But what really sets the Aura Clean Sonic Toothbrush apart from its competitors? It’s the Aura Clean Base Station – a unique enclosed charging base for the toothbrush handle and brush head that won’t take up a lot of space on your vanity, and it also cleans and dries your brush head! Once you dock your damp toothbrush after use, the 360-degree Aura Clean Halo uses powerful UVC rays to kill 99.9% of bacteria, and then the built-in dryer wicks away any moisture from the brush to ensure that no germs or bacteria stand a chance. After all, what’s the point of trying to duplicate that “just came from the dentist” feeling if you’re not even using a hygienic toothbrush?
It also comes with a regular, non-rechargeable battery. This makes sense for a travel toothbrush as you don’t want to be charging on the go. But it also makes it harder to tell if the power is still at its peak, which the experts say is crucial for an effective brush.
Another example of a community development initiative directly relevant to oral health are food co-operatives. The establishment of fruit and vegetable food co-operatives within deprived neighbourhoods lacking access to cheap and appealing healthy foods increases the food choices available to these communities.69
Oral health care has changed from considering only the clinical aspects of oral conditions to placing greater emphasis on the subjective experience of the mouth. Subjective experience is especially important in relation to dentine hypersensitivity (DH) because it is a “short, sharp pain arising from exposed dentin in response to stimuli typically thermal, evaporative, tactile, osmotic, or chemical and which cannot be ascribed to any other form of dental defect or disease.”1 This diagnosis of exclusion indicates that the condition does not have unique clinical signs. It therefore gives primacy to the affected person or persons to detect and evaluate treatment for the condition.
Oral-B 5000 ($100): Basically the same as this toothbrush, but missing a few extras like a nicer carrying case and tongue cleaning mode. The tongue cleaning mode isn’t necessary — you’re better off grabbing a real tongue scraper anyway.
When the use of services is studied through the classification of different socioeconomic factors, the equity of the healthcare system in question can be indirectly assessed. In countries with systems that encompass policies for the universality of healthcare services, such as England, Canada, and Brazil, equity can be confirmed by the lower income population’s greater use of healthcare services [46].
Dry Mouth Overview We all need saliva to moisten and cleanse our mouths and digest food. Saliva also prevents infection by controlling bacteria and fungi in the mouth. When we don’t produce enough saliva, our mouth gets dry and uncomfortable.
The variety and diversity of rechargeable toothbrushes on the market can be overwhelmingly annoying. Especially, when you have decided to buy and use one. Besides the numerous differences in design, color and battery life, motor-powered toothbrushes also differ in the manner in which they clean teeth. In fact, there are five different ways to choose from.
Screening and preventive interventions by primary care providers could improve outcomes related to early childhood caries. The objective of this study was to update the 2004 US Preventive Services Task Force systematic review on prevention of caries in children younger than 5 years of age.

Background and purpose: The purpose of the ADHS is to provide important information about the dental health of adults in the four nations of the UK (see note on Scotland in the paragraph below). The survey investigates the current state of adults’ dental health, their experiences of dental care and their access to dental services; it also measures changes over time. This information helps health authorities/boards to effectively plan local dental services and shows the extent to which government dental health targets are being met.
Consider a toothbrush sanitizer. While studies do not show any particular benefit to these devices, you can purchase one that has been cleared by the FDA. Toothbrush sanitizers kill up to 99.9% of bacteria on the brush. (Sterilizing means that 100% of bacteria and living organisms have been killed, and no commercial toothbrush cleaner can claim this.)

“So satisfied with this electric toothbrush: It’s my favorite fancy-pink color, has a super-amazing design, and is very convenient to use. It has a very powerful cleaning system. After brushing, my teeth feel so clean, and it can effectively improve gum and oral health. Great product!”
You can enjoy and more comfortable hold if you choose a toothbrush that has a soft grip handle. These toothbrushes have a rubber styled body so that you can keep a firm hold on it without it’s becoming uncomfortable. This is also important to minimize the vibrations that you feel in your hand from the motion of the electric toothbrush.
Fast and powerful motor. This Fairywill electric toothbrush boasts 35,000 brush strokes per minute, which creates so much movement that the fluids in your mouth will clean the hard to reach areas between your teeth. You can also choose between five different settings, ensuring that no matter how sensitive your teeth may be, you will receive a deep cleaning each time you use this toothbrush.
For the vast, vast majority of people, they should simply concentrate on removing as much dental plaque from their teeth as they can during the brief period of time they are willing to dedicate to brushing. (Yes, we’re of the opinion that most people don’t brush often enough or long enough.)

While it’s not common knowledge, the American Dental Association recommends brushing your teeth at 120g of pressure, or in other words, the weight of an orange. Be. is designed to operate at the exact 120g pressure, halting agitation when the limit is exceeded and training users to brush thoroughly, but consciously. This technology will help save tooth enamel, reduce gum recession, increase the longevity of bristles and keep costly dental bills to a minimum.

Whether you need any additional steps or not, the key is to keep going back to the dentist for regular teeth cleanings to prevent problems altogether. By understanding what’s going on in advance, you’ll feel more at ease — and maybe even look forward to these appointments.
Battery life is one of the top factors that buyers consider when shopping for an electric toothbrush. For rechargeable brushes, the typical amount of time from full charge to empty is about two weeks. But battery life varies by brand and usage frequency.
Study subjects, aged 18-70 with no known health issues were selected at random from the community and divided into two equal groups, with half using an Oral B 5000 Oscillating/rotating electric toothbrush, and the other have were given a Sonic toothbrush.  All study subjects were given a baseline assessment of gingivitis, a common oral hygiene problem that affects nearly 50% of adults to some extent, which leads to swollen and bleeding gums, and plaque/tartar visible on the interior and exterior of the teeth.

