The above-mentioned research shows a 21% reduction in plaque after only 3 months of using a motor-powered toothbrush. It further claims a 6% reduction of gingivitis within a 3 month period.
I have been using the phillips sonicare tooth brush for almost 5 years. I found out how pricey the replacement brushes are the first time I ran out. Luckily Amazon has competitive prices and I was able to buy them here for a lower reasonable price. These brushes last a good amount of time, but be mindful of cleaning out the inside of the brush casing. Since water and toothpaste can run down the brush, after a while it will build up so you should be sure to rinse it under warm water to be sure to clean the inside out too. I have purchased four packs of 2 replacement brushes (soft) and I have had no problems with it. I would definitely purchase it again.
The median annual wage for dental hygienists was $74,070 in May 2017. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $51,180, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $101,330.
Reminder bristles ensure your most effective clean At first glance it may not be obvious, but brush heads lose stiffness and gradually wear down over months of normal use. Blue reminder bristles fade to white and help you recognise when it’s time for a replacement.
The fluid forces that were generated by the sonic toothbrush were able to produce the following cleaning effects in the listed time frames. 58% plaque reduction at 5 seconds, 63% plaque reduction at 10 seconds, 76% plaque reduction at 15 seconds.
Back in the day inventors were happy when they got to the point of running electricity through a toothbrush. This, however, is no longer the case. Just like technology did not stop with one kind of smartphone, it did not stop with one kind of motor-powered toothbrush. The continuous consumer demand for better and newer products has shaped the dental health industry into one of the largest in the USA.

On their website Phillips claim that the EasyClean removes 2 x plaque while more expensive models remove up to 7 x plaque. Do you think this claim stands up? If it does, then, although I much prefer not to have the extra modes it looks like I must!
Brush your teeth twice daily. Brushing your teeth is by far the most effective way of removing plaque, and brushing properly and regularly will help to ensure that less plaque builds up over time. This is important as built-up plaque can calcify into tartar, which is a lot harder to remove. You should brush your teeth once a day at the very least, but dentists recommend brushing twice; once in the morning and once before bed.
This is the main focus of this page. Trying to determine which model seems to make a best (most reasonable) choice in terms of effectiveness, functionality, reliability and so forth, while also keeping cost to a minimum.
Priced under $100, the Sensonic comes with 3 brush heads and a travel case. Considering that it also has the QuadPacer and EasyStart modes, together with a 2-speed setting, this Waterpik electric toothbrush is a bargain.
Before we dive into our reviews, it is important to make the distinction between sonic and ultrasonic. The two categories are often blended into one, mistakenly comparing them to one another. Even though both types essentially fall under the electric toothbrush category, their functionalities differ to a great extent. Here is some further clarification on that note.
The brushes themselves are small than those of philips’ brushes and cut into wavy shapes to fit the Outlines of each tooth. They are soft and round tips to prevent excessive abrasions of your gums. However, they are very durable because I bought the first one (this is about a month ago, still half the life span).
These are the latest effort of scientists and marketers to get people motivated to brush their teeth more often. Smartphone apps allow users to connect their toothbrushes to their phone devices and keep track of brushing habits and techniques. Most applications are quite interactive and offer high and low score based statistics on brushing performances. The ambiguous and scientifically untested thesis is that such apps help develop long-term discipline.
Tartar or calculus is formed when calcium and phosphate bind in your mouth they form crystals these crystal harden and thus you have tartar . Using toothpaste with tetrasodium pyrophosphate helps to prevent tartar from forming by removing calcium and magnesium from our saliva inhibiting the formation of calculus. A clinical study on tartar was done over 12 week period using toothpaste with tetrasodium pyrophosphate and sodium tripolyphosphate on 73 subjects who had a Volpe Manhold Calculus Index of 7.0 and greater. I have an ancient and long-ago discontinued Oral B Sonic Care Complete brush that I refuse to give up. I have duct tape on the band and have to pay a fortune for the proprietary brush heads on Amazon but honestly, no matter what other Oral B brush I buy, nothing compares to the old tried and true. So many new ones make my head vibrate from the inside out or the brush heads are wrong shape for my mouth. I really hate when any company discontinues a good thing.
We agree that the Sensonic is a good brush, hence we have included it on this page. But we’ve given it a lesser positioning because this page is specifically about Sonicare toothbrushes and ciphering through their line up.
I have been using the Deep Sweep for about 6 months now and while I agree it’s better than the Sonicare I previously had, I’m surprised you don’t mention how filthy it gets. Maybe I need to work on my brushing etiquette but I find the handle gets super gunky and on top of that, is hard to rinse because of the crevices.
If you want a powerful, yet gentle, clean, the Oral-B Pro-Health Clinical Pro-Flex Medium Toothbrush is right for you. It offers a superior clean thanks to two flexing sides that adjust to the curves and contours of your teeth. It cleans along the gumline, but is gentle on enamel and sensitive gums. It removes up to 93% of plaque in hard-to-reach areas and up to 34% more plaque along the gumline, ensuring a cleaner mouth and fresher breath. Yes, after looking closer, its not rubber, it has a small, pointed bristle head. It came with my SonicFX base, and set of brushes. I think they are called “interdental” brushes on their reorder web page.
