One feature that’s very popular with the younger set, but maybe not so much with older kids, is its Bluetooth connectivity that enables your children to access an animated app to “get them excited” about brushing. While it’s a concept that many parents are willing to try, the reality ends up being less exciting, they note. One big downside: you have to have your device, such as your phone or tablet, in the bathroom with the child to watch the animations, which is maybe not the best environment for an expensive electronic device. We read a number of comments — even from those who otherwise love the toothbrush — that using the app becomes a bit of a chore and that their child tires of it quickly anyway. Still, plenty of other say their children do love it and it helps them at least get into better brushing habits that stick around when the allure of the app has worn off.
There are also some differences in the department of accessories. All three handles come with a stand and a travel case, but the travel case on the 7000 is a little bit different. Considered not just a carrying case, but also a “charging station”, this accessory will allow you to charge both your phone and your brush at once, it is a great bonus if you spend a lot of time in hotels. Since you aren’t likely to bring your brush without your travel case it helps make sure that everything is where you need it to be. I know that when I travel one of the things that I am most prone to forget is my charger.
A compact and portable toothbrush sterilizer with the latest UVC-LED technology that can easily fit into your travel bag. The UVC-LED tech has been proven to go through the bacteria cell walls, damage their DNA, destroy their replicating ability, hence achieving 99.9 percent sterilization.
Best toothbrush I’ve owned. I’ve had two electric toothbrushes, different brands and types, and both bit the dust. This one lasts longer than four sets of batteries.(That’s how long I’ve had it so far.) It is comfortable in the hand, and the sonic vibrations really do help get a cleaner clean. I suspect it gets to the unreachable spots, too, but I don’t know it.
If you’re reading dental health tips online, chances are you are already conscious of the impact of oral health. So, you probably know the basics: Brush at least twice a day, floss, avoid sugary snacks, and so on.
This is another brush with lots of great features from a lesser-known brand name. The Icoco is a sonic toothbrush that vibrates at 40,000 brushstrokes per minute which is higher than even Philips Sonicare. It automatically shuts off after two minutes and has a quad-pacer alert so you can brush all your teeth evenly. The Icoco also has five brushing modes: clean, sensitive, white, gum care, and massage. The brushing modes have their own button so it’s easy to switch around.
It is also important to stop using tobacco products. Using any tobacco product makes it more likely you will have mouth cancer or gum disease (periodontal disease). Using tobacco can also delay healing after you have a tooth pulled or other surgery on your teeth or mouth.1 Tobacco use also causes bad breath and stains your teeth and tongue.
We recommend Philips Sonicare electric toothbrushes here at Blue Back Dental. We have them available for patients, too. We invite our patients to purchase an adult Sonicare toothbrush at a special price of $85, or $40 off the retail price. We also have the Sonicare for Kids toothbrush for $65, which is also a discount off the retail price. Ask your dentist or dental hygienist if you have any questions.
The advanced ergonomic handle gives the Sensonic a smooth and sleek look. The blue rubber grip that runs down horizontally is perfectly positioned. Whether you are left or right handed, your fingers will always rest on the grip. This is perhaps the most comfortable toothbrush that we have tested.
… Population surveys of adult dental health indicate that levels of total tooth loss are decreasing worldwide (Bradnock et al. 2001). The transition to edentulousness is occurring later in patient lives because of increased life expectancy and lower levels of dental disease in the younger population (Allen et al. 2001). …
Sometimes, you might be brushing too hard but you’re not aware of it. This can cause soreness and bleeding. Over time, this can lead to serious damage, such as gum recession. The pressure sensor. Highly recommended by experts, a pressure sensor will buzz, beep, signal a light, or even pause your brushing to warn you that you could be brushing too hard.
Dental professionals are expected to engage in oral disease prevention, but their tools limit the approach to chair side activities based on the common notion that the major dental diseases, dental caries, gingivitis and periodontitis, are behavioural diseases shaped by individual lifestyles. However, lifestyles also have causes and individual behaviours reflect cultural norms, expectations and opportunities that are socio-economically determined and structurally maintained. Importantly, the effects of the societal and socio-economic determinants reach way above their influences as individual attributes, and effective approaches to the prevention and control of oral diseases are aligned with this causal chain. Unfortunately, the ethos and philosophy of dentistry is focused to a downstream, patient-centred, curative and rehabilitative approach to oral diseases. Whilst such services are needed to care for those who have already suffered the consequences of oral diseases, they do not influence population oral health. A more balanced distribution of efforts and resources along the whole range of intervention points from the downstream curative to the upstream structural healthy policy approaches is required if appropriate, evidence-based, effective, cost-effective, sustainable, equitable, universal, comprehensive and ethical delivery of health care, including oral health care, is the goal. The implementation of healthy policies and sound approaches to population oral health will require substantial commitment and political will on the part of the public and their elected officials.
Periodontal or gum disease is an infection that affects the gums and jaw bone, which can lead to a loss of gum and teeth. There are two major stages — gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis is the milder and reversible form; periodontal disease is often more severe. In some cases, gum surgery will be required to reverse the effect of the disease.
In general, electric toothbrushes clean better than manual toothbrushes. And Oral-B is the first electric toothbrush brand accepted by the American Dental Association for effectiveness and safety. This means they were proven to be effective and safe at removing plaque and helping to prevent and reduce gingivitis.
According to a survey conducted among dental students in central India, 70% of the students had not been trained in global health ethics and most of the students were not aware about the primary health care strategy created by World Health Organization which is essential to deliver primary care in underserved populations. The findings indicate a need for global oral health course among dental students in central India.

