Sonicare Essence is the best among the basic sonic toothbrushes. It’s got nice features for an effective cleaning and for an affordable price. However, for those who want more features like a quadpacer, more modes, and a more sleek design, the above options are more suitable.
Obviously, we don’t speak for Philips. So if having this option is important to you, you should contact them or read the packaging of the product you’re considering before making your purchase, just to make sure you have all of the details straight.
Communication Dental hygienists must be able to both communicate the procedures they will be performing on a patient while also gathering accurate and appropriate medical histories to provide the dentist.
Its body is big to hold (probably in part due to the fact that it has the NiMH style of battery) and it’s a little bit noisier than other models. As compared to the sleeker, more-modern Sonicare designs, this unit does seem a bit old fashioned.
There is no dark magic and wizardly spells surrounding these vibrating and rotating toothbrushes. They are rather simple devices powered by a small motor that makes motions at sonic speed. The purpose of these electric gadgets is to help clean teeth by using rapid and automatic bristle motions.
Readers ask us this question all the time. The truth is that a lot of brands add unnecessary features to their toothbrushes in order to increase the price. In fact, most electric toothbrushes priced $69 and up will perform more or less the same. As long as their brush strokes per minute are similar, so it will be their performance.
Foreo’s products are easily distinguished by their vibrant colors. Their Issa toothbrush makes no exception. Available in vivacious lavender, bright yellow, cobalt blue, dark blue and black colors, this toothbrush will beautify any bathroom cabinet.
Thrive Market’s mission is simple: make healthy living and organic food accessible to everyone—regardless of where they live or how much they make. How do they do it? The notion behind to sonic system is that the high brush speed creates waves of turbulence. These waves prolong the range of brushing beyond areas that regular toothbrushes cannot reach. Furthermore, if you buy into the marketing spiel, the high vibration turbulence also creates tiny bubbles from the toothpaste and water in the mouth. Arguably, these bubbles further help the cleaning process by removing additional plaque formations.

Using food coloring is a great way to spot plaque on your teeth. First dab a little petroleum jelly to your lips to prevent staining, take a couple drops of food coloring in a teaspoon of water and swish it around your mouth. Spit it out and rinse with clear water. Look for colored areas where the plaque has taken up the dye and remove them with your toothbrush. When performing regular brushing, pay special attention to those areas of your mouth. Spaces between the teeth and ridges on the teeth are prime targets for the buildup of plaque.
Was sold a counterfeit product by Office Supply Experts. The heads rubber seal broke much sooner than normal, and the fit with the toothbrush was loose. Upon further inspection, I see the heads say PHILLIPS sonicare on them, but the official ones are supposed to say E-series. BEWARE!
Dental sealants, which are applied by dentists, cover and protect fissures and grooves in the chewing surfaces of back teeth, preventing food from becoming trapped and thereby halt the decay process. An elastomer strip has been shown to force sealant deeper inside opposing chewing surfaces and can also force fluoride toothpaste inside chewing surfaces to aid in remineralising demineralised teeth.
Apply tomatoes and strawberries to your teeth. Tomatoes and strawberries, like oranges, are rich in vitamin C. Cut them open and rub the juice on the surface of the teeth, leaving it to sit for about five minutes. Do not use strawberries or tomatoes or apples or oranges or any other plaque removing foods if you’re allergic to them. Rinse out your mouth with a solution of baking soda dissolved in water.
It is now recommended that dentures should be stored in a dry container overnight, as keeping dentures dry for 8 hours significantly reduces the amount of Candida albicans on an acrylic denture. Approximately once a week it is recommended to soak a denture overnight with an alkaline-peroxide denture cleansing tablet, as this has been proved to reduce bacterial mass and pathogenicity.

