic toothbrushes tend to work better because they’re similar to the microsonic scaler equipment used in a professional clinic. Microsonic scaler technology removes both the biofilm (goo) and calculus (hard deposits) on teeth.
Take advantage of this by being a model patient. Brush and floss regularly. Eat a healthy diet, filled with plenty of fruit and vegetables. And keep up with regular check-ups and appointments, because your visits to the dentist are what determine whether you need a quick clean or a more extensive treatment. To make the former more likely, give your teeth the tender love and care that they deserve.
We tested this particular model by switching between the five available modes. It is likely that the battery could last a bit longer if you only use the daily clean mode. Other available modes include gum care, sensitive, whitening, and pro-clean.
A 2014 study published in the Journal of Oral Health and Dental Management found that aloe vera demonstrates a similar effect on plaque and gingivitis compared with the benchmark control chlorhexidine mouthwash.
As we noted earlier in this guide, brush heads are a matter of personal preference of size, shape, and material. A number of third-party brands make replacement heads for Oral-B toothbrushes that tend to be much cheaper. There are some reports in user reviews that these aftermarket brushes sometimes do not fit or are of a lower quality than branded brushes, and the heads tend to be rated lower. Pay close attention when shopping for brush heads to what is “Oral-B” vs. “Oral-B compatible.”
Wow. I have now bought and own both a FlexCare and a DiamondClean model. The difference in vibration between these models and the 2 Series is many times over. My teeth feel much cleaner, the strength/power of the vibrations is much more intense with these higher end models.
(b) Use Periogen when brushing by applying a scoop to a cup of warm water add some natural or simple toothpaste to your toothbrush stir the toothbrush in the warm mixture and brush repeat again until satisfied.
This means that all of the brush heads offered by Sonicare work with almost all of the electric toothbrushes.  There are a few odd exceptions, notably older Sonicare toothbrush models that have different attachments, screw on rather than click on).

Discounted Oral Hygiene In The Middle Ages

(c)This is a very old method used by people in Africa, chew some sesame seeds then brush your teeth the oil in the seed are known to break down tartar. Not many people are allergic sesame seeds so be careful.
Overall though, this is a great little addition to our overall dental care hygiene. I purchased this during a Black Friday sale for a great price. Should that price re-emerge, I’ll purchase a second one.
2. Fit a brush head by pushing the metal tip of the brush motor at the top of the brush handle into the hole in the bottom of the brush head.  As the two are pushed together there will be a click, the head is now attached.
Brush is still working great, but I have noticed that anything liquid will start to get between the brush-head and the unit. While I wiped it dry with a tower after every use and I cleaned it weekly, as directed, by removing the brush-head and wiping down both the unit and the base, I noticed, after about two months, the metal tip that moves the brush-head was stained a rust-color. I tried removing it with no luck. And while it has not affected the performance of the unit, it is an obvious design-flaw since the unit must be turned upside down to charge and clean, thus letting gravity push the liquid that has seeped between the brush-head rubber and the brush-unit to collect at the base of the brush-head, leaving the metal head to sit in the goop. So now I make sure I clean it with a dry cloth more often and I use a q-tip to remove the saliva, toothpaste, and water that collects inside the brush-head.
Proper tooth brushing is critically important to good dental hygiene. Parents can help their children practice proper tooth brushing by starting to clean teeth early, using the right amount of fluoride toothpaste, supervising tooth brushing, and talking to a pediatrician or dentist about a child’s specific fluoride needs. More information on caring for children’s teeth may be found at CDC’s Brush Up on Healthy Teeth pages.
I used a couple tubes of whitening toothpaste way back then and it had no effect. Once I switched to a Sonicare powered toothbrush using these brush heads, I saw my teeth get a couple of shades whiter
It seems to us that you could make that case. But we’d also suggest that setting that requirement might indicate that the way the brush is being used isn’t the manner for which it was designed. We’ll also state that the purpose of our review is one of making reasonable choices, balancing cost and capabilities.
Working side-by-side with a dentist, your main concern will be preventative oral health care, cleaning patients’ teeth and educating them about caring for their teeth and gums. You’ll provide advice for the use of the best oral care equipment, and you’ll use a variety of tools to clean and polish teeth, including scrapers, ultrasonic, power and laser devices. You’ll also take and develop X-rays and document your patient’s treatment and new and ongoing issues.
Don’t let a high salary after 2 yrs of training convince you to become a dental hygienist. As others have said, it is monotonous, leaves you with neck/wrist damage, and doesn’t provide transferable skills to another career. Appt times are getting shorter, so one must cut corners to “complete” procedures. I regret my decision to become an hygienist.
For the person who commented about recurring strep throat…gargle with salt water – one part salt to 2 parts warm to hot but not boiling water. Gargle 3x per day for a couple days. The salt kills strep.
There is a very good reason why commercial toothpaste recipes almost always contain fluoride. This substance strengthens the tooth enamel and lessens the risk of decay from acidic foods and drinks. In fact, it actually helps decayed teeth to heal and regenerate. The only problem is that this process occurs too slowly for brushing alone to prevent cavities. You also need to eat a healthy diet and steer clear of sugary snacks.
The Flexcare+ model is expensive, but it is really worth the (extra) money. It is rarely I am so happy with a product. The only negative things about it is that the charging time is little long, but on the other hand the time between the charging is around the 3 weeks claimed from Philips, which is excellent. The dropping in performance is not disturbing at all. You will notice a powerup after charging, but it runs very good until you need to charge it and the brushing experience is at an extremely high level all the time.
Suitable for a variety of users, but particularly those looking to improve gum health.   In just 2 weeks the results can be seen and Phillips suggest up to 7 times more plaque removal than a manual brush.
I love not having to work all week if I don’t want to…Truthfully I’d recommend that a hygienist NOT work full time if they are financially able… It’s a great job but it can definitely wear you out if you have a full day with a lot of pts.
I have used an electric toothbrush for almost 7 years. I have had three total – two Sonicares and the Oral-B recommended in this post. The $$ involved for electric toothbrushes gives me pause but I cannot go back to manual (goosebumps).
In our days, leading classifications of electric toothbrushes are based on the design and mechanism of their brush head action. On one hand, we have the oscillating toothbrush. In this case, the head spins around the tooth in one direction or the other in a rotary-like movement. On the other hand, there is the sonic toothbrush, which produces high vibrations from side-to-side.
No, it’s not. Baking soda is pure sodium bicarbonate and while baking powder contains some sodium bicarbonate, it also contains cream of tartar and some type of starch. They are both used as leavening agents. Hope this helps.
Plaque is the accumulation of bacteria, dead cells, and debris on your teeth. It is invisible to the eye, but is harmful to the teeth as it interacts with certain foods, releasing an acid which causes tooth decay. Built-up plaque can also turn into tartar, which is much harder to remove, and can cause gum recession and inflammation. Removing plaque is very easy to do, as it involves little more than an effective cleaning!
Hi Dental Staff – I wanted to reply to your message as I have now tried out the other models after initially getting a 2 Series. The 2 Series was nice, but I got the feeling it was not the full experience.
Pro 8000 allows for a 16-degree tooth cleaning and it comes with 6 different cleaning modes to accommodate users with more sensitive teeth and gums. The greatest downside is that the price tag is at around $120.
This enzyme can help to strengthen the walls of the arteries and cleans out plaque. Some is made in the body and foods containing CoQ10 are lean meats, canola oil, and broccoli, cauliflower and CoQ10 supplements.
However, if you prefer a larger brush, the Deep Sweep has performed favorably to Sonicare brushes in clinical studies: http://www.dentalcare.com/media/en-US/research_db/pdf/products/8week-eval-benefits-multidirectional.pdf
A 2014 study published in the Journal of Oral Health and Dental Management found that aloe vera demonstrates a similar effect on plaque and gingivitis compared with the benchmark control chlorhexidine mouthwash.

