One of the new technologies used in the electric toothbrushes is the sonic technology, which over the last years has become extremely popular. The brand that makes the best toothbrushes with this technology is the Sonicare. They tend to be relatively expensive, though there’re more affordable ones as well, but they’re well worth the cost. The effectiveness of this technology provides whiter teeth, cleans underneath the gum line prevent cavities and gum disease. If you’re a new owner of a toothbrush, this article will guide you through how to brush with Sonicare toothbrush.
So I’ve been using the Smileactives Vibrite Sonic Toothbrush and really like it. But you didn’t even look at it? Or did you? I’m curious as to what you think if it. It has all the mandatory features you list and I really like the UV sanitizing storage case that is supposed to keep the brush head clean. Plus it’s designed for whitening. Your thoughts on this one? https://smileactives.com/vibrite-sonic-teeth-whitening-toothbrush/
There are certainly times buying a new toothbrush is the best option. But if your toothbrush ends up in a place it shouldn’t have been or if you get sick right after you replace yours, you can save a little cash and disinfect your toothbrush.
The other week we put together a buyer’s guide to Oral-B Electric Toothbrushes, this week we have a guide to Sonicare toothbrushes. We’re going to navigate through all the Sonicare toothbrushes and brush heads and talk about their features (highlighting the unique ones) and prices to see which have the most to offer.
I finally decided to board the Sonicare train and thought I just have to go to Amazon, click on “Sonicare”, and buy one. Who knew there were so many different models? I despaired of ever figuring out which ones had which features until I found this site. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Bookmarking the page so I can send other people to it when they have questions.
Everyone develops plaque because bacteria are constantly growing in our mouths, so it is not easy to see. Plaque that is not removed from around the gum line can cause inflammation and irritation to the gums around your teeth.
As I mentioned earlier, electric toothbrushes do not run on dark magic and Jedi crystals, they run on electricity. The very first vibrating brushes were unavoidably designed to be used only when directly plugged into the outlet. This is not only dangerous but also inconvenient. For this reason, batteries have now become the preferred method of charging these devices.
Flexcare Platinum has some of the features of DiamondClean but comes at a lower price. It’s not as advanced as the previous model and also lacks some of its useful features. However, it’s still a powerful toothbrush with immense cleaning capabilities.
We also looked at reviews from popular American stores, such as Target and Walmart. These stores are good because they allow consumers to freely express their opinion and return merchandise if it is not up to their standards.
THANK YOU, vey much for your information which was very significant to me and it should also be for other persons. They have to keeep in mind, that you did not have to do this and you did it out of the kindness of your heart.THANK YOU,THANK YOU,THANK YOU, so much and may you continue to do what you do best and may GOD bless you and your loved ones.BEST WISHES TO YOU.

