We used the appropriate analytic weights to account for issues related to disproportionate sampling, including people living in households with different numbers of residential telephone numbers and different numbers of children in the home. Survey weights also adjusted for unequal nonresponse rates among different demographic groups. Stata version 10 (StataCorp LP, College Station, TX) was used in conducting all of the analyses.
Whichever option you choose, the most important part of brushing is ensuring that you do it. Selecting a brush that you’re comfortable with using and keeping to a regular schedule of brushing is the best way to help keep your teeth clean and healthy between visits to your dentist.
FlexCare Platinum’s special Gum Care mode provides focused cleaning to help reduce gingival bleeding and inflammation. Unlike a manual toothbrush, Sonicare features a patented sonic technology that uses dynamic cleaning action to drive fluid between teeth, gently and effectively removing plaque along the gum line.
Playworks is a nonprofit that leverages the power of play to transform children’s social and emotional health. During the 2017-2018 school year, Playworks will ensure that 1 million children from over 2,000 schools experience safe and healthy play every day.
If you brush your teeth after every single meal (first, good for you!), you might want to upgrade to this travel-friendly electronic toothbrush, which Vetysman reccomends for on-the-go cleaning. “It’s travel-sized and comes in cute colors,” she says. “I always carry one in my purse!” We love the sanitary cap, which allows us to throw this baby into our makeup bags without attracting dregs of rogue eye shadow.
“Organizational Capacity of Recipients to Implement the Approach” should be described in the project narrative. Supporting documentation, specifically CVs/resumes and organizational charts should be attachments.
The craniofacial complex allows us to speak, smile, kiss, touch, smell, taste, chew, swallow, and to cry out in pain. It provides protection against microbial infections and environmental threats. Oral diseases restrict activities in school, at work and at home causing millions of school and work hours to be lost each year the world over. Moreover, the psychosocial impact of these diseases often significantly diminishes quality of life.
Many Americans today enjoy excellent oral health and are keeping their natural teeth throughout their lives. But this is not the case for everyone. Cavities are still the most prevalent chronic disease of childhood.
This will be a fantastically fun event for dental practices up and down the country to take part in, and it’s very simple – just wear pink and host a collection box on the day to help raise money for our work in East Africa. In addition, practices will be learning about and promoting to patients, the challenges of the lack of access to simple basic emergency dentistry for most of the world.
Over the course of this study, the committee encountered considerable gaps in the evidence base regarding important aspects of oral health and the delivery of oral health care to vulnerable and underserved populations. For example, little is known about the best ways to care for the distinct segments of the American public that are not well served by the traditional oral health care system. To this end, there are a number of programs currently under way designed to deliver oral health care to underserved and vulnerable populations through innovations in use of the workforce and in alternative settings of care. Additional research on the effectiveness of these (and other) strategies toward improving access to oral health care will provide the evidence needed to make policy decisions. It will also foster the continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of oral health care that the committee calls for in its vision.
Peoples attitude is shaped by their beliefs and the common belief has been that dental treatment is unbearably painful, this has led to people ignoring their oral health to an extent that when they eventually come to the dental clinic some of their teeth are invariably advised for extraction, which again as painful event reinforced this belief and add to the general household reputation of dental treatment as painful which usually reason much for those who shy away from oral health both in rural and urban areas. This perception needs modification before any intervention. Inclusion of video-aids or demonstration on a subject would indeed help modify this attitude although a very successful accomplishment on a large scale can eliminate this perception over a time period.
The electric motor vibrates at an industry standard 15,000 RPM to provide a thorough yet non-damaging cleaning action. The Motor pulses every 30 seconds to help you evenly clean your teeth and gums and cuts out at 2 minutes to let you know when to stop. Our motor runs on a Rechargeable or Replaceable AAA Battery. The battery will last the same 3 months as your brush head. When replacing the brush head, you can simply slide out the battery and replace with a fully charged/ fresh one (if you are on a refill plan we supply a fresh AAA every 3 months).
America needs more dentists, especially those who reflect the communities they serve. And we need to expand the dental workforce, adding mid-level providers to the dental team to make it easier for children and families in underserved communities to get high-quality, affordable dental care where they live.
So in summary, I highly recommend their cheaper Pro1000 electric toothbrush; I got it for $35 here on Amazon. If you have extra money to burn and want some nice but not all-that-valuable extra features, this is great product too, but it’s going to cost more than double. I got it for $75 with a Black Friday coupon, but it looks like it’s going for $99 now.