Q: How did the noise on the Sonicare Series 2 compare with the other Sonicare brushes you tested? The reviews on Amazon seem to indicate that it’s significantly louder and that the heads don’t fit as well.
Cleaning your teeth properly twice a day for 2 minutes each time is the most important part here.  Our full guide explains how to brush your teeth with an electric toothbrush as a poor teeth cleaning approach is more damaging than the incorrect brush head. The reality is each brush head can just give that extra bit of focus in achieving and assisting oral health care goals.

The brushes themselves are small than those of philips’ brushes and cut into wavy shapes to fit the Outlines of each tooth. They are soft and round tips to prevent excessive abrasions of your gums. However, they are very durable because I bought the first one (this is about a month ago, still half the life span).
But what we can share is this: 1) Our opinion/impression of each of the models (admittedly however unscientific that is), 2) What people have posted in our comments section below (thank you to those who do) and 3) What seems to be the collective opinion of consumers who have posted comments on retailer websites.
Tooth decay (cavities) is a common problem for people of all ages. For children, untreated cavities can cause pain, absence from school, difficulty concentrating on learning, and poor appearance, all problems that greatly affect quality of life and ability to succeed. Children from lower income families often do not receive timely treatment for tooth decay and are more likely to suffer from these problems. Tooth decay also is a problem for many adults. Adults of some racial and ethnic groups experience more untreated decay.
The Sonicare 2 includes the two-minute timer and rechargeable battery. When we first tested this model, it did not have the 30-second pacing timer, but we recently confirmed with Philips that current Series 2 handles now come with a quadrant timer. We don’t think the pacing timer is absolutely necessary, but it’s nice that the line now has this feature.

Plaque is a sticky bacteria that sticks to your teeth. When plaque is not removed through brushing and flossing, it turns into tartar. Try one of our toothpastes which reduces plaque and tartar build up.

Don’t overlook the fact that the vast majority of cleaning accomplished by any type of electric is due to bristle-to-tooth contact. The effectiveness of non-contact brushing comes in at a very distant 2nd.
This information was exactly what I was looking for and this site is probably the best product comparison website I have ever seen. Keep up the good work! I couldn’t find any affiliate links so that I could order through the site however…but maybe I missed them?

Hi Lisa! Yes, you can soak it in there for a while. I wouldn’t use it as a resting place for the toothbrush. I guess you could if you rinsed really thoroughly before using. I just wouldn’t want any residual vinegar on the toothpaste that I needed to brush with. Good luck!
Capable of removing up to 6 times more plaque than a manual toothbrush after 4 weeks use, the densely-packed, and high-quality tufts of bristles found on ProResults Gum Health brush heads help to effectively remove plaque and improve gum health.
Every state requires dental hygienists to be licensed; requirements vary by state. In most states, a degree from an accredited dental hygiene program and passing grades on written and clinical examinations are required for licensure. To maintain licensure, hygienists must complete continuing education requirements. For specific requirements, contact your state’s Board of Dental Examiners.
The tongue contains numerous bacteria which causes bad breath. Tongue cleaners are designed to remove the debris built up on the tongue. Using a toothbrush to clean the tongue is another possibility, however it might be hard to reach the back of the tongue and the bristles of the toothbrush may be too soft to remove the debris. Some may find it easier to use a tongue scraper instead because it does not tend to cause a gag reflex as readily as a toothbrush.[1] Steps of using a tongue scraper:
As you’ll see below there’s a giant price difference between the top and bottom-end Sonicares. And based on this single factor alone, it’s easy enough to anticipate that while some models may share similar features and specifications, they’re probably not really equals. (It’s been our experience that some Sonicare representatives are pretty quick to harp this point when you call with questions.)
They found that both the active forms of vitamin D3 and omega 3 DHA improved the ability of the macrophages from the Alzheimer’s patients’ blood samples to absorb amyloid beta. They also noticed there was less of the cell-death that is normally triggered by amyloid beta.
Overall though, this is a great little addition to our overall dental care hygiene. I purchased this during a Black Friday sale for a great price. Should that price re-emerge, I’ll purchase a second one.

In addition, we invested over 50 hours in researching, evaluating, and testing the best powered toothbrushes widely available to find the best one. (On a personal note, the last time I went to get my teeth cleaned, both the dentist and hygienist tripped over themselves to compliment the condition of my teeth, even though I hadn’t gotten a cleaning in three years, drink coffee every day, and eat healthy sums of candy.)
About 95 percent of dental hygienists were employed in dentists’ offices as of 2011, where they earned an average of $33.69 an hour and $70,070 a year in 2011. The few employed by outpatient care centers made an average of $69,220 a year, and those working in physician’s offices made an average of $64,160 a year. Nearly 600 dental hygienists were employed directly by the federal government in 2011, reporting a relatively low average salary of $53,960 a year.
Avoid brushing with pressure when you use baking soda as toothpaste. Also, do not use baking soda for more than five days in a row because it is abrasive and may damage your tooth enamel if you use it too often.
Dentists recommend you brush your teeth for two minutes twice daily. A built-in timer, which either switches the toothbrush off at the two-minute mark or vibrates to indicate the time is up, makes it easier to achieve this goal.
It truly amazes me how gross my refrigerator can get in such a short amount of time. Drips all over the interior. Leftovers pushed back into the great unknown and moisture builds up on the shelves. It’s no wonder the kids stand in front of it with the door open, and proclaim, “WE DON’T HAVE […]
Provides Gentle Brushing. If you have sensitive gums, brushing causes a lot of pain and discomfort. Sonic toothbrushes feature brush heads with soft bristles that are designed for gentle brushing. Also, these brushes have a separate sensitive mode of brushing.