Tartar or calculus is formed when calcium and phosphate bind in your mouth they form crystals these crystal harden and thus you have tartar . Using toothpaste with tetrasodium pyrophosphate  helps to prevent tartar from forming by removing calcium and magnesium from our saliva inhibiting the formation of calculus. A clinical study on tartar was done over 12 week period using toothpaste with tetrasodium pyrophosphate and sodium tripolyphosphate  on 73 subjects who had a Volpe Manhold Calculus Index of 7.0 and greater. After the twelve weeks, the subjects saw a 43.5 % reduction in Calculus Index score. Triclosan is an antimicrobial which clinical studies shows kills the germs between our teeth and gum but some dentists believe this is not that important ingredient once we keep our mouth clean. These toothpaste can be easily be found in your local store check them out.
It’s got many positive reviews and a high rating of 4.4. Users have commented on its many benefits. Among them, many users have seen positive changes in the color of their teeth. In just one week you can see visible changes.
“One of the best out there. Highly comparable to the Sonicare Series 2. Compared to its higher-end siblings, like the 3000 or 7000, the 1000 Pro lacks fancier features like different speed modes, pressure sensor, and Bluetooth connectivity. However, if you don’t have sensitive gums, you probably do not need the pressure sensor, and if you do not obsess about logging your brushing performance in an app, then you can do without Bluetooth connectivity as well. For basic effective cleaning, this one does the job. It gives 20,000 rotations per minute. Two minutes of brushing with this leaves you with a fresh-feeling mouth. Definitely a good investment.”
If you’re like most people, the toothbrush you use every night to keep your mouth clean may not be clean itself. In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control, “Limited research has suggested that even after being visibly rinsed clean, toothbrushes can remain contaminated with potentially pathogenic organisms.”[1] Luckily, with proper cleaning and storage habits, your worries about keeping a clean toothbrush can be “brushed” aside.
The funny thing about electric toothbrushes is how similar a $70 model is to a $200 one. Once we get past the features mentioned above, there are precious few necessary value-adds to an expensive electric toothbrush: a travel case, a UV sanitizer (which is of negligible use), maybe a couple extra heads, a slightly sleeker body, a longer-lasting battery, auto-syncing with an app (See What about “smart” toothbrushes?). As for sonic cleaning, different cleaning modes, or pressure sensors, experts tell us they are not necessary.
Dental hygienists must graduate from an accredited dental hygiene program based in an institution of higher education. Hygienists must also be licensed in the state in which they practice. Requirements for licensure vary from state to state, but generally include successful completion of an accredited entry-level program, successful completion of the written National Dental Hygiene Board examination, a state or regional clinical examination and a state jurisprudence and ethics examination.
In addition, some electric toothbrushes, like the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean, offer more than one way of charging. One is through the easy use of a USB, and the other through a standard charging station. The convenience of charging may not be a big deal to everyone, but it is a diverse functionality nevertheless.
In their earlier work, the researchers showed how certain mechanisms regulated by vitamin D3 help clear amyloid-beta, the abnormal protein found in sticky plaques that clog up the important communication space between brain cells in people with Alzheimer’s.
First, mix one tablespoon of baking soda with ½ teaspoon of salt into the cup. After you wet the toothbrush with warm water, dip it into the mixture. Scrub teeth with it and spit. Continue the same process for five minutes.
I have been using the phillips sonicare tooth brush for almost 5 years. I found out how pricey the replacement brushes are the first time I ran out. Luckily Amazon has competitive prices and I was able to buy them here for a lower reasonable price. These brushes last a good amount of time, but be mindful of cleaning out the inside of the brush casing. Since water and toothpaste can run down the brush, after a while it will build up so you should be sure to rinse it under warm water to be sure to clean the inside out too. I have purchased four packs of 2 replacement brushes (soft) and I have had no problems with it. I would definitely purchase it again.
Sonicare claims that this line of brushes can track brush head wear based on time of use and amount of pressure used. A blinking light on the toothbrush handle indicates that brush head replacement is due.
Hello, I’ve been browsing the internet how to clean a toohbrush naturually, no rubbing alcohol! thanks for the info, should I clean it every week? say every saturday? twice a week? what would be the best days to clean it, I brush 3 times a day.
Hygienists are in demand in general dental practices and in specialty practices such as periodontics or pediatric dentistry. They also may be employed to provide dental hygiene services for patients in hospitals, nursing homes and public health clinics.