Extremely Quiet. While many electric toothbrushes have a loud motor, this electric toothbrush is relatively quiet. Many users praise the quiet design of this electric toothbrush, particularly when compared to other electric toothbrush products they previously owned.
Reducing inequalities in health has become one of the main health policy issues in the late 1990s. The Labour Government set up an independent inquiry into inequalities in health under Sir Donald Acheson to make recommendations on approaches to reducing health …
You do not have to worry about your kid over brushing his or her teeth with this toothbrush. In addition to its ergonomic head and well-calculated strokes, it has a dedicated on and off button that eases its operation. In the on position, its head pulses for a faster and thorough cleaning experience. Your kid can also turn it off when needed without compromising safety in any way.
The Dazzlepro Advanced Sonic’s handle is a little large and unwieldy, a satiny plastic tapered toward the middle of the handle, and the charging base is hefty, but this brush does a reasonable approximation of the Sonicare brushes’ motion. The Dazzlepro brush has a separate “sensitive” cleaning mode. However, the company has a lower profile, and the warranty lasts only one year (compared with Sonicare and Oral-B’s two years), so if you need support you may be left wanting. This brush is currently unavailable on Amazon and Overstock.
What is Binchotan? Binchotan is essentially the best version of activated charcoal, which has been used for decades in things like air and water purification. Activated charcoal helps eliminate foul odors in your mouth, as well as balance the pH and fight the germs that cause gingivitis and tooth decay.

The major drawback to electric toothbrushes, in many people’s opinions, is the cost; starter kits are generally $50 to $75, although you can purchase some for less than $25 or more than $100. In the long run, however, they may not cost much more than manual brushes, as they need to be replaced far less often [sources: Go Ask Alice, Oral B].
Here is our list of a few budget friendly electric toothbrushes. Surprisingly the first 2 spots are taken by brands that aren’t Braun or Philips. At the time of creating this list, all of the reviewed products on this list costed less than half of the price of the top-end toothbrushes. We will update this list as regularly as possible and if you have a proposition for us, let us know in the comments section at the bottom of this page!

The Dual Clean replacement toothbrush head has two moving brush heads for a comprehensive clean. One bristle section moves side to side while the other oscillates and pulsates for twice the cleaning action. It can even penetrate hard-to-reach areas. Try the Dual Clean and discover a thorough, whole-mouth clean, and feel fresher.
Kids are not too young to have a sonic toothbrush and these can be a highly effective way of cleaning teeth. With shorter cleaning times and more effective cleaning between and behind the teeth as well as the gum line, sonic toothbrushes for kids are a great choice.
HRSA works to increase the dental workforce through various HRSA-supported programs by providing support for dental workforce development, including training programs in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, dental hygiene, and dental public health, to increase access to care, as well as through State Oral Health Workforce grants, loan repayment, and scholarship programs. The National Health Service Corps helps underserved communities receive critically needed primary medical, oral, behavioral, and mental health care. Through the National Health Service Corps, oral health students and clinicians can receive scholarships and loan repayment in return for committing to practice in a dental health professional shortage area for a defined period of time. This place has the most kind-hearted people taking care of others! I went in with severe dental issues and they listened to me, cared of my opinions and money concerns with payments, spent more time than any other doctor to help break down payment costs and find the best possible option for me.
A strong interest in global health is also evident in the engagement of the US National Academy of Sciences, which, with the support of four US government agencies and five private foundations, formed a committee to examine the US commitment to and opportunities for global health. The Academy’s Institute of Medicine report frames a vision for future US investment in global health and recommends highlighting health as a pillar of US foreign policy. The report pointed out that neither the US alone nor any single organization can achieve improved global health single-handedly. Instead, progress will require cooperation among countries, donors, and recipients of aid (Institute of Medicine, 2009). Further, the report calls for the US to increase its financial commitment to global health, set the example for others by engaging in respectful partnerships, and generate and share knowledge to address health problems endemic to the global poor (Institute of Medicine, 2009).
Futhermore, it also uses smart technology to determine where you are cleaning and it changes action appropriately. Your front (slim and smooth) teeth need a subtly different brushing action that your back teeth (big, with lots of pits and grooves) do. The Deep Sweep uses motion and other sensors to determine where you are cleaning in the mouth and what angle the brush head is at, and adapts the bristle motion accordingly.
A toothbrush does the necessary job of vanquishing incredibly rude bacteria relentlessly working to mess up your oral health. “There’s a biofilm of bacteria that builds up in our mouths and our teeth and even in our gums. If it’s not removed, this biofilm becomes what we know as plaque,” dentist Maria Lopez Howell, D.D.S., an American Dental Association spokesperson, tells SELF. Plaque, which honestly has no chill, is “just forming all the time,” she adds. When not swept away frequently enough, plaque can lead to tooth decay and gingivitis (the first stage of gum disease, aka periodontitis), along with full-blown periodontitis. Without proper treatment, tooth decay and periodontitis can lead to tooth loss.