In addition to dental and science courses, you’ll also earn a liberal arts education. Classes such as English composition and public speaking will give you a well-rounded experience and prepare you for the working world.
I like the product very much. I just received it yesterday, but I was having trouble with the connection. The usb did not fit well into the plug provided by the product. The light did not go on, so I knew it was not cleaning the brush. I connected the usb to my cell phone charger plug and it works well. I would like the company to send me a replacement plug, so I don’t have to use my cell charger.
Here at the Strategist, we like to think of ourselves as crazy (in the good way) about the stuff we buy, but as much as we’d like to, we can’t try everything. Which is why we have People’s Choice, in which we find the best-reviewed (that’s four-to-five-star reviews and lots of ’em) products and single out the most convincing. While we’ve written before about a certain splurgy Sonicare electric toothbrush (which makes an appearance on this list), an impressive self-cleaning electric toothbrush, and a charcoal toothbrush beloved by The Wing’s Audrey Gelman, here we’re investigating the best electric toothbrushes on Amazon. (Note that reviews have been edited for length and clarity.)
CVS Rechargeable Sonic (discontinued): Not too expensive as brushes go, but requires users to press the power button multiple times to cycle through the superfluous brushing modes to turn the brush off.
The longer that plaque stays on the tooth surface, the harder and more attached to the tooth it becomes. That is when it is referred to as calculus and needs to be removed by a dental professional.[1] If this is not treated, the inflammation will lead to the bone loss and will eventually lead to the affected teeth becoming loose.[13]
Single-tufted brushes are a tool in conjunction with tooth brushing.[37] The tooth brush is designed to reach the ‘hard to reach places’ within the mouth. This tool is best used behind the lower front teeth, behind the back molars, crooked teeth and between spaces where teeth have been removed.[38] The single- tufted brush design has an angled handle, a 4mm diameter and rounded bristle tips.[38]
In the late 1800s dental disease prevention methods became popular amongst dentists and dental nurses, with dentists being trained to perform routine prophylaxis treatment in the fight against dental disease. During this period D. D. Smith of Philadelphia demonstrated the prophylactic methods to his colleagues and patients and the acceptance of his theories become increasingly popular.[9]
This is definitely the best brush for the buck since it uses new click style and have full cleaning power. I wouldn’t consider older Essence model at all due to lack of brushhead choices and difficulty of cleaning. I’m surprised they are still selling them considering Essence+ is out.
The better you take care of your teeth, the less plaque and tartar will accumulate on them. You should brush your teeth at least twice per day, and floss once, to prevent plaque buildup. Also, be sure to visit your dentist regularly for preventative care and tartar removal. Taking good care of your teeth will keep you healthy in long run.
That said, I was working full time and making a solid salary, but I went into hygiene with the same idea you have. I am in school again and working two days a week. I actually got a raise switching to part time (2days/week) (lost my benefits though – something to consider), but am making almost the same salary as I was working full time.

I much prefer the smaller circular heads as they are much easier to maneuver around your mouth and especially for spot scrubbing and getting behind the very back molars which is always a problem for me.
Compared to Sonicare, you’re much more limited in brush head style and size. However, the small, pointed Precision Tip is a design not duplicated in the Sonicare line and could be a valuable aid for some. Overseas travelers may be inconvenienced by the lack of 220volt charging.
First, I asked two friends who are dentists what they prefer. One friend strongly recommended the Sonicare FlexCare+, stating that the top of the line models are not any better. The other provided a similar recommendation to my dentist – either one will be a huge improvement over a manual brush. So slight tilt to the Sonicare at this point. Very slight because not much detail was provided as to why the Sonicare was better. Just a “trust me, get this” endorsement.
I finally decided to board the Sonicare train and thought I just have to go to Amazon, click on “Sonicare”, and buy one. Who knew there were so many different models? I despaired of ever figuring out which ones had which features until I found this site. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Bookmarking the page so I can send other people to it when they have questions.
We found the downfall of the 7000 model in its NiMH battery. When brushing twice a day, while connected to the app, the battery only lasted for 8 days. Compared to other similar toothbrushes, this is not cool, to say the least. Especially when it takes 24 hours to fully charge the battery.
This means that all of the brush heads offered by Sonicare work with almost all of the electric toothbrushes.  There are a few odd exceptions, notably older Sonicare toothbrush models that have different attachments, screw on rather than click on).
Single-tufted brushes are a tool in conjunction with tooth brushing.[37] The tooth brush is designed to reach the ‘hard to reach places’ within the mouth. It can easily be argued that each brush head within the Sonicare range is specialist, in that they are each designed to do something specific.  However, the following are even more specialist.  Technically, these are not brush heads, they are nozzles.