In performing the dental hygiene process of care, the dental hygienist assesses the patient’s oral tissues and overall health determining the presence or absence of disease, other abnormalities and disease risks; develops a dental hygiene diagnosis based on clinical findings; formulates evidence-based, patient-centered treatment care plans; performs the clinical procedures outlined in the treatment care plan; educates patients regarding oral hygiene and preventive oral care; and evaluates the outcomes of educational strategies and clinical procedures provided.
This range of brush heads includes: DiamondClean (standard & compact sizes), Adaptive Clean (standard & compact sizes), Intercare (standard), ProResults (standard & compact sizes), ProResults Plaque Control (standard), ProResults Gum Health (standard), Sensitive (standard), Simply Clean (standard & compact sizes) and For Kids (standard & compact sizes), C3 Premium Plaque Control (standard), G3 Premium Gum Care (standard), W3 Premium White (standard).
Currently, there is no research that supports the notion that more settings and modes provide a better cleaning. However, it is a good enough reason for manufacturers to offer such toothbrushes at a higher price.
The Philips Sonicare 2 Series is our top pick for offering an effective clean without feeling gimmicky. As a sonic toothbrush, its brushing head vibrates rapidly to help remove plaque. Our testers reported that this style caused the least amount of irritation to their gums when compared to oscillating models from brands like Oral-B. It has a two-minute timer, divided into four 30-second segments, to ensure you brush long enough to effectively clean your teeth and gums but not so long that you damage them. At $40, the Sonicare 2 is a solid investment in improving your dental health.
With the toothbrush still off, place it in your mouth. The bristles should be placed against the teeth and should have a slight angle towards the gum line. Close your mouth before turning the brush on. Otherwise, your bathroom will be showered with toothpaste.

The Oral-B Vitality Dual Clean electric toothbrush provides a superior clean vs. a regular manual toothbrush. The Dual Clean toothbrush head removes more plaque than a manual toothbrush with twice the cleaning while the in-handle timer helps you brush for a dentist-recommended 2 minutes. Best of all, it’s brought to you by Oral-B – the brand used by dentists worldwide.

  1. Discover the next level of oral care innovation with the Oral-B PRO 5000 SmartSeries with Bluetooth Connectivity electric rechargeable toothbrush. A revolutionary new way to take care of your oral health, it not only removes more plaque but also eliminates doubt. Download the Oral-B app on your smartphone and connect with Bluetooth technology to get real-time feedback on your brushing habits.
An ASA physical status classification system is used to indicate future treatment options for the patient, whilst considering the implications of risk factors, such as medical conditions (i.e. endocarditis, diabetes, smoking). This also allows the dental clinician to begin planning all non-surgical therapy.
This model offers the standard quad pacer feature that breaks down your brushing routine into four 30-second cycles. This is to help you achieve even and well-controlled brushing. At around $30, this is the most effective and affordable toothbrush on the market.
Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping one’s mouth clean and free of disease and other problems (e.g. bad breath) by regular brushing and cleaning between the teeth. It is important that oral hygiene be carried out on a regular basis to enable prevention of dental disease. The most common types of dental disease are tooth decay (cavities, dental caries) and gum diseases, including gingivitis, and periodontitis.[1] Regular brushing consists of brushing twice a day: after breakfast and before going to bed. Cleaning between the teeth is called interdental cleaning and is as important as tooth brushing.[2] This is because a toothbrush cannot reach between the teeth and therefore only cleans 50% of the surfaces. There are many tools to clean between the teeth, including floss, flossettes, and interdental brushes. It is up to each individual to choose which tool he or she prefers to use.
Suitable for all brush handles from Sonicare with the exception of PowerUP Battery and Essence, the ProResults can deliver over 31,000 brush strokes per minute on the appropriate cleaning mode, achieving the maximum cleaning effectiveness.

  2. I think it’s ironic that “dental professionals” are on this website telling ppl what to do and what not to do. The other thing that’s ironic is that most of these “professionals” are telling ppl to go to dental schools or free or reduced clinics. What they aren’t saying is you can go to a free clinic all you want but there’s a catch. You may have to be the 25th caller that day out of the entire state, or you may have to be homeless living in a shelter or the most care you can get is cleaning or extraction but no one is removing your tartar buildup. Sorry to tell you also most dental schools only have a few events where they may see the public which means if you miss out guess what? Too bad. People act like we aren’t going to die anyway and last I checked dentistry was expensive. If this works for ppl let them do their own thing. I highly doubt cave men had dentist or any other people before the 21st century. I guess money is the real cause for concern here why spend $5 bucks at home when you should definitely break your neck to get to the dentist who will charge you $1,000’s. If this remedy works then use it if you don’t like a part of it take it out but don’t let anyone tell you what to do with teeth that are in your mouth!
Stent placement. A small tube called a stent, which may contain medication, can be placed in an artery to maintain adequate blood flow. A catheter is used through the artery of the leg to reach the heart, and a stent is put in place through the catheter in the area of the blockage.

