This article is remiss in not dealing with the huge issue of replacing batteries. The built-in obsolescence in all these brushes is both an environmental evil and an economic abuse. Imagine if a few torch manufacturers managed to corner the market, form an oligopoly and start making torches which you had to throw away once the battery died. That’s what we have here with this lot.
One argument in favor of electric toothbrushes is that they do such a good work, that eventually you will save money by not going to the dentist as often. While this is a far stretched argument, there is some truth to that statement. Realistically speaking, a solid sonic toothbrush should be able to keep your teeth in good health. Considering you are using it twice a day with no cheat days. Keeping your teeth healthy can, in fact, lower your visits to the dental clinic considerably.
Using the Sonicare DimaondClean Smart with the C3 Premium Plaque Control, G3 Premium Gum Care & W3 Premium White brush head? If so, thanks to a special chip built into the head, a brush head reminder icon will light up on your brush handle when it is time to change.
Toothbrushing plays an important everyday role for personal oral hygiene and effective plaque removal. Appropriate toothbrush care and maintenance are also important considerations for sound oral hygiene. The ADA recommends that consumers replace toothbrushes approximately every 3–4 months or sooner if the bristles become frayed with use.
Economically priced. Users report that their dentists recommended this model and have noticed the cleanliness of their teeth after its prolonged use. Multiple speeds help to ease manual brush users into it.
Balloon angioplasty. This procedure helps open clogged arteries that have become partially or fully blocked by opening up the blockage with a device that pushes the plaque to the side walls of the arteries.
If your children are old enough, have them help you pick out their toothbrushes. Getting your children involved in the process and excited about a new toothbrush may make tooth-brushing a more enjoyable task.
UV sanitizer – on the flex Platinum model of Sonicare toothbrush, the UV brush head sanitizer is offered. This can give you some peace of mind that your toothbrush head will be clean, but it is not a really essential for cleaning your toothbrush as you can simply run it underwater in the traditional way.
Apply tomatoes and strawberries to your teeth. Tomatoes and strawberries, like oranges, are rich in vitamin C. Cut them open and rub the juice on the surface of the teeth, leaving it to sit for about five minutes. Do not use strawberries or tomatoes or apples or oranges or any other plaque removing foods if you’re allergic to them. Rinse out your mouth with a solution of baking soda dissolved in water.
As examples, people seem to complain that this brush’s mechanism is noisy and less refined than the higher-end models. And some commenters on this page have complain that they consider this brush under powered (they don’t get the same “clean” as with more expensive Sonicares).
Q: How did the noise on the Sonicare Series 2 compare with the other Sonicare brushes you tested? The reviews on Amazon seem to indicate that it’s significantly louder and that the heads don’t fit as well.

In their earlier work, the researchers showed how certain mechanisms regulated by vitamin D3 help clear amyloid-beta, the abnormal protein found in sticky plaques that clog up the important communication space between brain cells in people with Alzheimer’s.
Please do NOT believe what you read!!! I work at a dental office as an assistant and have for 17 years, if your teeth look like this you MUST seek professional help to clean your teeth and have good overall health for your body. You can NOT take care of this on your own.
The Goby’s subscription can be set up to send new brush heads every one to three months. (Dentists recommend that you replace your brush every three months, so the more frequent options are not very necessary for a single user.) Amazon does offer subscription deliveries for its products, too, but only for Prime members. The replacement brush heads for the Goby cost $6 with $3 shipping, about the same as the 2 Series replacements and a little more expensive than the Oral-B’s heads.
If you’re interested in considering a sonic toothbrush that’s not a Sonicare, we’ve noticed the Braun Oral B Pulsonic. Its features list places it in the same general category as the Sonicare models we discuss on this page.
When it comes to chewing ice, many might think it will do no harm since ice is made from water. However, chewing on solid objects such as ice can have catastrophic consequences for your teeth. Chipping may occur and this can lead to more tooth fractures in the future. Chewing on ice has been linked to symptoms of anemia. People with anemia tend to want to eat food with no nutritional value.
Both plaque and tartar can form above and below the gum line. It takes a dentist or dental hygienist to remove tartar from anywhere in the mouth and to remove plaque from below the gum line. And regular, professional cleanings — as often as your dentist recommends — will help make your dental care at home more effective.
The median annual wage for dental hygienists was $74,070 in May 2017. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $51,180, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $101,330.
