Provide tools and training to help adolescent health care providers, such as school-based health centers, establish youth advisory councils to better integrate a youth-patient voice into their practice
“We also see this as another opportunity to partner with dental professionals by educating them about this important topic and offering scientifically proven solutions for good oral hygiene at home,” she adds.
Unit uses inductive charging (i.e coils of wire on the charger, coils of wire on the unit, transferring power just like a transformer would). There is a single NiMH battery inside; it looks like it’s AA size. It doesn’t look like it’s intended to be replaceable.

A great toothbrush that leaves my teeth feeling clean. I previously used an Oral B toothbrush, but figured I would give the Sonicare system a shot. So far I am extremely pleased with this purchase. It was a little bit more expensive, but it seems so far that it was worth the upgrade cost. My teeth feel clean after using it, and the replacement heads really aren’t all that expensive.
“This dental office is the best. I was in so much pain, needing a root canal right away and they scheduled me the next day for immediate treatment. Dr carter explained everything to me thoroughly, and made me feel a lot less nervous about the root canal procedure.
Experts recommend that your child’s visits to a dentist start within 6 months after the first teeth appear or at 12 months of age, whichever comes first. If your baby has dental problems caused by injury, disease, or a developmental problem, see your pediatric dentist right away.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) adds that soaking your toothbrush could lead to cross-contamination if you use the same disinfectant over a period of time, or share disinfectant between users.

We tested this particular model by switching between the five available modes. It is likely that the battery could last a bit longer if you only use the daily clean mode. Other available modes include gum care, sensitive, whitening, and pro-clean.
Risk factors for oral diseases include an unhealthy diet, tobacco use and harmful alcohol use. These are also risk factors for the four leading chronic diseases – cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes – and oral diseases are often linked to chronic disease. Poor oral hygiene is also a risk factor for oral disease.
Rinse your toothbrush after use – some users like to take the head of in-between uses to ensure the toothbrush motor can dry. This ensures that mold does not grow between the motor and toothbrush head connection.
As a general rule, dentists will recommend that you replace your toothbrush every three months. This is because it’s likely that the bristles will become frayed and will stop doing cleaning effectively. If the bristles become frayed or damaged sooner than this, it may be worthwhile replacing your toothbrush earlier.
Have you ever wondered whether you have overlooked important steps in oral hygiene practices? In addition to taking good care of your own oral health, it’s also your duty as a parent to pass on good dental practices to your children. Sometimes, as common tasks become habit, we tend to lose sight of using the proper techniques. Read on for a quick refresher on brushing, flossing and eating well for healthy teeth and gums.
The harmful effect of perceived current stress on oral pain was more pronounced for participants without dental insurance and of lower socioeconomic position. It is not unexpected that dental insurance conditioned the relationship between perceived current stress and oral pain since dental services are not publicly insured for residents of Toronto under Canada’s Medicare program. This pattern could indicate that those without insurance are not receiving adequate dental care (i.e., have unmet needs); for example, because they cannot afford to pay for service out-of-pocket [28–31].
“So satisfied with this electric toothbrush: It’s my favorite fancy-pink color, has a super-amazing design, and is very convenient to use. It has a very powerful cleaning system. After brushing, my teeth feel so clean, and it can effectively improve gum and oral health. Great product!”

Oral health teams should integrate processes that foster productive interactions with patients and families into their clinical practice. In addition, oral health practice has evolved, requiring that cultural competency be expanded from the interpersonal level and integrated into new approaches at the community and health system levels. Models that describe systematic approaches have been developed for the provision of care for chronic conditions and children’s health.76–78 Also, novel frameworks integrate health initiatives for improvements among individuals as well as their families and communities.79

I have been using the Deep Sweep for about 6 months now and while I agree it’s better than the Sonicare I previously had, I’m surprised you don’t mention how filthy it gets. Maybe I need to work on my brushing etiquette but I find the handle gets super gunky and on top of that, is hard to rinse because of the crevices.
Ideally, dental procedures should be scheduled during the second trimester of pregnancy when organogenesis is complete. Urgent dental care can be performed at any gestational age.23 The third trimester presents the additional problems of positional discomfort and the risk of vena caval compression. Propping a woman on her left side, repositioning often, and keeping visits brief can reduce problems.5 Deferring dental care until after delivery can be problematic because new mothers are focused on the care of their newborn and may have dental insurance only during pregnancy.14
To test the batteries we brought each toothbrush to a full charge, and then (quite painstakingly, I might add), sat there and pushed the button in two-minute increments for hours on end to see how many sessions each could handle before they finally gave up.
Build your own holder with blocks for a creative choice. Use some Legos or wooden building blocks to create your own shallow holder for your toothbrush heads. Let your kids build the Lego ones while giving them guidance about how big it should be.
So, I bought the Oral-B. I have used the app, and while it has some annoyances, the ability to track my toothbrushing habits is cool. I am a tech nerd after all. Reminders for flossing and mouthwash are on by default, but you can disable them. A suction mount to hold your phone on your bathroom mirror is included. I also like that you can setup the app to automatically order replacement brush heads through Amazon when the one you’re using at the end of its life. I found the overall noise to be more than tolerable, but there’s also usually music playing in my home no matter the hour.
When the use of services is studied through the classification of different socioeconomic factors, the equity of the healthcare system in question can be indirectly assessed. In countries with systems that encompass policies for the universality of healthcare services, such as England, Canada, and Brazil, equity can be confirmed by the lower income population’s greater use of healthcare services .
The variables associated with poor school performance in the multivariate analyses (Table 3) included gender (male), race (Black), grade in school (6–12), parental educational level (high school), health insurance (public), and special health care needs. When both health status and school absence variables were included in the model, children with good, fair, or poor oral health were more likely to perform poorly in school (odds ratio [OR] = 1.62; 95% CI = 1.10, 2.38). This relationship held even when school absence variables were excluded from the model (OR = 1.70; 95% CI = 1.16, 2.49). Excluding health status variables from the analyses revealed that children who missed school as a result of dental pain were more likely to perform poorly in school (OR = 1.94; 95% CI = 1.04, 3.63). Mediation analysis results revealed that school absence related to dental pain was not a mediator between oral health status and poor school performance; rather, we found an association between oral health status and school performance independent of absence related to dental pain.
The Philips Sonicare 3 Series is literally life changing. I purchased one for me and my wife on recommendation of my dentist. At first I was hesitant. How much better could it really be? After the very first use I literally said this thing is magical. It leaves your mouth feeling clean like never before and it’s so gentle. I worried the vibration might be too intense. It’s perfect. It’s not weird. It’s very easy to adjust to over a conventional brush. I had early signs of periodonatal disease. After just four months with this tooth brush, my hygienist could not be more proud. My gum recessing has gone down substantially. This truly works. Pair it with daily flossing and some Listerine and you will be blown away by the result. Dental health is far more important than people realize. Take this simple step and you will be amazed.
We have seen a Grey model on sale and a cheaper White version – neither of which appear to boast the Bluetooth connection required for the app, so check that the brush you are buying has what you require of it. If you don’t want to use the app you can make huge savings by buying these less expensive models of the FlexCare Platinum.