I don’t believe I need deep cleaning but monarch said they wont clean ..only deep clean even if I don’t want that….so im going elsewhere, if they say I need it, then I may do it…but, I still think its steep, even with insurance 866. would be my cost. looking for dental school see if they might do deep cleaning. I think hygienist should have their own business, and they can make their own money. 3-11-2016
After no contact for about a month, I did receive an email stating that a replacement was being shipped. I’ve upgraded my rating reflecting this. Having gone weeks without any acknowledgement, I did purchase a replacement, another Sonicare (similar model). Now, I’ll have a backup.
Whether they realize it or not, the majority of Americans over age five have at least one untreated dental cavity and most adult mouths harbor periodontal (gum) disease. Research shows that adults and children with major medical problems, such as diabetes, are at higher risk for periodontal disease. Additionally, a pregnant woman’s cavity-causing pathogens are passed along to her newborn, paving the way to another generation with poor dental health. Responding to the urgent need to identify more integrated ways of promoting oral health and reducing oral health inequalities, the UCL group developed a common risk factor approach emphasising and facilitating the coincidental and complementary development and implementation of oral health and other health programmes. Since oral health shares many of the same risk factors – notably diet, hygiene, tobacco and alcohol use, stress and trauma – as many other chronic diseases, they proposed taking a collaborative, rather than a disease-specific, approach to tackling these. This emphasis on the need for a common risk factor approach in tackling shared risks for a range of chronic conditions, including oral diseases, has been highly influential in supporting the development by UK Primary Care Trusts and Local Authorities of local oral health strategies.
There are also some differences in the department of accessories. All three handles come with a stand and a travel case, but the travel case on the 7000 is a little bit different. Considered not just a carrying case, but also a “charging station”, this accessory will allow you to charge both your phone and your brush at once, it is a great bonus if you spend a lot of time in hotels. Since you aren’t likely to bring your brush without your travel case it helps make sure that everything is where you need it to be. I know that when I travel one of the things that I am most prone to forget is my charger.
Patients should carefully review the cost of a dental benefit plan before purchase by comparing the average annual cost of a household’s dental bills with the proposed 12 monthly premium payments for “dental insurance”. It may make more financial sense to pay out-of-pocket for dental care than to pay a monthly premium.
Because poor oral health can happen for a variety of reasons, it’s important to visit your dentist for an exam. During the exam, your dentist can identify potential reasons for the changes in your mouth. Additionally,a professional dental cleaning can give you a fresh start on your hygiene routine.
Fantastic product, fits my Oral B electric toothbrush perfectly and is exactly like the brand original but at a fraction of the price. They even come individually sealed and with little clear plastic carriers so you keep them and your wash bag clean whilst you are travelling. Highly recommend!
Despite the fact that the cause of the “oral health crisis” is primarily socioeconomic in nature, the response by state and federal governments is often to simply push for more fluoridation programs. Fluoridation is promoted despite its repeated failure to prevent the very oral health crises it is claimed to prevent. In Cincinnati (a city that has been fluoridated since 1978):
A typical adult can complete about 300 strokes per minute when using a manual brush. An electric toothbrush, on the other hand, will typically rotate anywhere from 7,500 to 30,000 strokes per minute! This allows you to remove much more plaque during each brushing, keeping your teeth cleaner overall.
Americans are healthier because of preventive efforts such as community water fluoridation and dental sealants, which reduce both the prevalence and severity of tooth decay. Children receiving dental sealants in school programs have 60% fewer cavities on treated surfaces after placement of a sealant.43,44 Community water fluoridation is a cost-saving measure; it is estimated that every $1 invested in fluoridation yields about $38 in savings from fewer cavities treated.45 As a result of preventive efforts and improved oral health care, baby boomers will be the first generation to largely maintain their natural teeth during an entire lifetime.46
I bought two of these brushes as gifts. I was disappointed to find out the white brush only had 4 settings, whereas the rose gold model came with 5 settings (it included the tongue mode). In the picture on Amazon, the white brush showed a tongue mode on the handle. Why am I paying the same price for two brushes that don’t have the same settings?
While general teeth cleanings are necessary for everyone, there are different types of dental cleaning, depending on the health of your gums. Talk to your dentist about the various levels of gum disease and what cleaning is necessary for your current condition.
