In my experience they are just as bad in terms of reliability, I’ve bought five of these 1000 series brushes in the last four years. That said, I still feel like they’re the best toothbrush out there for the money. Without user replaceable batteries, these things just inevitably die.
I have never experienced electric tooth brushes until i come across this post. Anyhow i feel they are doing great in arriving at the corners, which would be useful than manual brushing. Your share truly helped me to come up with good knowledge. I generally lean toward the
There are some interesting points in time in this article but I don’t know if I see all of them center to heart. There is some validity but I will take hold opinion until I look into it further. Good article , thanks and we want more! Added to FeedBurner as well. cara mengatasi anyang-anyangan
The technique is crucial to the effectiveness of tooth brushing and disease prevention. Back and forth brushing is not effective in removing plaque at the gum line. Tooth brushing should employ a systematic approach, angle the bristles at a 45-degree angle towards the gums, and make small circular motions at that angle. This action increases the effectiveness of the technique in removing plaque at the gum line.
The FlexCare Platinum comes equipped with 3 brushing modes: Clean, White and Gum Care. Each cleaning mode allows the user to moderate the intensity of the brush using 3 additional levels. This further helps new users to ease into this powerful sonic toothbrush.
With Power Tip® bristles designed to reach deep and help clean hard-to-reach places, the Oral-B Complete Deep Clean Toothbrush removes significantly more plaque than a regular manual brush. It also features longer gum-massaging bristles that gently clean and stimulate the gum line.
“One of the best out there. Highly comparable to the Sonicare Series 2. Compared to its higher-end siblings, like the 3000 or 7000, the 1000 Pro lacks fancier features like different speed modes, pressure sensor, and Bluetooth connectivity. However, if you don’t have sensitive gums, you probably do not need the pressure sensor, and if you do not obsess about logging your brushing performance in an app, then you can do without Bluetooth connectivity as well. For basic effective cleaning, this one does the job. It gives 20,000 rotations per minute. Two minutes of brushing with this leaves you with a fresh-feeling mouth. Definitely a good investment.”
Clean your toothbrush holder once a week. Bacteria that accumulates on the toothbrush holder can be transmitted to the brush, and then to your mouth. It is particularly important to clean your holder regularly if it has a closed bottom, like a cup.
Brushing Modes: 2 Kid-friendly power modes adapts to different ages providing a gentle cleaning that’s ideal for different ages. There is a low mode for ages 4 and up and high mode for ages 7 and older
Sonicare Essence is the best among the basic sonic toothbrushes. It’s got nice features for an effective cleaning and for an affordable price. However, for those who want more features like a quadpacer, more modes, and a more sleek design, the above options are more suitable.
According to the American Dental Hygienists Association, there are more than 330 dental hygiene programs offered in the U.S. Most hygienists have at least an associate degree, but some get bachelor’s degrees in dental hygiene – and even master’s degrees to further their careers. To practice, dental hygienists also have to obtain a state-specific license. Although the requirements vary state to state, most require graduation from an accredited program and the completion of a written and practical exam.
In Australia it is a legal requirement for dental hygienists/ oral health therapist graduates to be registered with the Dental Board of Australia before practising their scope in periodontology in any state or territory in Australia.
Eventually, the plaque grows enough that oxygen can no longer penetrate it. This kills off the aerobic bacteria, which need oxygen to live. At this point, anaerobic bacteria of many kinds begin to colonize the plaque. S. mutans is facultatively anaerobic, meaning that it can survive without oxygen if it needs to. The S. mutans and other anaerobic bacteria use biochemical fermentation pathways to break down sucrose, which generates lactic acid as a byproduct. This lactic acid can decrease the plaque’s pH to 5.5 or lower, which is the threshold at which enamel demineralization can occur.
Please be careful about re-spreading misleading information. I understand where you receive the information, but go into a highschool or college and they can verify your source is incorrect. I would hate to see people get sick because this does not work.
W3 Premium White (introduced with DiamondClean Smart) – Helps whiten teeth in just 3 days by removing plaque and surface stains. 4 times more surface contact. Automatically selects optimal cleaning mode for the best results. (Compatible brush required)
The Sonicare FlexCare comes with an interactive smartphone app that is compatible with iPhone and Android. Once you connect the toothbrush to the phone, you can start playing around with the location, pressure and scrubbing sensors. The idea of the app is to make brushing a more interactive process, as well as to help you improve your overall brushing technique.
Tracy, I was thinking the same thing. Scalers are not for the patient to use at home to remove tartar. You can break a tooth, especially one of the thinner anteriors. Even a chipped corner can change a person’s appearance when it’s a front tooth. Never mind the pain and sensitivity that might be involved. Not worth the chance to do at home. Might have been well intended, but bad advice.

The pressure sensor is meant to alert the user when they are brushing too hard, something that dentists and experts agree is a bad thing. In theory, then, a pressure sensor can be good. However, in our testing, we found that some brushes with pressure sensors required the user to bear down very hard on their teeth before the alert would trigger. The amount of pressure a user can apply before the sensor discourages them suggests the available pressure sensors are more of a gimmick than an actual useful feature.
Smoking is one of the leading risk factors associated with periodontal diseases. It is thought that smoking impairs and alters normal immune responses, eliciting destructive processes while inhibiting reparative responses promoting the incidence and development of periodontal diseases.
