I considered travel convenience since I am on the move a lot. Both come with travel cases. Oral-B is a nicer looking black case. The Oral-B is made by Braun, and the travel charger uses the same kind of plug as my Braun Series 9.

I finally decided to board the Sonicare train and thought I just have to go to Amazon, click on “Sonicare”, and buy one. Who knew there were so many different models? I despaired of ever figuring out which ones had which features until I found this site. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Flossing helps remove debris and interproximal dental plaque, the plaque that collects between two teeth. Dental floss (or dental tape) helps clean these hard-to-reach tooth surfaces and reduces the likelihood of gum disease and tooth decay.
The Genius Pro 8000 comes equipped with a travel case that is also a charging station. It can charge your smartphone as well as your toothbrush using only one outlet. We found that when fully charged, the Lithium ION battery lasts 12 days when brushing twice a day.
full disclosure: I switched from a Sonicare DiamondClean to the recommended brush in this article, but it (the Pro 1000) gums up around the brush head attachment and becomes really gross and hard to clean. I also get this weird white filmy buildup around the top of it that disappears when wet and then reappears. I thought it was toothpaste but the only thing that cleaned it off was Clorox wipes. I’m considering switching back to my DiamondClean as a result.
First off, I did a bunch of research for myself to compare OralB vs Sonicare and found that they were mostly comparable, when the user was properly “trained”. The biggest issue I found (and my own non-parent dentist can confirm) was that the small/round head caused more problems for patients, as they didn’t know how to use it “well”. In other words, the small head required different operation than the traditional “long” head style… as confirmed by studies (I can’t find this one at the moment) and my dentist.
In addition to this, we have excluded internationally made and shipped models. We found that such models often lack appropriate warranty and guarantees for the American consumers. They also tend to be quite scarce in replacement parts. Not to mention that it would take 3-4 weeks to get the desired replacements.
Q: How did the noise on the Sonicare Series 2 compare with the other Sonicare brushes you tested? The reviews on Amazon seem to indicate that it’s significantly louder and that the heads don’t fit as well.
Maybe he/she is from Alabama. I know a guy who visited there once and said his neighbor was a flat-earther and believed there was only 10 million people in the world and that the world is overpopulated.

Our testers tried the toothbrushes side-by-side for several days, evaluating how comfortable the handle was to hold as well as how gentle or rough the brush was on their teeth. The reviewers, particularly those who typically use manual brushes, preferred thinner handles and soft bristles. The testers scored each brush based on how clean their mouths felt after using it.
I tried one of these. Yes, the frequency is traded against amplitude but the movement is so small that when the tip of a bristle is pressed against a tooth it stops moving almost entirely while the shaft of the bristle continues to move.
In 1898 Smith presented a lecture on his system of periodic oral prophylaxis, which required patients to attend regular visits for prophylactic treatment and education sessions around oral home care.

These are great replacement toothbrush head for my Sonicare brush handle. I was using the oem brush head from sonicare for the past 2 years until I realized that there were cheaper alternatives online. I decided to give these a try and they function the exact same as the sonicare ones.Out of the box, the brush heads come with all the colored rings and brush head covers like the real ones do.
This phase is continuous throughout treatment, allowing the dental professional along with the patient to monitor the patients oral health status and assists in recognizing the need for change or amendment to the previously formulated treatment plan, according to the patients specific needs. Treatment is monitored using accurate periodontal charting and clinical observation of hard and soft tissues by the dental professional. The results of the periodontal charting and clinical observation dictates what follows the non-surgical periodontal phase. The three generalised outcomes that may result are essentially;
Dental hygienists in Australia must be graduates from a dental hygiene program, with either an advanced diploma (TAFE), associate degree, or more commonly a bachelor’s degree from a dental hygiene school that is accredited by the Australian Dental Council (ADC).
Outdated models – We avoided these not because they are out of fashion, but because they are mostly out of support. It is quite hard to find replacement parts and actual local support for models that the brands no longer manufacture.
I’m a dental hygienist and have worked in areas volunteering including in shelters where people cannot afford “regular” dental visits. But please please do not run anything acidic on your teeth and leave it there for it to scientifically proven eat away at your teeth. Baking soda does have a toothpaste but large amounts causes microabrasions in the teeth, potentially causing tooth damage and increased staining. Light toothbrushing half on the tooth half on the gums with a basic fluoridated toothpaste , floss, and listerine mouth rinse will do the tricks. These are scientifically proven recommendations. Tartar builds up from increased minerals in the saliva, it’s natural but it also builds up underneath the gums which staying there for years can cause bone loss and infection in the body. Try to go if you can save up the 120 cleaning at least once a year, and if not do your best but be careful wielding sharp picks in your mouth it took me three years of school to learn that skill 😉
With a contoured profile to fit your child’s teeth, the standard sized heads are most suited to children aged 7+whilst the smaller compact option are best suited to kids aged 4+. Soft bristles for a gentle cleaning experience helps encourage children to brush for longer and assists in education of the importance of regular cleaning.
Avoid sugary and starchy foods. The bacteria found in plaque thrive on sugary and starchy foods. In fact, every time you eat these kinds of foods, the bacteria release an acid which leads to tooth decay and cavities. To avoid this, try to minimize your consumption of these types of processed foods and pay special attention to your brushing and flossing routine if you decide to indulge.
The benefit that Lithium Ion batteries offer is that they are on average smaller than NiMH batteries. This often results in a smaller and slicker toothbrush design. They are also capable of recharging quicker.
The best budget electric toothbrush is the Pursonic S500. It has a reasonably comfortable handle, though our testers found its powerful vibrations a little rough while brushing. In addition to being one of the cheapest electric toothbrushes, it includes 12 brush heads, which should be enough to last about three years – about as long as you’ll own it. Most other brands are more expensive and only include three or fewer brush heads.
“One of the best out there. Highly comparable to the Sonicare Series 2. Compared to its higher-end siblings, like the 3000 or 7000, the 1000 Pro lacks fancier features like different speed modes, pressure sensor, and Bluetooth connectivity. However, if you don’t have sensitive gums, you probably do not need the pressure sensor, and if you do not obsess about logging your brushing performance in an app, then you can do without Bluetooth connectivity as well. For basic effective cleaning, this one does the job. It gives 20,000 rotations per minute. Two minutes of brushing with this leaves you with a fresh-feeling mouth. Definitely a good investment.”
For this best-value type of choice, we used to lean toward the Sonicare 3 Series. Now it seems (especially in light of some of the comments posted below and on retailer websites) that buying the HealthyWhite+ makes the better choice (both in performance and reliability).
Being a hygienist….has it’s tough days and easy days. LEARNING to become a hygienist is actually one of the most difficult programs you can go through – not in a stuck up way, but I have always been in honors courses throughout highschool and college, and studied 3 years for a double major before discovering and switching into hygiene. It is no joke – at least the program I was in. They only accepted 3.8GPA or higher and required pre-reqs.
Excessive Pressure Sensor – Pressing too hard while brushing is a real first world problem. This smart indicator senses when there is too much pressure being applied to the teeth and gums, and stalls the toothbrush for a brief moment. Applying too much force while brushing can lead to a variety of gum-related pain and discomfort. This feature is especially important if you are looking for a more sensitive toothbrush for receding gums.
Capable of removing up to 6 times more plaque than a manual toothbrush after 4 weeks use, the densely-packed, and high-quality tufts of bristles found on ProResults Gum Health brush heads help to effectively remove plaque and improve gum health.