On the Amazon page you mention we see a claim of “proven to reduce gingivitis up to 100% better than a manual toothbrush.” However on the company’s website couldn’t find a page detailing this “study.” (Their website also seemed to lack information about a physical address for the company, or even what company actually owned/ran this business. Even their domain name registration hid this information.)
A lot of what we eat and drink remains in our mouths long after we’ve finished. Bacteria in our mouths thrive on many of these foods — namely sugars and carbohydrates — and produce acids that can attack the tooth surface. Additionally, if proper flossing and tooth brushing are not conducted efficiently each day this leads to more plaque and tartar development. Tartar gives plaque more surface area on which to grow and a much stickier surface to adhere to.
Brushing modes: Different brushing modes — like teeth whitening, gum massaging, and pro-cleaning — change the number of oscillations or vibrations per minute. However, we couldn’t find concrete evidence that these different modes were doing what they promised. In contrast, studies show that simply brushing for two minutes with proper technique, using effective toothpaste, and flossing will live up to the promise of better dental health.
Many Sonicare brushes feature Quadpacer or BrushPacer. These functions signal when you should advance to cleaning the next portion of your mouth. Not everyone values this type of indicator. We state below which models allow you to deactivate it.
This is the main focus of this page. Trying to determine which model seems to make a best (most reasonable) choice in terms of effectiveness, functionality, reliability and so forth, while also keeping cost to a minimum.
Having up to 31,000 brush strokes per minute, this model is slower than the diamond clean. But, do not fool yourself. If you have never used an ultrasonic toothbrush before, you will feel the vigorous power of this elegantly designed teeth cleaning gadget. Despite being slower, the 2 Series Sonicare is also considerably cheaper and it works wonders for removing plaque and eliminating destructive bacteria in your mouth.
As another alternative to Sonicare, you might consider the WaterPik Sensonic Professional Plus (SR-3000). As with the Pulsonic, its features list places it in the same general category as the Sonicare models we discuss on this page.
Teeth Whitening and Stain Removing. The fast speed of strokes helps to effectively deal with stains on the teeth. Generally, people who have been using a toothbrush with sonic technology for a week have noted that their teeth got a shade brighter. These toothbrushes also sometimes or offer to buy additionally special brush heads specifically designed for polishing and whitening the teeth.
These are excellent replacement brush heads for the Sonicare toothbrush. I tried an off-brand replacement before that did not fit the toothbrush. These fit perfectly and very snug! I’ve been using it for about a week now and I’m still very pleased with my purchase. They are a little softer than I’m use to, but I don’t mind…especially when consider that an 8-pack is only $14 compared to a 2-pack of the Sonicate brand for between $20-$30! If you’re looking for a high-quality, inexpensive replacement, look no further.
AMEN, James!!! I LOVE that “fresh clean” feeling that I have first following a thorough cleaning at the dentist office. However, not everyone can AFFORD to have dental services done. This article helps those of us who don’t have $$$ to pay for the “luxury” of seeing a dentist
Hyposmia is a partial or complete loss of the sense of smell. It can be disturbing for the individual, but it can also be hazardous if they cannot detect, for example, a toxic gas. Causes include allergies and head injuries. It may be linked to diabetes and multiple sclerosis (MS). Treatment will depend on the cause.
I’ve been using Sonicare brushes and brush-heads for a dozen years now and this is the first time (2014) I’ve experienced bad quality. Each of the two heads in the package (one I was using, the other – my son, in his identical E-series) experienced the same problem: only a couple of months into using it, the brush started making a strong noise and the vibration weakened significantly, to the point where it wasn’t cleaning at all. I looked carefully at the brush and noticed that the base of the head, which contains a couple of rare-earth magnets, seated on a steel plate, had become loose and was hanging on the plastic tab that protrudes from a hole in the plate (see accompanying pictures). The exact same problem on each brush-head, a clear sign of poor design and execution.
Keeping the Aura Clean Toothbrush in first class condition takes place within the Aura Clean Base Station. Inside is a ring of UV-C light that attacks pathogens from all angles. The Aura Clean Base Station keeps the brush head protected, clean and away from environmental contaminants and also dries the brush head while charging – allowing the brush ready for use when you are.
Maybe he/she is from Alabama. I know a guy who visited there once and said his neighbor was a flat-earther and believed there was only 10 million people in the world and that the world is overpopulated.
The Sonicare for Kids is our top pick for this category because it both trains and encourages kids to brush properly. In addition, the handle is closer in size to adult models than the Oral-B Disney’s, which means it isn’t too big now, and your kids won’t outgrow this $40 toothbrush too quickly. Instead, they’ll be able to improve their technique and become familiar with using a traditionally-sized electric toothbrush as they develop more dexterity.
When you’re ready to become licensed, contact your state boards to find out what requirements need to be fulfilled. Typically, you’ll need to pass a national board exam and a state or regional clinical exam. In addition, you’ll need to be CPR-certified and undergo a background check as well as completing continuing education courses on an ongoing basis throughout your career.
Use a fluoride toothpaste. If your child is less than 7 years old, put only a pea-sized amount on their toothbrush. Seek advice from a dentist or other health care professional before introducing fluoride toothpaste to children under 2 years of age.
And finally, snacking on aged cheeses (like Swiss or cheddar) can be a great way to neutralize the acids that accumulate right after meals. As these acids are what contribute to plaque build ups, you now have a perfectly valid excuse to be indulging your penchant for fine fromages. According to scientists, there is an element in aged cheese that acts as a buffering agent and a barrier for plaque. You can also find the same element in peanuts and sesame seeds.
Without proper treatment, tartar and plaque can lead to a variety of issues like cavities, gum disease and tooth loss. It’s important to brush twice a day and floss once a day, and schedule regular checkups and professional cleanings with your dentist.
Well hate to break it to you but it does NOT work!! Dental schools are reduced fees to benefit the students and YOU, it is not the 25th caller it is anyone who cares enough to want good oral health which also increases good overall health. PleAse think before you believe some nonsense you read on the Internet.
Use your eyes to protect your teeth. “When you can visually see discoloration, buildup or matting of the bristles, it’s time to change the toothbrush,” says Dr. Kahn. “It should look clean and straight.” Rinse well to dislodge any chunks of residual toothpaste.
Personal satisfaction: One of the most enjoyable aspects of a career in dental hygiene is working with people. Personal fulfillment comes from providing a valuable health care service while establishing trusting relationships with patients.
Everyone develops plaque because bacteria are constantly growing in our mouths, so it is not easy to see. Plaque that is not removed from around the gum line can cause inflammation and irritation to the gums around your teeth.
Our original goal for this page was one where our analysis would simply be based on a comparison of models according to their features, as documented by information collected from Philips Sonicare websites, publications, user manuals and support representatives.

Second, we only reviewed toothbrushes that are using rechargeable batteries. We have come to the conclusion that the rechargeable models are far better investments then the ones that use disposable batteries. Following this, we were able to lower the number of toothbrushes we wanted to review to 52.
The game to successfully removing plaque from the inside of the lower front teeth is to put the tip of the brush angled down under your tongue and have the brush handle sticking up out of your mouth, just like my thermometer story.
As many others have already said, what I received appear to be either non-OEM brush heads, or were defective in some way. In my case, the bristles looked like they had been lopped off with a pair of scissors – they were less than 1/4 of an inch long and cut in a very irregular fashion. Brown cardboard packaging may or may not be from Philips… I will steer clear of these in the future. Thanks Amazon for the refund.
All Sonicare toothbrushes come with a brush head to help you benefit from the incredible cleaning power of the brand’s sonic technology. Like manual toothbrushes, the power toothbrush heads become worn due to the friction of brushing and can begin to harbor bacteria over time. As a result, Sonicare recommends that the brush heads for all of their models be replaced every 3 months. This helps to keep Sonicare toothbrushes sanitary and functioning at their best. In addition to the standard brush heads sold with Sonicare products, the brand also offers specialty heads that can be used in a variety of their sonic toothbrush models. These heads can help you to address oral care concerns that you may have, such as reducing staining from drinking coffee and tea or removing more plaque from along the gum line. By choosing the right head for your Sonic toothbrush, you can optimize the cleaning power of the sonic movements to better meet the needs of your teeth and gums.
How is the Sonicare Series 2 with the tongue cleaner and spray compare to a regular series 2? It is important for me that I am able to properly clean my tongue and in my experience electric toothbrushes tend to be tricky at that.

