Oral health disparities result from multiple, complex, interrelated determinants, and disproportionately affect low-income or racial/ethnic minority populations. The prevalence of untreated caries is nearly three times as high for non-Hispanic black adolescents than for non-Hispanic white adolescents aged 13–15 years (35% vs. 9%).47 The same pattern has been found in adult populations with respect to tooth retention. Significantly more non-Hispanic black older adults had lost all of their natural teeth compared with non-Hispanic white older adults (32% vs. 22%). The use of dental sealants, one of the strongest evidence-based preventive interventions for dental caries, is also substantially lower for children from low-income and some racial/ethnic groups.5

One of the greatest barriers to oral health care is a lack of dental services. This can be called the greatest unmet oral health need in the United States.14,15 Many people living in the United States have poor oral health due to lack of access to care, because oral health is not universally integrated into primary or behavioral health-care services. As a result, dental care is usually set apart from other types of health care.
Unique round brush head. The brush head on this electric toothbrush sits at a 16-degree angle, which helps it more easily reach between your teeth. The brush head is round with crisscross bristles, which help give each tooth a more focused cleaning. Additionally, the brush rotates, pulsates and oscillates to remove bacteria, plaque and tartar and keep teeth polished and white.
Caper suggested that efforts to define the term ‘quality’ should be abandoned in favour of the identification and measurement of its components.43 However, without an agreed conceptual framework underpinning these components they lack value and a link to stakeholder experiences and therefore their credibility can be questioned. Moreover, without a clear understanding of quality, how to measure it and improve it, there is a risk that dental services will not provide value and fail to improve quality.
First off, the value – the price seems like a lot (because it is) but I’ve seen Oral-B brushes at my local drugstore run at about $35.00 and up, and that’s without a replacement brush head included like this one has. I’ve been wanting to buy one of these for a while and they’re always stocked at my store, but they NEVER go on sale. Finally I checked here and found this beaut’ for nearly ten dollars less with a replacement brush included. Needless to say I was a happy camper from the get go, and I was not disappointed when it arrived, leading me to my next point.

Candidiasis – also known as “thrush,” it is a fungal infection that occurs in the mouth or throat due to an overgrowth of yeast. Symptoms include white spots inside the mouth or on the tongue, sore throat and difficulty swallowing.
I called oral b, they decided to send my coupons that can only use for rechargeable toothbrushes and can only be use in store not on amazon. But in a store like Walmart, the same toothbrush will take nearly $30. So basically, I’ll probably have to spend more money for a new same model toothbrush because my old one is dying quickly. And I cannot use my coupon on anything else other than toothbrush. I am extremely frustrated with this product.
The application of sealants is a recommended procedure to prevent or control caries. Sealing the occlusal surfaces of permanent molars in children and adolescents reduces caries up to 48 months when compared to no sealant, after longer follow-up the quantity and quality of the evidence is reduced. The review revealed that sealants are effective in high risk children but information on the magnitude of the benefit of sealing in other conditions is scarce. The relative effectiveness of different types of sealants has yet to be established.
Currently, there is no research that supports the notion that more settings and modes provide a better cleaning. However, it is a good enough reason for manufacturers to offer such toothbrushes at a higher price.
7. Use an electric toothbrush. An electric toothbrush can help you brush more gently because the toothbrush does the work for you. If you tend to overbrush, switching to an electric toothbrush can help. Electric toothbrushes are also better at cleaning below the gum line, which can make it so there’s less for the hygienist to scrape there.
The right toothbrush for you depends on your personal preference—do you want a classic brush that costs a couple bucks at the drugstore? Or do you want to shell out for an electric toothbrush that does some of the work for you? According the American Dental Association, they both work equally well to clean your teeth. But a powered toothbrush might help you ditch some of your bad brushing habits—like not going for long enough and failing to hit hard-to-reach spots—and a 2014 Cochrane review of gave powered models a slight edge over the classic toothbrush.