You can even make your own mouthwash: You will need one-half cup baking soda, one cup water, 10 drops essential lemon oil, 4 teaspoons vegetable glycerin, and 1 teaspoon aloe vera gel. Mix all the ingredients and store in a bottle; use once or twice a day for a combination of nice-smelling breath and plaque removal.
This lower model usually sells for less than $30 and it can be a pretty decent first electric toothbrush. Considering your hand is tired and ready to make the switch from manual. Because it is priced much lower than any of the Oral-B Pro series, the Vitality does not come with the 3D cleaning action technology. Instead, it comes with the 2D technology which includes oscillation and rotation modes, but it lacks the pulsating one.
If you plan on buying a pair for you and your partner, I strongly suggest buying from Costco for their lifetime return policy. They have comparable Oral-B and SonicCare models and regularly run sales.
it seems like there’s a bit of a lapse here. you say the Oral-B is better because it is compatible with more brush heads, and yet there seems to be no scientific evidence that different brush heads can clean your teeth better. that’s what we really need. it seems like an unscientific reason to choose the Oral-B for, especially since you refer admiringly to the polishing cup and rubber flap brush heads as if they actually do anything. how do we know they’re not just gimmicks? for all we know the simpler Sonicare brush heads are all you need.
Although experts don’t know for sure what starts atherosclerosis, the process seems to stem from damage to the lining of the arterial wall. This damage, which enables the deposition of plaque, may result from:
Brio is still considered a novice within the oral health industry. But, that has not halted the company from experiencing a quick growth and amassing a serious and loyal base of followers. Their responsive and hassle-free customer service, as well as their competitive product, have also earned them a place in our top 7 list.
Currently, there is no research that supports the notion that more settings and modes provide a better cleaning. However, it is a good enough reason for manufacturers to offer such toothbrushes at a higher price.
Even though these toothbrushes are electric, they provide the gentle brushstroke motion. This gentle motion ensures that your sonicare toothbrush will be safe to use with braces or if you have particularly sensitive gums or teeth. The brush head itself is angled so that you can get better access to the teeth in the back of your mouth. When you make brushstrokes, you can be sure that all of your teeth will be clean.
All of these models come with superfluous brushing modes. Some offer convenient but redundant charging options. If you want the option of using a brushing app, that’s available with some of them. One model even comes with an (unneeded, see below) UV brush head sanitizer.
There may well be one better suited to you, which you can decide upon based on the information provided below. We explain all the different Philips Sonicare Sonic brush heads in detail on this page and make it easier for you to understand which brush head to opt for.
While they may not be something you think about every day, your teeth should be important to you. Not brushing your teeth well or regularly can lead to gross plaque buildup, bad breath, and even dangerous gum diseases.

If you don’t physically clean off all this bacteria within 24 to 48 hours, it’ll turn into the pale yellow substance known as dental biofilm, or plaque. Plaque creates acid that slowly eats away at your teeth — and if you let it hang around for several days, it hardens into tartar, which you’ll need a professional to remove. Your saliva acts to neutralize the acid, but it’ll have a tougher job as the plaque and tartar start to build up. The longer this goes on, the greater risk you run of developing gingivitis, tooth decay and periodontal disease [source: Colgate].
As you begin your journey toward a dental hygiene education, it can be beneficial to shadow a dental hygienist in your area. Not only will the experience give you a chance to see the ins-and-outs of the profession, but some schools will value (and sometimes require) this additional step.
Survey participants wield an impressively varied skill set on the job. Most notably, skills in Pedodontics, dental hygienist, Diagnosis and Treatment Planning, and Anesthesia are correlated to pay that is above average, with boosts between 3 percent and 6 percent. Skills that are correlated to lower pay, on the other hand, include Bilingual, Local Anesthesia, and Oral / Verbal Communication. Most people experienced in Patient Education also know Periodontics.
I find this very interesting. I have never had an electric toothbrush last more than a couple of years before the battery dies out (slowly at first, then completely). I am actually on this discussion board because the battery on the Oral B, bought approx. 2-3 years ago, now needs an every-other-day charge.
Depending upon the level of education and experience achieved, dental hygienists can apply their skills and knowledge to other career activities such as teaching hygiene students in dental schools and dental hygiene education programs. Research, office management and business administration are other career options. Employment opportunities also may be available with companies that market dental-related materials and equipment.
For those who have sensitive teeth, we recommend the Oral-B 1000. Unlike its sonic counterparts, the Oral-B 1000 provides around 8,000 strokes per minute, meaning you won’t feel as much of a tickling sensation on your teeth. This sensation can be very uncomfortable to some, which makes the Oral-B an excellent choice. The Oral-B 1000’s bare-bones approach to features allows you to just focus on improving your dental care. In addition to our must-have two-minute timer, this $30 pick simply offers a quad-pacer to ensure an even brush for all your teeth. We like this minimal approach, because it shifts your attention to what matters most: proper brushing technique. The Oral-B 1000 is also compatible with a variety of different brushing heads for your personal comfort needs.
Even if you take great care of your teeth at home, you still have bacteria in your mouth. They mix with proteins and food byproducts to form a sticky film called dental plaque. This gunk coats your teeth, gets under your gum line, and sticks to fillings or other dental work. Plaque carries bacteria that can damage tooth enamel and lead to cavities. But if you remove plaque regularly, you can prevent permanent tooth decay and gum disease.