Plaque Removal Near Me Promo Codes

Philips development team have engineered this brush head to make best use of the sonic motion that a Sonicare handle can offer. The dynamic fluid action that is created as a result of the high frequency and high-amplitude brush movements works to offer a deep cleaning action from all areas of the brush head, driving fluid deep between the teeth and along the gumline.
These electric toothbrushes vibrate an astonishing 30,000+ times per minute. The high speed loosens and removes plaque, food bits, and bacteria from the surfaces of the teeth, between the teeth, and even slightly below the gum line. The speed also induces a fluid dynamic inside your mouth, which helps to remove bacteria even slightly beyond the tip of the toothbrush’s bristles. On the downside, some users don’t like the feel of the vibration, and others find sonic toothbrushes irritating to their gums.
Maintaining good oral hygiene is one of the most important things you can do for your teeth and gums. Healthy teeth not only enable you to look and feel good, they make it possible to eat and speak properly. Good oral health is important to your overall well-being.
I really like this system- seems to clean my teeth better than other brushes- also like the pause that lets you know you have cleaned one side long enough- this helps in not doing a sloppy job of cleaning. I have tried several other power toothbrushes and this is my favorite. I would say definitely worth the price. And this is an independent review – no samples for me!!
Sonicare replacement heads for Philips sonic heads work and fit good on my son’s electric Sonicare toothbrush. It would be good having an extra toothbrush head in handy, so replace them when needed. The product is a good value for the price and working good. The brush self is the very soft brush. it comes with each individual cap, so good to store/carry the toothbrush.
The Goby Electric Toothbrush is only a few dollars more than our other picks and comes with the same no-frills features: a two-minute timer that shuts the brush off at the end, plus a quadrant timer to prompt you to switch areas every 30 seconds. Goby offers an “optional” brush head subscription service—however, keep in mind that you can’t get new brush heads anywhere else and there is only one kind available. Unlike the Sonicare, there is no travel case to stash your brush head.
During the research process, we spoke with several experts on the subject of dentistry, including dental school faculty at leading research universities, a professional dentist, and a consumer advisor appointed by the American Dental Association (ADA), which confers a Seal of Acceptance on dental care products that seek the certification and meet a set of agreed-upon criteria.
The Genius Pro 8000 is preceded by the 6000 model and followed by the 9000 model. The reason we chose to feature this particular model in our list, is because it has the most positive customer reviews. Additionally, the 8000 series offers many improvements compared to the 6000 model. While the Genius Pro 9000 did not improve much when compared to the Pro 8000.
If the battery dies prematurely, contact customer service about it. I’m sure they’ll be happy to send out a new one. However, if it’s lasted a few years and the battery is no longer charging, it’s probably best to replace the entire unit itself.
It truly amazes me how gross my refrigerator can get in such a short amount of time. Drips all over the interior. Leftovers pushed back into the great unknown and moisture builds up on the shelves. It’s no wonder the kids stand in front of it with the door open, and proclaim, “WE DON’T HAVE […]
However, you can Bass brush this surface if you use just the tip of your brush rather than try to fit the whole brush head laying on its side in your mouth.  Using just the front tip of your Bass brush, wiggle the bristles into the gum line along these few front teeth where it’s difficult to get the whole brush head angled correctly.
The use of vinegar will slowly dissolve the calcified deposits. Therefore, yes it would remove them overtime. As would rubbing strawberries on your teeth and leave it there for 5 minutes before rinsing. They dissolve the calcified deposits with their respective weak acids, acetic acid for vinegar and citric acid for the strawberries.

Dentists recommend brushing your teeth for a full two minutes, though most people don’t, even though they may believe they do. Nearly all the brushes we tested include a timer that shuts the brush off at two minutes and have timed intervals to tell you when to move to the next quadrant of teeth. Although it seems like a minor feature, it’s very useful.
HOWEVER, if you read reviews at sites like Amazon, long time Sonicare users are fairly passionate in their opinion that the Series 2 and Series 3 do not have the performance of older models nor the HealthyWhite+ and above models. They seem very definitive in this opinion and yes they say they turn off the “easy start.” Some even say the Essence makes their teeth feel cleaner than the Series 2.
I would suggest something other than Phillips. Paid over $100.00 BJ’s, and after 7 months the charger stopped working. You would think they would want you to continue to use their product and offer a replacement charger, but you have to buy another at an approx $30.00 cost with shipping. By the way customer service is not too friendly. Need to buy 2 more brushes and will buy another brand.
Roughly speaking, sonic toothbrushes are somewhat similar to regular ones. Their purpose is to quickly move back on forth over the exterior of the teeth in order to scrub away plaque and food debris. Where they differ, however, is the speed of movement with which they operate.
All essence+ models have same specifications. They only differ in color and included starter brush type. They all have QuadPacer and it beeps when battery is low. LED battery indicator is bit hard to see (too dim) but it’s minor issue.
The dental hygienists in some parts of North America can provide oral hygiene treatment based on the assessment of a patient’s needs without the authorization of a dentist, treat the patient in absence of a dentist, and also maintain a provider-patient relationship.
Based on comments we’ve seen posted on our and retailer websites, it seems that there’s a general consensus that this brush is a step above the Sonicare 3 in terms of power and refinement, and therefore currently occupies a transition point in the Sonicare line up.
This paper is hardly new nor the definitive word on this subject, but notice how it states that the pressure applied when brushing is a significant factor in causing dentinal wear (which equates to root wear, abrasion). Opting for the most effective brushing mode and being extremely conscious of the amount of pressure you are using might make an acceptable compromise.
Of course, the big question is, how well does it clean teeth? Very well apparently! My teeth were noticeably whiter after 1 week using only the standard cross action head. I will likely try the whitening head at some point in accordance with the whitening program in the app. The brush head has visible movement, in contrast with the Sonicare which has more movements, but they are smaller movements, and only linear movements.
Both Dr. McConnell and Casper say that sonic toothbrushes tend to work better because they’re similar to the microsonic scaler equipment used in a professional clinic. Microsonic scaler technology removes both the biofilm (goo) and calculus (hard deposits) on teeth.
How to Remove Tartar BuildupHow to Remove Plaque at HomeRemoving plaque at home on a daily basis lessens your chances of tartar buildup and experiencing more serious dental problems such as cavities, gingivitis, and bad breath. Healthy dental habits, such as brushing for two minutes twice daily and flossing after every brush, can help you prevent the harmful effects of plaque buildup. If you have kids, remember: It’s never too early to help them learn good oral care.Manual brushes can be effective. But Oral-B® Electric Toothbrushes make it even easier to brush the dentist-recommended two minutes and remove 100% more plaque than a regular manual toothbrush. Remove 22% More Plaque with Oral-B than Sonicare*This easy at-home routine, along with using Oral-B Electric Toothbrushes, can help ensure you’ll keep your mouth healthy for a long time to come.
On their website Phillips claim that the EasyClean removes 2 x plaque while more expensive models remove up to 7 x plaque. Do you think this claim stands up? If it does, then, although I much prefer not to have the extra modes it looks like I must!
There were a few things we didn’t like about it, though. First, it doesn’t switch off after two minutes — it simply pulses, meaning there’s a risk of missing the buzz and over-brushing. That said, if you like the chance to go over a tooth or two at the end of your clean, this may not bother you. It’s also pretty loud and, like oscillating brushes in general, can be harsh on the gums. One of our testers told us, “the Oral-B felt like a power tool while the Sonicare felt like a toothbrush.” The Oral-B also has a narrow handle which our small-handed tester didn’t mind, but if you have bigger hands or arthritis, you may find the larger handle of the Sonicare 2 Series easier to maneuver.