Please do NOT believe what you read!!! I work at a dental office as an assistant and have for 17 years, if your teeth look like this you MUST seek professional help to clean your teeth and have good overall health for your body. You can NOT take care of this on your own.

  3. A 2014 study published in the International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences showed that guava leaf extract causes a reduction in the adhesion of early plaque. It has excellent antibacterial and biofilm-inhibition activity against Streptococcus mutans that cause dental plaque.
Store your toothbrush at least 2 feet (0.61 m) from the toilet. When you flush, tiny water particles containing fecal matter escape the toilet and may land on your toothbrush if it is too close to the toilet.[4] While there is insufficient evidence that these trace amounts of bacteria cause illness, it is best to be safe.[5]
We absolutely feel that almost all users should just use Clean mode (at the highest intensity setting). But for people who can’t tolerate that much brushing activity (like elderly or debilitated person’s), this brush gives the user additional options that the 2 Series doesn’t.
So, I bought the Oral-B. I have used the app, and while it has some annoyances, the ability to track my toothbrushing habits is cool. I am a tech nerd after all. Reminders for flossing and mouthwash are on by default, but you can disable them. A suction mount to hold your phone on your bathroom mirror is included. I also like that you can setup the app to automatically order replacement brush heads through Amazon when the one you’re using at the end of its life. I found the overall noise to be more than tolerable, but there’s also usually music playing in my home no matter the hour.

  4. Two-minute timer: The single most recommended feature, a two-minute timer takes the guesswork out of your brushing sessions to ensure your teeth get enough time under the bristles. Brushing under the American Dental Association’s recommended two minutes can result in a less effective clean. Dr. Lawlor told us, “patients say they brush for three to five minutes, but when they brush in front of me it will be less than a minute.” Most electric toothbrushes now offer this reality-check timer as a standard feature, regardless of price.
Compact – These heads have a smaller bristled area. In most cases, they’re not an exact miniature of the head’s Standard design. DiamondClean, ProResults, For Kids and e-Series brush heads are available in this size.
With a contoured profile the head and bristles fit naturally to the shape of your teeth to help achieve that all round effective clean. The click on and off brush head includes the reminder bristles which fade from blue to white over 3 months and helps you know when to replace the head.
I find this very interesting. I have never had an electric toothbrush last more than a couple of years before the battery dies out (slowly at first, then completely). I am actually on this discussion board because the battery on the Oral B, bought approx. 2-3 years ago, now needs an every-other-day charge.
However, and once again like with the 2 Series, comments we’ve read on large retailer websites seem to suggest that first-time buyers tend to be relatively satisfied with this brush (as compared to using their manual one).

They found that both the active forms of vitamin D3 and omega 3 DHA improved the ability of the macrophages from the Alzheimer’s patients’ blood samples to absorb amyloid beta. They also noticed there was less of the cell-death that is normally triggered by amyloid beta.
Dental hygiene across Canada is a well-respected career with many opportunities. These possibilities include working in clinical, administration, education, research and public health positions. The wages vary throughout the country; from approximately $32 per hour in some areas to as high as $55 per hour in others. A surplus of new dental hygiene graduates in recent years has resulted in a decrease in wages in some regions.[citation needed]
The best electric toothbrush is easy to use, comes with extra bristle heads, improves your brushing technique, and is somewhat inexpensive. But, finding a model that is gentle on the teeth and gums, while eliminating plaque and food debris, is no easy task.