At my last teeth-cleaning the hygienist recommended use of a sonic toothbrush and showed me a Sonicare as an example. She also told me that the office had them for sale at a significant discount. I’ll admit the cynic in me took over, so after I left I went online to check out what a toothbrush cost on the market. Bewildered by the range of models and their prices, I found this review and it helped me to decide on the Sonicare 3. I was just about to pull the trigger with Amazon when I thought I’d check back with my dentist’s office and see which model they were offering and for how much. Turns out they were selling the top-o-the-line DiamondCare for $85. No-brainer there! The box it came in was marked as “Dentist’s Promotional – Not for Resale” or something like that, so I’d guess that Phillips is providing these at this price for dentists’ offices only. So if you’re thinking of getting one, check with your dentist first. They may be offering this deal.
Have you ever noticed that after a dental cleaning your teeth look sparkly and white, but over time they appear more dull and yellow? That yellowish color comes from plaque, a filmy substance made out of bacteria. Plaque accumulates on your teeth both above and below your gum line. You may find it unsightly, but what’s more, it can damage your teeth and gums if it’s not removed.
Eat apples and melons. Eating an apple or some melon directly after a meal will help to clean your teeth naturally and prevent plaque from building up on the surface of your teeth. This will also help to keep gums healthy and prevent them from bleeding.
Our toothbrushes end up in his mouth, on the floor, behind furniture…you get the idea. Germs from all over the house end up on our toothbrushes. If we replaced our toothbrushes every day, we would go broke. So, we learned to do the next best thing…disinfect them.
About once a month, I use a damp toothbrush dipped in baking soda and gently brush away from my gums, keeping it as dry as possible. Then I floss it under my gums in a downward then outward motion, which pulls the loose plaque out to be rinsed away. At 61, only 1 crown due to popcorn chipping off a corner. I use Reach rinse with fluoride with no alcohol. No need to ‘feel the burn’ to be germ free
The Interdental Tip brush heads are unlike any offered by Sonicare. They are ultra-small and their pointed nature makes them useful for brushing between teeth or hard to reach locations. (The Oral-B Pulsonic offers this type of brush head too.)
However, we know people like simple answers, so we have done our best to break things down a bit. Have a read over the sections below to see which brush head appeals to you the most. And be sure to check out the rest of this article if you need any more information – we’ve covered as much as possible, but if you’ve got any questions, ask in the comments.
Don’t do hygiene! No jobs, no benefits, crazy employers. When you get older they will want younger and you will be out. The work will ruin your back, hands and is psychologically tolling. Dead end boring career. Sorry I wasted my time in it.
Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping one’s mouth clean and free of disease and other problems (e.g. bad breath) by regular brushing and cleaning between the teeth. It is important that oral hygiene be carried out on a regular basis to enable prevention of dental disease. The most common types of dental disease are tooth decay (cavities, dental caries) and gum diseases, including gingivitis, and periodontitis. Regular brushing consists of brushing twice a day: after breakfast and before going to bed. Cleaning between the teeth is called interdental cleaning and is as important as tooth brushing. This is because a toothbrush cannot reach between the teeth and therefore only cleans 50% of the surfaces. There are many tools to clean between the teeth, including floss, flossettes, and interdental brushes. It is up to each individual to choose which tool he or she prefers to use.
We can say that the Sensitive and ProResults heads they mimic are older technology. And while we don’t swallow everything that Sonicare has to say, the ProResults (and likely the Sensitive too since it’s similar looking) is likely a less-efficient brusher than the heads with a more modern design.
Remember, it’s not so much about getting your whole mouth clean in less than 2 minutes. Be willing to give the inside of the lower front teeth the attention necessary to keep this area clean. Doing so will help the whole mouth stay healthier.
Our testing showed that sensitive modes will reduce the speeds of the toothbrush, which may make them more comfortable for those with sensitive teeth. But the Sonicare is also compatible with brush heads offering softer bristles specifically designed for sensitive teeth. In fact, unlike many others, Sonicare offers a variety of brush heads to help you find the perfect comfort level. In addition, replacing brushing heads feels seamless with the Sonicare — removing and placing a new head took very little effort. Competitors like the Foreo Issa had heads that took a large amount of force to remove — so much so that one of our testers actually rocketed the brushing head across the room.
Fiber helps prevent overeating by making you feel full and helps to block fats and cholesterol. High fiber foods include corn, avocado, beans, whole grains, soybeans, lentils, pears, oatmeal, artichoke, peas, apples and nuts.
Electric toothbrushes are toothbrushes with replaceable moving or vibrating bristle heads. The two main types of electric toothbrushes are the sonic type which has a vibrating head, and the oscillating-rotating type in which the bristle head makes constant clockwise and anti-clockwise movements.
If your battery dies, contact the merchant or store if it’s under a certain period of time to invoke the warranty, but if it’s after an extended period of time, contact the maker (Oral-B, Philips). It’s not unheard of for them to send you a new brush for nothing if your battery dies.
Hi I went to school for dental assisting and hate it! My dream job is to become a hygienist and assisting is just a foot in the door, but all these negative comments has me thinking. Should I go for hygiene school or not? I really want to tho!
