Hi, I’ve been a dental hygienist for almost 9 years and even though I’m currently in the midst of re-negotiating my pay and benefits with my employer, I have been very satisfied with my career overall. It seems to us that you could make that case. But we’d also suggest that setting that requirement might indicate that the way the brush is being used isn’t the manner for which it was designed. full disclosure: I switched from a Sonicare DiamondClean to the recommended brush in this article, but it (the Pro 1000) gums up around the brush head attachment and becomes really gross and hard to clean. I also get this weird white filmy buildup around the top of it that disappears when wet and then reappears. I thought it was toothpaste but the only thing that cleaned it off was Clorox wipes. I’m considering switching back to my DiamondClean as a result.

FWIW, I bought an Oral-B ProfessionalCare 1000 based on the recommendation here, after I lost my 4000. The 4000 cleaned my teeth much more thoroughly–I can often feel some guck on my teeth after using the 1000, which never happened with the 4000. The 4000 “pulsates” at 40,000 pulsations/minute, compared with teh 20,000 for the 1000. YMMV, but the 4000 works a lot better for me.

The massage mode is especially relaxing and it felt really good on the gums. While the deep clean might come too strong for new users. Oil pulling also does wonders. I am a firm believer that there are natural ways to aid in clean and healthy teeth instead of all the chemicals dentists use. My teeth are cavity free and clean and shiny from oil pulling. If you haven’t tried it, I suggest you look it up and try for a couple weeks. Amazing results. No harm in trying, right?
I’d encourage you to check out the video of all the toothbrushes vibrating, they’re all labeled so you can hear what the 2 Series sounds like compared to everything else. In my experience, it was significantly quieter than any of the Oral Bs and hardly different from the rest of the Sonicares.
