The brushes themselves are small than those of philips’ brushes and cut into wavy shapes to fit the Outlines of each tooth. They are soft and round tips to prevent excessive abrasions of your gums. However, they are very durable because I bought the first one (this is about a month ago, still half the life span).
There were a few things we didn’t like about it, though. First, it doesn’t switch off after two minutes — it simply pulses, meaning there’s a risk of missing the buzz and over-brushing. That said, if you like the chance to go over a tooth or two at the end of your clean, this may not bother you. Brushing modes: Different brushing modes — like teeth whitening, gum massaging, and pro-cleaning — change the number of oscillations or vibrations per minute. However, we couldn’t find concrete evidence that these different modes were doing what they promised. In contrast, studies show that simply brushing for two minutes with proper technique, using effective toothpaste, and flossing will live up to the promise of better dental health.
Dental plaque is difficult to see unless it’s stained. You can stain plaque by chewing red “disclosing tablets,” found at grocery stores and drug stores, or by using a cotton swab to smear green food coloring on your teeth. The red or green color left on the teeth will show you where there is still plaque—and where you have to brush again to remove it.
Kids’ toothbrushes: Our experts advised us to be realistic about how invested kids will be in dental care. If you can not afford to go to the dentist please find a dental school. Dental hygienist schools require students to clean teeth and they need hard cases . You could even be paid for your time ! Please do not attempt to do these cleanings at home . Brush and floss your teeth daily . The person posting this does not understand the bacteria present in your mouth or that calculous can be sub -below the gum line . If you have tarter build up like in the picture chances are you also have periodontal disease and need a cleaning below the gum line . Not treating this can lead to chronic health issues . I have seen extremely white teeth that an exray showed deep decay . Please see a dentist , go to a dental school , call around and see if you can make payments .
Philips Sonicare 3 Series Gum Health feels and works very similarly to the 2 Series, with a glossy plastic handle and minimal gripping ridges. Now that our runner-up comes with a quadrant timer, this toothbrush has no features that we think are worth spending extra on.
The non-contact cleaning action of a Sonicare is dependent on the way it agitates the fluids surrounding the teeth. As such, you’d have to assume that lower-power setting creates a lesser non-contact cleaning effect. But whether this relationship curve is linear or exponential in shape, we don’t know.
Well, one thing to note is that the brush’s second row of bristles is dark blue and fades when used – just like official one! When the row of brushes becomes completely white, you will know when to change the brush head.
I am not a dentist, but I do have a powerful story about baking soda. This made more of an impression on me than any other advice could have. And from that day on, I began brushing my teeth with baking soda, and I love it.

1. Pull the brush head away from the brush handle with a small amount of force to release the connection. There will likely be a click and you will revel a metal prong that is the shaft that connects to the motor. The head is now detached.

Plaque is a biofilm composed of bacteria. It’s literally an enormous mass of tiny bacteria. The individual organisms are microscopic, but when enough of them aggregate together, you get a slimy substance. Plaque formation is a normal, natural process. Soon after you brush, you’ve already started accumulating a “pellicle,” a saliva layer consisting of glycoproteins. This protein layer actually protects your teeth from bacterial acids. However, the glycoproteins also allow bacteria to adhere to the pellicle, leading to plaque formation.
We probably don’t need to tell you, but plaque is oral health enemy number one. During the day it builds up on and between your teeth. It leads to tartar, cavities and gum disease so you need to remove it daily to keep your teeth healthy.
There have been studies done that small amounts of germs become airborne from the toilet whenever it is flushed. Due to this knowledge some people store their toothbrush as far away from the toilet as possible. Really it only needs to be 2-3 feet away from the mouth of the toilet bowel, and even then it is not proven that the trace amounts of germs collected on the toothbrush will adversely affect one’s health at all. Just to be sure, I would discourage storing toothbrushes on the toilet tank.