An electric brush is something you most likely will be using on a very regular basis, making the comfort and ergonomics of the brush important components. This rating metric comprised 30% of our overall score, second only to the cleaning test. Comfort is so important, as you really want to look for a toothbrush that will make it as easy as possible to maintain good habits and a model that is awkward to hold, annoyingly loud, or feels uncomfortable to use while brushing will definitely discourage them.
The trend worldwide is for individuals to live longer and retain more of their natural teeth; as a result, there are more older adults with more complex dental needs. Access to dental care for homebound elderly and nursing home residents can be problematic, even in countries with national healthcare systems. Developed countries with national health systems that include dental care have seen increased costs as their population ages. As oral health costs have increased for aging populations, some governments have examined new ways of preventing oral diseases, particularly root caries.
In a common dental practice, getting dental crowns is a long and often an uncomfortable procedure that can take a number of weeks to finish. However, our practice uses same day crown innovation, which enables us to scan, design, and mill stunning tooth-colored crowns in one day.

In my quest to find about teeth health and healthy living I went out for treasure hunting for information about our daily habits and the toothbrush contracted to do the cleaning job! How often do you brush? Are we brushing after every meal or at least twice a day? What type of toothbrush is in your bathroom? This toothbrush is beyond awesome. I have heard from others that the battery eventually does die but I found myself purchasing & throwing away the lesser model Oral B toothbrushes that you can buy in the supermarket or drug stores, on an a monthly basis anyway. I love the timer that not only tracks the 2 minutes that dentists recommend brushing (it begins the moment you turn the brush on – sends a wireless signal to it, so no need to press anything on the timer), but it also keeps tabs on how often you brush and will drop your stars if you don’t brush at least twice a day. It’s like seeing the dentist in-between seeing the dentist – you feel a sense of obligation to keep your 5 stars up when you notice them on the timer/tracker in the bathroom every day. I also love the red sensor notification on the brush when you are brushing too hard; I am a habitual hard-brusher so this helps as I see the light at least 3-4x every time, so its a helpful feature to take note of while brushing so you can ease off the pressure. I feel this brush cleans 5x better than a regular brush and at least 3x better than the standard battery operated brush. Heads are a little pricey but I think the cost is well worth it in the end; I have noticed considerable difference to my teeth & gums after only having used this a month or so. If it breaks, I will buy another for sure – bought the others in my family the lesser models & they like them, but the tracking feature and pulses aren’t as good as they are with this one, so I probably will break down and buy them all this model eventually – cleaner bills of health at the dentist will be worth it.

Adding cheap industrial fluoride chemicals to the water supplies of low-income communities is not just ineffective, it is dangerous. The toxicity of fluoride ingestion is magnified in people with nutrient deficiencies and kidney disease, conditions that are significantly more prevalent in low-income communities and communities of color.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) supports states in their efforts to reduce oral disease and improve oral health by using effective interventions. CDC provides state health departments with funding, guidance, and technical assistance to monitor oral disease across populations and to implement and evaluate oral health interventions.
While Waterpik knocked it out of the park with the Sensonic Professional Plus, the Triple Sonic is downright awful. It is essentially a generic electric toothbrush masquerading under the Waterpik brand name.
Yes I do, and I laid them out already: it’s a biased set of studies, performed by a biased panel, deliberately constrained to a extremely confined audience of one “special issue” of one publication. The methods and procedures are laid out by the revelation of the authors, their backers, and the publication. It makes the entire analysis suspect. You are taking their data at their word.
The Community Dental Service (CDS) provides dental services and a safety-net function for those unable to access GDS, including services for special needs groups. In addition, the CDS undertakes screening for dental disease, notably for children in Primary School, as part of the National Dental Inspection Programme. Screening takes place in Primary 1 and Primary 7 and the information obtained identifies those at high risk of dental disease.
Proper oral care starts when you’re young, and that’s why pediatric dentists are so important. These dentists treat people under the age of 13, though there are exceptions based on a child’s unique dental background. Pediatric dentists face unique challenges, because they must treat newly teething babies and children losing their primary teeth.
When using an electric toothbrush, all you have to do is hold the brush at a 45 degree angle and turn it on. There is no need to worry about how hard or how soft you are brushing because the toothbrush is programmed to take care of it for you.

Slightly more expensive again, at around the $50 level (WITH MY SPECIAL DISCOUNT CODE) but a great choice (if is the Amden Cybersonic3 ( read a review of this toothbrush). There are many forms of preventive dentistry, such as daily brushing and dental cleanings. To maintain optimal oral health, the American Dental Association (ADA) recommends visits to the dentist at regular intervals determined by a dentist. These practices are designed to ensure that teeth are clean, strong, and white. Children should be taught proper oral hygiene at an early age.