  5. The Flexcare+ and Diamond Clean are like a completely another world and could not be compared. I have used my Flexcare+ (HX6922) for more than 2 months and it is fantastic. I still look forward to brush my teeth with it and it is not to be compared with Oral B or lower end Sonicare. I had the Oral B Triumpf 5000 (Top model when I bought it) and it is not to be compared. It creates more noice, more vibrations in handle, is less sofisiticated and much lower efficiency (teeth does not feel silky smooth after brushing) and needs to be charged more frequently and have a clearly more noticeable difference in performance when newly charged.

I knew I didn’t trust dentists for a reason especially when they talk and spell in gangster slang, all these dentists do is ruin good healthy teeth, just try bicarbonate soda and lime, mix together to a slight paste and apply to toothbrush and brush, I found this to be most effective.
Our toothbrushes end up in his mouth, on the floor, behind furniture…you get the idea. Germs from all over the house end up on our toothbrushes. If we replaced our toothbrushes every day, we would go broke. So, we learned to do the next best thing…disinfect them.
The main draw of an electric toothbrush for kids in a digital age is the ability to use a toothbrush with an app (read: game). The Sonicare app is our favorite because it actually pairs with the toothbrush. In contrast, the Oral-B app is simply a timer meaning kids can log brushing sessions even if they don’t have a toothbrush in hand. In addition, a parental pin code on the Sonicare allows you to access the parent’s dashboard where you can track the progress of your kids’ brushing and even set up additional rewards. For example, if they brush 10 days in a row, you can set a personalized reward. Our tester’s parent reported “the Oral-B was more engaging for her than the Sonicare — she looked at the app a lot more.” This may be because the Oral-B uses popular Disney characters and plays songs when it’s time to switch from the top teeth to the bottom.
My dentist recommended a Sonicare to me after a horrendous cleaning back in late ’99/early ’00. It must have been the top-of-the-line at the time, as it was $90 his price to clients and he said that was heavily discounted. It lasted about 2 weeks between chargings (lithium ion) for years, but has slowly degenerated to requiring almost daily charging. So now I’m in the market for a replacement, and, like other commenters, can’t believe the number of models available! Having gotten great value out of the last one, I’ll definitely buy another Sonicare, probably the HealthyWhite+. Your research and approach are much appreciated, so a big thank you!
We have to assume that these numbers represent the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP). But on more than one occasion we found online retailers displaying a higher “listed” price (which makes their “discounted” price look better).
In addition, some electric toothbrushes, like the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean, offer more than one way of charging. One is through the easy use of a USB, and the other through a standard charging station. The convenience of charging may not be a big deal to everyone, but it is a diverse functionality nevertheless.
Any dentist will tell you that the key to prevent gum disease is to remove the tartar. Routine tooth brushing is the principal method of preventing many oral diseases, and perhaps the most important activity an individual can practice to reduce plaque buildup.[14] Controlling plaque reduces the risk of the individual suffering from plaque-associated diseases such as gingivitis, periodontitis, and caries – the three most common oral diseases.[15] The average brushing time for individuals is between 30 seconds and just over 60 seconds.[16][17][18][19][20][21] Many oral health care professionals agree that tooth brushing should be done for a minimum of two minutes, and be practiced at least twice a day.[22] Brushing for at least two minutes per session is optimal for preventing the most common oral diseases, and removes considerably more plaque than brushing for only 45 seconds[14][22]
This older Oral-B model is still available and still being manufactured. Thus, it comes with a two-year warranty and is about 4 times cheaper than Oral-B’s high tech 7000, 8000 and 9000 series. If you are looking to stay under $60, but still want an electric toothbrush, we highly recommend the Pro 1000 series.

When you are sick there may be more pathogenic bacteria than normal, and when you brush your teeth some of that bacteria is collected on the toothbrush. Studies have not been done to show how much is left after you rinse your toothbrush and if it would be enough to cause you to get sick again in the future or not. Just to be sure, when you are sick disinfect the toothbrush by letting it soak in an antibacterial solution for 10 minutes after brushing each time.