“Excellent toothbrush!!!!!! I had one of these years ago. It died, then I went to an off-brand electric until it died. What a mistake. I purchased this brand again. What a difference in the way your teeth feel after brushing. Super clean. If you’re a heavy coffee drinker like I am, then you need this brush. Excellent!!!!! I don’t think it’s rough as some of the other reviewers claim. It’s an electric, and it works really well. Even if it dies after a year’s use, I’d buy another quickly. Your dentist will love you for it. And long-term, it may just save your teeth for old age. Cheaper to replace this brush than to have expensive dental work done, in my opinion. Take care of your teeth. You’ll need them a long time!! Would I purchase again??? You bet.”
Update: Although in this recipe we used vegetable glycerin and almost-all commercial toothpastes use glycerin, many natural dentists say this glycerin film on teeth can prevent the teeth from being able to remineralize and therefore, it might weaken your teeth.  Talk to a natural dentist to see if you should add glycerin to the mouthwash.
Purchase a UV toothbrush sanitizer.  These nifty gadgets work by combining steam with dry heat to sanitize your toothbrush.  However if you don’t want to shell out the money, studies show that soaking your toothbrush in Listerine works almost just as well.
If you want an electric toothbrush with every top-of-the-line feature, the Sonicare DiamondClean Smart Sonic Electric Toothbrush is an excellent choice. The toothbrush uses a simple two-button interface and includes some technique-improving features, like a pressure sensor that lets you know when you’re brushing too hard. In addition, it also has a compatible app that displays a 3D model of teeth to help track your brushing progress in real-time. It even displays an alert if your brushing strokes are too wide — a common technique flaw. The greatest downside is the $165 price tag. But if you’re looking for the most advanced toothbrush on the market, the DiamondClean is for you.
Warranty – Like all electronic gadgets, sonic toothbrushes are prone to failure due to manufacturing defects. One year full replacement warranty is the best we were able to find. For that reason, we set it as a standard for evaluation.
Along with technical know-how, dental hygienists should have excellent communication skills. “The client’s head is in their lap basically,” Swanson Jaecks says. “They should know how to read a client and relate to a client.” She also says good hand-eye coordination is a must, as are critical-thinking skills, since dental hygienists are on the front lines of assessing a client’s oral health.
I very rarely floss. I know I should, but I don’t do it often. After switching to this brush, dentists have not told me that it looks like I don’t floss anymore! I am NOT saying you can avoid flossing by using this brush, but I take it to mean that it does a way better job than my old manual toothbrush ever did
We could not find any independent studies comparing toothbrush models or brands, and all the ones tested for the fluid dynamics aspect are Sonicare brushes, which are all 31,000 movements-per-minute brushes. Other brands have toothbrushes that move faster, slower, and at roughly the same speed as this. Though the fluid dynamics effect exists, remember that it’s secondary to actual bristles scrubbing your teeth and gums.
We couldn’t give Greater Goods our top spot because it doesn’t really do a better job than the Sonicare 2 Series. But those who choose the Greater Goods Balance can expect a comfortable sonic toothbrush while giving back to those in need. For us, that’s worth a mention.

How long should one of these last – not the heads, but the handle/charger combo? The article says that the power might decrease over time as the rechargeable battery deteriorates, but I didn’t see any estimate of a general lifespan.
The other week we put together a buyer’s guide to Oral-B Electric Toothbrushes, this week we have a guide to Sonicare toothbrushes. We’re going to navigate through all the Sonicare toothbrushes and brush heads and talk about their features (highlighting the unique ones) and prices to see which have the most to offer.
Based on comments we’ve seen posted on our and retailer websites, it seems that there’s a general consensus that this brush is a step above the Sonicare 3 in terms of power and refinement, and therefore currently occupies a transition point in the Sonicare line up.

First off, the Sonic Pulse comes with 6 brush heads. That’s 5 more than what you get from the lower Philips models. You get, 2 interdental, 2 Slimsonic, and 2 professional brush heads. The issue we had, was with switching between brush heads. It is a bit awkward, and sometimes it feels like that head might break if you push it too hard.
An advice to the Flecare+ is to also buy the diamond clean brush heads for even a smoother cleaning feeling or even the adaptive clean brush heads (The adaptive clean heads I think are very good but those I have not tried yet). The Flexcare brush head is very good to remove tartar, but the diamond clean makes your teeth even more silky and glossy and maybe slightly more comfortable to brush with, but already the Flexcare brush head is extremely good for the silky feeling.
Our research showed that the majority of toothbrushes approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as ultrasonic, generate around 196,000,000 movements per minute. This means that they function at around 1.6 Mhz. Unlike oscillating or sonic models, this type uses powerful ultrasound waves to clean below the gum line.
Although there is insufficient clinical evidence to support that bacterial growth on toothbrushes will lead to specific adverse oral or systemic health effects, a common-sense approach is recommended for situations where patients may be at higher risk to infection or re-infection by various microbes. Examples may include situations where a patient or family member:
A full review of the patient’s medical history to identify the patient’s systemic health, as well as establishing a provisional diagnosis. The provisional diagnosis is generated following a comprehensive oral examination, data collection and radiographic interpretation.
I’ve used this for years as an alternative to commercial and toxic cleaners. While many of these commercials cleaners kill more germs than the natural ones, you are left with the after effects of their toxins. That is not something I want in my home.
As discussed above, it’s only realistic to assume that with increased cost comes a higher build quality. But considering the planned-obsolescence, disposable nature of this type of product (for example, battery failure generally equates with toothbrush death), we’ve decided that to us the line delineating what makes a reasonable purchase or not, lies below these models.
If your battery dies, contact the merchant or store if it’s under a certain period of time to invoke the warranty, but if it’s after an extended period of time, contact the maker (Oral-B, Philips). It’s not unheard of for them to send you a new brush for nothing if your battery dies.

Medical assistants complete administrative and clinical tasks in the offices of physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities. Their duties vary with the location, specialty, and size of the practice.
The Sonicare does not “oscillate,” it merely vibrates. “Sonic Pulverization” feels great, but we were unable to find any scientific evidence that backs its efficacy. Every clinical study says that the Oral B is better when it comes to cleaning your mouth.
You can see the plaque on your teeth by using  Disclosing tablets, these tablets are made of a harmless vegetable dye. It’s hard to see a plaque with the naked eye but with these tablets its stains the teeth and highlight where a plaque is located.Look at the picture all the areas which have the red color has plaque. You can use disclosing tablets by chewing it then swish it around your mouth then rinse with some water. You will now see all the areas which have plaque and you can brush and floss away them away. Disclosing tablets are great to have in your home to teach children to brush their teeth correctly by showing them the calculus build up or the plaque their toothbrush missed. Check it out.
Today’s busy lifestyles typically cause large amounts of stress that can raise hormones to an unhealthy level in the body. Factors like smoking, drinking too much and overeating also contribute to poor arterial health. All of these things together can cause weight gain and blockages in the arteries.
2. Fit a brush head by pushing the metal tip of the brush motor at the top of the brush handle into the hole in the bottom of the brush head.  As the two are pushed together there will be a click, the head is now attached.
Aside from the differences between brushing heads and handles, choosing between the Oral-B 1000 and Sonicare 2 Series is more about the character of the toothbrushes rather than anything else. At the end of the day, they’ll both offer a great clean. While the Sonicare is a better fit for most people, if you have sensitive teeth the Oral-B 1000 is definitely the way to go.
So which is better at cleaning teeth? The truth is: they’re both great. Our experts had differing opinions, and there’s evidence for the superior effectiveness of both oscillating and sonic brushes. What our dentists all agreed on is that more research is needed for a definitive answer: Most academic studies to date have simply focused on the different results between manual and electric toothbrushes. At the end of the day, both oscillating and sonic brushes will work well as long as they’re paired with proper brushing technique. Dr. Ben Lawlor of Maine Cosmetic Dentistry told us, “If you’re using an electric toothbrush that stimulates the gum, you’re good.” So rather than trying to pick a side based on inconclusive research, we focused on finding toothbrushes from both styles that had our must-have features and were celebrated for comfort.
Pursonic is a rather curious brand. Their S520 electric toothbrush is well accepted across all big retail stores in the United States. However, there is very little technical information present, and most of it is found on Amazon, rather than their own website.
If you don’t fancy rubbing vegetable glycerine on your teeth, you might prefer something a little simpler. You can rub orange peel directly onto your teeth and this will help to fight tartar building microorganisms on the enamel. You can also mash up the peel (though this may take some time) and apply it to the stained areas. Leave to rest and then rinse. You should find that this noticeably whitens the teeth.