Proper nutrition means eating a well-balanced diet so that your body can get the nutrients needed for good health and wellness. If your diet is low in the nutrients your body needs, your mouth may have a more difficult time resisting infection.
I bought two of these brushes as gifts. I was disappointed to find out the white brush only had 4 settings, whereas the rose gold model came with 5 settings (it included the tongue mode). In the picture on Amazon, the white brush showed a tongue mode on the handle. Why am I paying the same price for two brushes that don’t have the same settings?
via oralb.com”Although many of our patients like Sonicare, and it’s great, I enjoy using Crest’s Oral-B due to its smaller oscillating head,” says Alan McDavid DDS, who practices with Magnolia Family Dental in McKinney, Texas. “It helps reach the narrow areas in my mouth where traditional heads would be too large.”

One outstanding improvement over older models is the use of a Li-ion battery. It avoids the memory effect of other types of rechargeable batteries, and provides consistent power right up until it’s empty.
While in use, the circular brush head oscillates, rotates, and pulsates, leaving your teeth fresh-from-the-dentist clean with every brushing. All this action also helps promote ideal gum health. But while the Oral-B Pro 7500 electric toothbrush packs plenty of power, what it won’t do is concentrate too much of that power: The toothbrush has a built-in pressure sensor that stops its motion and illuminates a light ring set into the handle if you are pressing too hard, thereby protecting tooth enamel from undue damage.

A fungal infection called thrush can occur in your mouth when the yeast “candida albicans” replicates in large numbers, as explained by the ADA. Although it’s usually seen in patients who are very young, elderly or live with weakened immune systems, it can also be caused by dry mouth, wearing dentures or a bacterial imbalance following a course of oral antibiotics. Mayo Clinic describes the symptoms of oral thrush as sore, creamy-white spots on your tongue and throughout your mouth.
State-based demonstration projects will help establish a basis for sound policy and fiscal decision making both for participating states and for future federal and state action. Recognizing the different challenges faced by individual states, the committee suggests that CMS build flexibility into and encourage innovation in the demonstrations. For example, states may choose to focus on providing oral health benefits to specific populations (e.g., “high-risk” enrollees with underlying health problems who are most likely to have associated general health care consequences and costs from poor oral health) or to examine the effects of providing benefits to populations across the board. Providing flexibility to the states will help to surface a variety of promising strategies. Finally, strategies for state-based demon-
Yes. On page 19 of the NOFO, it states “Recipients are required to submit letters of support from collaborating organizations. Letters of support must be dated within 30 days of the application and should describe the organizations’ roles and how they will help the applicant achieve the goals of the NOFO. How important you find these features will entirely depend on your personal situation. But the good news is that you can experience the best clean that a manufacturer has to offer at an affordable price.
One of the other main features of the Sonicare Flexcare Platinum is the ‘Built-in pressure sensor’, which alerts the user when they are using too much pressure during brushing. This is certainly something which not all of the competition have incorporated into their ranges, and in the opinion of the author this could be the secret to the success of electric toothbrushes. The problem of patients brushing much too hard, or even more commonly brushing the outside much too hard and barely touching the inside surfaces, is enormous.

As kids learn to brush, our sonic technology does the rest. The unique dynamic action of a Philips Sonicare electric toothbrush gently and effectively reaches deep between teeth and along the gum line. With over 500 strokes per second, sonic cleaning power helps compensate for developing techniques as children grow better at brushing. This technology makes a Philips Sonicare For Kids toothbrush up to 75% more effective than manual toothbrushes, resulting in more successful check-ups.
Brushing action varies on electric toothbrushes. Some models oscillate, some pulsate, and some use sonic wave technology. Some dentists say the latter may be slightly more effective in killing bacteria below the gum line and forestalling plaque buildup. However, we didn’t find any indication in reviews that one type of motion is better than the other. Oscillating, sonic, and dual cleaning all garner strong support.
Wipe down the toothbrush head with the bleach/water solution. Before you submerge your toothbrush head, wipe down the head’s handle. Dip a clean cloth in the toothbrush solution. Wipe the toothbrush with the cloth, removing any stuck on toothpaste, gunk, and other residue.
This is a Pinky/Purple coloured piece of rubber, that sits lower than all the other bristles of the brush. Inside the polishing cup are 4 thin bristles/upright rubber pieces that help give the cup strength. These are positioned at 9, 12, 3 and 6 o’clock, if you imagined the circle being that of a clock face. In between each of these are even smaller ridges inside the polishing cup, there are 3 between each larger support/bristles.
