I feel it worth mentioning that the Deery et al. paper cited as evidence that powered is better than manual is actually far more equivocal. Statistically significant, yes, but very weak effect size, something like 5-15% lower “scores” for plaque and gingivitis. Such small effects may be just as well due to placebo-like effects. And, as the authors themselves state, it is unclear that there is any clinical benefit to this small reduction in these scores. Overall, the case for powered is I think considerably weaker than portrayed here.

Their S520 toothbrush is their most expensive and highest performance one. Pursonic maintains that the S520 model is capable of reaching up to 40,000 brush strokes per minute. Our tests, however, found this toothbrush to be significantly weaker compared to pretty much any Philips electric toothbrush that is priced over $30. In our opinion, the brush strokes per minute did not exceed 15,000.
I have owned my toothbrush for four years. In fact, I bought this product in 2012 for $31 and am only reviewing it now! It looks like the price went down a bit since I bought it. Since then, I have obviously bought many other replacements since $31 is expensive in comparison.

If you do not press the Flexcare+ to hard against your teeth it feels like a really professional cleaning tool at the dentist in a positive way, 2 times every day. Buy!! I will be very surprised if you ever regret it. Most probably you will think, why did I not buy this before and why does not more people know about it as it is such a difference. This product is crazy good I would say and I am picky about products and Philips have made me disappointed several times last 10 years, but not this time. It is an amazing product.

You may thinking, “just buy a new toothbrush!” But if that’s the case, you’ve never met my two boys, especially the toddler, who can find a toothbrush no matter where it’s hidden! Seriously. He will move any kind of object (i.e. trash can, box, etc.) to creatively use as a step stool. He’ll climb right on top and grab our toothbrushes off the back of the bathroom counter. He will find them tucked away in the back of the bathroom drawer. It doesn’t matter where we hide the toothbrushes, he will find them.
In many ways we’re probably too critical. But we have a high regard for sonic toothbrushes in general, and Sonicare in particular, and just feel that the features they offer should be more about substance than hype.
The Philips Sonicare 2 Series is one of the least expensive Sonicare brushes, at around $50. I like the product very much. I just received it yesterday, but I was having trouble with the connection. The usb did not fit well into the plug provided by the product. The light did not go on, so I knew it was not cleaning the brush. I connected the usb to my cell phone charger plug and it works well. I would like the company to send me a replacement plug, so I don’t have to use my cell charger.

When you choose a sonicare toothbrush, you should look out for models that offer you the ability to change the intensity of the sonic vibrations. Overall, we preferred the Quip. Honestly, subscription services don’t actually offer anything we can’t find elsewhere.
We absolutely feel that almost all users should just use Clean mode (at the highest intensity setting). But for people who can’t tolerate that much brushing activity (like elderly or debilitated person’s), this brush gives the user additional options that the 2 Series doesn’t.

It is unfortunate not all of us has dental coverage, I didn’t until recently as well. Stick to the basics people! Brushing and flossing goes a long way to help keep your teeth and gums healthy! As far as home remedies are concerned. I truly believe they can be helpful; my mother used them with me and I have worked closely with a homeopath. It is important to know when a home remedy is useful and when you need to seek professional help! Physicians and dentists go to school for many years to learn their specialty.