It truly amazes me how gross my refrigerator can get in such a short amount of time. Drips all over the interior. Leftovers pushed back into the great unknown and moisture builds up on the shelves. It’s no wonder the kids stand in front of it with the door open, and proclaim, “WE DON’T HAVE […]
High school students interested in becoming dental hygienists should take courses in biology, chemistry, and math. Most dental hygiene programs also require applicants to complete prerequisites, which often include college-level courses. Specific requirements vary by school.
However, it has to be stated that as much sense as this seems to make, at this point in time it’s only conjecture. There has been no definitive study that has conclusively proven the long-term benefit of using a sonic toothbrush over the effective use of other types of brushes.
Before we dive into our reviews, it is important to make the distinction between sonic and ultrasonic. The two categories are often blended into one, mistakenly comparing them to one another. Even though both types essentially fall under the electric toothbrush category, their functionalities differ to a great extent. Here is some further clarification on that note.

Learning how to present information to patients can allow you to express some creativity, being observant and applying knowledge of diseases and conditions can help you stay sharp…but….ultimately it is pretty similar day to day. Another note….as far as being an “easy” job, the skill set tends to remain the same every day, but you are doing physical labor possibly 8+ hours a day. That can definitely be difficult.

This discussion however relates how two Sonicare publications reported that two different models whitened teeth to the same degree, yet at that point in time when the separate studies were done, only one of the brushes actually featured a fancy whitening mode. The other just the standard 31,000 stroke/min mode.
I never felt that they would thoroughly brush my teeth. After using it for a week, I was amazed at how well these bristle felt. These replacement bristles for the Sonicare toothbrush were not too soft yet abrasive enough to clean my teeth. I now have m entire family hooked on using these replacement brush heads. There toothbrush heads also come with a blue indicator bristle that will fade over time, then it will be known when it is time to be replaced. Well worth the investment in my family’s teeth.
G3 Premium Gum Care (introduced with DiamondClean Smart) – Absorbs excess cleaning pressure to protect the gums. 2 times more surface contact. Automatically selects optimal cleaning mode for the best results. (Compatible brush required)
There are certain accessories, such as charging stations and power cords, which all electric toothbrushes come with. Some models come with extra brush heads, which could be useful because eventually, you will have to replace them. But, other accessories, such as travel cases, can prove to be quite expensive and end up never being used.
This piece of German technology is engineered by Braun and claims to remove 300% more plaque from along the gum line when compared to a manual toothbrush. We cannot verify this claim, nor deny it. However, we can assert that the 7000 series comes equipped with a variety of options that will help you develop a better brushing technique. For instance, sensitivity sensors will stop you from brushing too hard, while the 6 independent functions will help you clean your teeth more efficiently.
Overall (primarily based on what we’ve read in the comments found on large retailer websites) it’s our impression that first-time Sonicare owners are generally satisfied with this brush (as an improvement over their manual one) but previous owners tend not to be.

Q: How did the noise on the Sonicare Series 2 compare with the other Sonicare brushes you tested? The reviews on Amazon seem to indicate that it’s significantly louder and that the heads don’t fit as well.
Note/Nota
So the article had me feeling confident in my decision to be a dental assistant then working my way up to a dental hygienist, but all of these negative comments are starting to make me re-evaluate my choice. Is dental school really as hard as everyone’s making it out to be? Is it really that hard to find a job in this industry? I’m so unsure now and I’m not used to that. Someone please help!!
There is no dark magic and wizardly spells surrounding these vibrating and rotating toothbrushes. They are rather simple devices powered by a small motor that makes motions at sonic speed. The purpose of these electric gadgets is to help clean teeth by using rapid and automatic bristle motions.
You are correct that there’s no evidence that different brush heads will clean your teeth better, but we think having a range of available brush heads matters in so far as personal preference is concerned. You brush your teeth twice a day every day, so you probably want the brush head to feel comfortable.
If you have blood in your toothpaste after brushing, you may have early symptoms of gingivitis. Left untreated, it can develop into gum disease and may even have wider health implications. Caught early, gingivitis is easy to treat and prevent with your daily routine.
The exception to the above are the Essence and PowerUp lines, which each use their own specific type of head. (We make note of all of this below. We explain Sonicare brush head options in general, on this page.)
I feel it worth mentioning that the Deery et al. paper cited as evidence that powered is better than manual is actually far more equivocal. Statistically significant, yes, but very weak effect size, something like 5-15% lower “scores” for plaque and gingivitis. Such small effects may be just as well due to placebo-like effects. And, as the authors themselves state, it is unclear that there is any clinical benefit to this small reduction in these scores. Overall, the case for powered is I think considerably weaker than portrayed here.

Plaque buildup can have serious health consequences. The bacteria in plaque create acid by feeding on the sugars in the foods you eat, which can damage your teeth and cause cavities. The bacteria also make toxins that can aggravate your gums, leading to periodontal disease (gum disease).
It create a breeding ground for the oral bacteria that feed on sugars from the food you eat. Plus, it forms acid during this process that breaks down the tooth enamel, leading to dental cavities. Bacteria also produce toxins causing various periodontal (gum) problems.
Use the correct brushing technique. When brushing your teeth, hold the toothbrush at a 45 degree angle against the gum line and sweep the brush away from the gums, in a short vertical, back-and-forth, or circular motions. Try not too scrub too hard, as this can actually damage the enamel on your teeth and cause high sensitivity to any type of stimulus.[2]
Correct teeth brushing remains essential to a good oral health. Unfortunately, many of us rush through this exercise in order to get it done. This way a lot of destructive bacteria remains and slowly causes the formation of plaque and eventually tooth decay.
We found the downfall of the 7000 model in its NiMH battery. When brushing twice a day, while connected to the app, the battery only lasted for 8 days. Compared to other similar toothbrushes, this is not cool, to say the least. Especially when it takes 24 hours to fully charge the battery.
So, I needed a new electric toothbrush and decided to order this one. I just ordered through the link to Amazon. Better price than posted from May. Now $33.99 and then an instant $7.00 coupon so I paid $26.99. Seems hard to beat that! Thanks wirecutter.
I used my first Sonicare for two years but the rubberized base became moldy and smelly and I needed to replace it. The second I used for 4 years and it became useless when the brush head would not stay on the base during use.
The advanced ergonomic handle gives the Sensonic a smooth and sleek look. The blue rubber grip that runs down horizontally is perfectly positioned. Whether you are left or right handed, your fingers will always rest on the grip. This is perhaps the most comfortable toothbrush that we have tested.
As I mentioned earlier, electric toothbrushes do not run on dark magic and Jedi crystals, they run on electricity. The very first vibrating brushes were unavoidably designed to be used only when directly plugged into the outlet. This is not only dangerous but also inconvenient. For this reason, batteries have now become the preferred method of charging these devices.