G3 Premium Gum Care (introduced with DiamondClean Smart) – Absorbs excess cleaning pressure to protect the gums. 2 times more surface contact. Automatically selects optimal cleaning mode for the best results. (Compatible brush required)
The best electric toothbrush is easy to use, comes with extra bristle heads, improves your brushing technique, and is somewhat inexpensive. But, finding a model that is gentle on the teeth and gums, while eliminating plaque and food debris, is no easy task.
Watch your diet. The bacteria in your mouth thrive on sugary and starchy foods. When they’re exposed to those foods, they release harmful acids. Try to eat a healthy diet and limit the amount of sugary foods you eat. That goes for snacks, too. Every time you eat, you also feed the bacteria in your mouth. You don’t have to give up sweets or between-meals munches. Just be mindful about how often you indulge. Brush and drink plenty of water during and after meals.
Remember that sonicare toothbrush heads are exceptionally high quality, and this can make them a little more expensive than manual toothbrushes. They are certainly worth it however, and if you want to save some money when it comes to buying replacement head, you should consider purchasing multiple heads at the same time.
This lower model usually sells for less than $30 and it can be a pretty decent first electric toothbrush. Considering your hand is tired and ready to make the switch from manual. Because it is priced much lower than any of the Oral-B Pro series, the Vitality does not come with the 3D cleaning action technology. Instead, it comes with the 2D technology which includes oscillation and rotation modes, but it lacks the pulsating one.
Small question from someone who doesn’t live in the US: Does the Oral-B Deep Sweep 1000 mentioned in the article happen to be called the Oral-B TriZone 600 outside of the US? I’ve tried searching for the Deep Sweep, but I can’t seem to find it, and this one (http://oralb.co.uk/en-GB/productdetail/oral-b-trizone-600-rechargeable-toothbrush/) appears to be the one most similar to the Deep Sweep 1000. It might be the TriZone 2000 (http://oralb.co.uk/en-GB/productdetail/oral-b-trizone-2000-rechargeable-toothbrush/), but the product manual of that one says that is has the ‘gums cleaning mode’ shenanigans, so I don’t think so. That same product manual also mentions a TriZone 1000 model, but I don’t see that mentioned anywhere else.
Eat apples and melons. Eating an apple or some melon directly after a meal will help to clean your teeth naturally and prevent plaque from building up on the surface of your teeth. This will also help to keep gums healthy and prevent them from bleeding.
Like an associate’s degree, you’ll have to complete prerequisite coursework for a bachelor’s program. While many of your classes—dental anatomy, radiology, dental materials—will be the same whether you earn an associate’s or bachelor’s, the latter will allow you to dig deeper into the profession.
There may well be one better suited to you, which you can decide upon based on the information provided below. We explain all the different Philips Sonicare Sonic brush heads in detail on this page and make it easier for you to understand which brush head to opt for.
Hydrogen peroxide can be used to clean your bathroom counters, used as a mouthwash, and even used to disinfect your toothbrush. Just soak toothbrush bristles in hydrogen peroxide for several minutes, then rinse thoroughly with hot water. (thanks Becca and Tara!)
Spend more than $30 or so, and you typically get a quadrant timer. This element, though a nice option, isn’t strictly necessary unless you like that style of brushing or your dentist has noticed that you struggle with brushing evenness. “The time spent in each quadrant is just an aid to help ensure that you brush long enough to remove plaque on every tooth at the gum line and chewing surfaces, assuming you’re brushing properly,” said dentist Matthew Messina, a consumer advisor for the ADA. “Plus, we are not aware of studies that show brushing longer in smaller areas has an added beneficial effect in removing plaque.”
Plaque is the term used for food deposits on our teeth is( usually has a white to cream color) it is caused by bacteria which forms a biofuel on your teeth from food particles and saliva. Tartar also was known as calculus is not plaque it is formed when plaque is hardened between teeth on the teeth .Mature plaque is like a community of different bacteria with various duties.Theses bacteria are only harmless if they do not form tartar once they do in 24-hour disease forming plaque and then tartar can form once not removed. Most people have less plaque on their anterior teeth which are your incisors and canines and more on the posterior those are the molars and premolars which are all loss by age 50 because of bad dental care due to the plaque. Even with everyday brushing and flossing many persons teeth get plaque resulting in tartar buildup between to 1 to 3 leading to gingivitis and bad breath.