Brio is still considered a novice within the oral health industry. But, that has not halted the company from experiencing a quick growth and amassing a serious and loyal base of followers. Their responsive and hassle-free customer service, as well as their competitive product, have also earned them a place in our top 7 list.
These brushes give the impression of having a superior design and build. However while we do believe this is point is accurate, actually quantifying this difference in comparison to other models is difficult. (That’s why we’ve sought out sources involving user/owner input when formulating this page.)
There is much debate about whether electric is always better when it comes to brushing. For the most part, it is down to personal choice. However, studies have shown, time and again, that electric brushes are more efficient at removing built up material on teeth.
Our ever so brilliant writer of this guide just mentioned something that was so nifty all I could say was ‘wow’ –> Repurpose your old toothbrush as a new electric toothbrush cleaning tool. It will be able to get in those crevasses!
We absolutely feel that almost all users should just use Clean mode (at the highest intensity setting). But for people who can’t tolerate that much brushing activity (like elderly or debilitated person’s), this brush gives the user additional options that the 2 Series doesn’t.
Any dentist will tell you that the key to prevent gum disease is to remove the tartar. Periogen makers claim this is the alternative to remove tartar at home it is the world’s first dental tartar remover that has been used for years by dentist.   Periogen has been tested by Nelson Labs,SLC Utah for home safety use following FDA guidelines to progressively and safely removes dental tartar.
The process for removing tartar is called scaling. During a scaling, the dentist or dental hygienist uses special instruments (ultrasonic and hand scalers, and curettes) to remove tartar and plaque from your teeth, above and below the gum line.
THANK YOU. So bottom line it seems like the Series 3 may have one lower intensity than the Healthy White…..how low still don’t know but seems like the sens on the Healthy White compares to med on Series 3.
With a contoured profile to fit your child’s teeth, the standard sized heads are most suited to children aged 7+whilst the smaller compact option are best suited to kids aged 4+. Soft bristles for a gentle cleaning experience helps encourage children to brush for longer and assists in education of the importance of regular cleaning.
Mouthwash kills the germs in your mouth, so it seems logical that it could kill those germs on your toothbrush too! Just soak your toothbrush bristles in mouthwash for several minutes, then rinse thoroughly with hot water. (thanks Rachel)
My head can’t stand the high-pitched tone from the sonic toothbrushes. I used a Philips sonic toothbrush for 6 months as part of a dental trial. The toothbrush itself was not being tested, the investigators wanted everyone using the same brush. I assumed I would get used to the sonic whine after a few days, but never did. Have happily used an electric Oral-B now for over 10 years (yes, it has lasted that long!) with great results.
Our toothbrushes end up in his mouth, on the floor, behind furniture…you get the idea. Germs from all over the house end up on our toothbrushes. If we replaced our toothbrushes every day, we would go broke. So, we learned to do the next best thing…disinfect them.
Your “clinical evidence” consists of one set of articles from one set of authors in one month’s special issue of one particular publication. The “researchers” are all from one company (P&G). They hijacked one publication for one month (September 2012, “special edition”). They referred to Oral-B as “novel,” which is highly inappropriate for any professional publication, while at the same time, they referred to Sonicare as “marketed,” as if Oral-B’s products aren’t marketed. They offered no validation of the data, meaning that it could have all been made up.
Based on comments we’ve seen posted on our and retailer websites, it seems that there’s a general consensus that this brush is a step above the Sonicare 3 in terms of power and refinement, and therefore currently occupies a transition point in the Sonicare line up.

Do not let toothbrushes come into contact with one another. If you are storing multiple toothbrushes in one container, make sure they do not touch, as this will allow for the transfer of bacteria and bodily fluids from one brush to another.[8]
The Sonicare does not “oscillate,” it merely vibrates. “Sonic Pulverization” feels great, but we were unable to find any scientific evidence that backs its efficacy. Every clinical study says that the Oral B is better when it comes to cleaning your mouth.
Unlike plaque, tartar is a mineral buildup that’s fairly easy to see, if above the gum line. The most common sign of tartar is a yellow or brown deposit between the lower front teeth or at the gum line. The only way to remove tartar completely is to see your dentist or dental hygienist for a professional cleaning.
There is a really easy and clever way to check if you have a plaque build-up on your teeth. Take some food colouring – just the regular stuff found in supermarkets – and add it to a teaspoon of water. You can use this mini mixture as a plaque highlighting solution. However, you are advised to rub a little petroleum jelly on your lips first to avoid stains. You only need to gargle with the food colouring and then spit it out. You should be left with light patches of colour where the most stubborn plaque accumulations are; concentrate brushing here.
It is possible that you can use any of the Sonicare brush heads with the sensitive cleaning mode on Sonicare brush handles but the clean and experience may not be as enjoyable if you suffer from sensitive gums.
[Frequency is measured in Hertz (hz) and it’s units are cycles per second. One brush stroke (either up or down) equals 1/2 cycle, so the number above must be divided by 2. And then, of course, there are 60 seconds per minute, so the number above also needs to be divided by 60.]
ProResult Gum Health – This is a slightly more affordable toothbrush head for cleaning your gums in comparison to the DiamondClean and the InterCare brush heads. The bristles are arranged in a design that is similar to that of a manual toothbrush and the bristles are contoured so that they fit the natural shape of your teeth for more comfort and convenience. These brush heads for the FlexCare, FlexCare plus and the HealthyWhite toothbrushes from Philips. You can purchase a standard size or compact size of these toothbrush heads. The compact size features a smaller head of bristles, which some people prefer because it can be easier to get around all the teeth.
G3 Premium Gum Care – $12.25 – This is another BrushSync head. This one is designed with soft, flexible bristles on its side that adapt to gum contours. It comes in Standard size only. Bristle stiffness = soft.
We’ll mention that we actually consider price to be a valid way of making comparisons among the Sonicare brushes. Some years ago we leaned toward the lower-priced Sonicare 2 and 3 Series brushes as being best choices/best values. But website visitor feedback regarding their opinion about mechanism refinement and reliability helped to guide us toward deciding that the HealthyWhite made the better choice.