New York Times: Preschoolers in Surgery for a Mouthful of Cavities. “I have parents tell me all the time, ‘No one told us when to go to the dentist, when we should start using fluoride toothpaste’ – all this basic information to combat the No.1 chronic disease in children.”  Dr. Jonathan Shenkin, a pediatric dentist, on an increase in the number of preschoolers with cavities.
I bought the Quip a year and a half ago, for $45 + free four refills. I’ve paid for two refills since getting it, and while it’s satisfactory, it’s expensive for what it offers. The subscription service isn’t really as convenient as their pitch implies. You can buy a pack of 4-8 replacement brush heads from Sonic Care or Oral-B at a time. No annoying hipstery emails reminding you that you need to replace your brush head already.
Sonicare For Kids – These toothbrush heads are to be used with the sonicare for kid’s rechargeable toothbrush. The brush heads are designed to fit better in children’s mouths and as a result, they are smaller than the standard adult toothbrush heads. In addition, these are softer brush heads. If you have particularly soft gums or if you have sensitive teeth, you could even use these brush heads for your own use as the soft bristle ensure a more gentle clean.

Many people ask whether these brushes are better than the traditional toothbrush. It turns out that better technology truly does provide an improved experience when it comes to dental health. According to studies that have been published in leading dental journals, electronic toothbrushes have been shown to be more effective at the prevention of gingivitis and removal of plaque, notes Go Ask Alice, a health questions resource provided by Columbia University.
The main purpose of the Campaign for Dental Health is to promote and defend community water fluoridation. This is done by publishing strong online resources for a wide variety of audiences that raise awareness of oral health and the benefits of disease prevention. Community water fluoridation is solely the easiest and most equitable method of preventing dental diseases. However, to end the social and economic disparities that result in high rates of dental disease especially in families with low incomes and communities of color we need to do more than just fluoridate water!
The aluminum handled quip toothbrush starter set without the toothpaste costs $45 and then you’ll be billed $5 every three months to receive a replacement head. That works out to $60 for the first year. You can save $5 if you prepay $55 up front for that first year. The starter set with the plastic handled version of the quip is priced at $25. That means the quip toothbrush with one year of refills will cost you$40 – $50 more a year more than buying a 4 pack of manual toothbrushes for $5 at a local retail store. The only features missing when you go with a manual toothbrush are the holder/travel cover and the 2-minute brushing timer.
The key to finding a toothbrush that works well for kids with sensitive teeth is looking for ones with soft bristles too. You can use a plastic toothbrush or a natural one, but those bristles have to be so soft that they don’t irritate a child’s already sensitive teeth.

Rest of the aspects are almost same when it comes to the design and build quality. It’s neatly designed that the brush looks awesome on the table you have. However, in addition to the Smart Timer, Philips Sonicare 3 Series Gum Health Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush also has a Quadpacer.
Connie – I’m in Florida too. Moved here not too long ago and my first dentist visit was NOT fun. I have visited the dentist twice a year (without problems) since I’ve had teeth (I am 40 now). Now, in Florida, all of a sudden I need a deep cleaning at $2000 of which they say insurance will pay $1300 and they REFUSED to give me a regular cleaning! They say that because they have decided it is a deep cleaning that I need they cannot give me a regular cleaning. Nice, huh?!?
First, let me note that most of the reviews are for the Pearl White model, but I bought the Black model. It’s slightly different in that it has 5 settings vs. 3 and there’s no charger cradle for it. However, it appears everything else is the same. It even can use the Pearl White replacement heads, which I wasn’t sure of since the replacement heads state that it’s only for the Pearl White model (in point of fact I couldn’t find the black model replacement heads on Amazon, which is why I explored this option).
Good oral health is important for good general health and quality of life. Oral health affects both physical health and mental health. It affects how we grow, enjoy life, look, speak, chew, taste food and socialize. Dental care remains the top unmet health care need for low income adults, older adults, and children with special health care needs. But dental disease is largely preventable by practicing simple behaviors at home. Learn ways to prevent tooth decay and gum disease and enjoy better overall health.
Professional dental care alone, however, is inadequate to prevent periodontal diseases. Smoking has been implicated in approximately 50% of periodontal disease cases in adults. Abstaining from tobacco use, maintaining good oral hygiene, and having your teeth cleaned professionally are the most effective ways to prevent periodontal diseases.
Both Oral-B and Sonicare make extensive lines of brushes and don’t exactly go to pains to make it clear what the difference is between all of them. Although the Oral-B 7000 costs more than the Oral-B 1000 because of added, unnecessary features, such as additional “cleaning modes,” we chose to test it to see if the user experience was better. It wasn’t.
• Congress can fund the Oral Healthcare Prevention Education Campaign authorized by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) [Public Law 111-148, Title IV, Sec. 4102] which calls for a national public education campaign focused on oral health and disease prevention targeted towards vulnerable and underserved populations.
Preventive Dentistry is the practice of keeping healthy mouth. This practice helps to avoid gum disease, cavities, plagues, tooth loss. Preventive dentistry can be practiced in the form of daily brushing and annual dental cleanings. These practices are designed to ensure that teeth are clean, strong, and white.
When you are choosing between different types of toothbrushes, you’ll find that there are plenty of different options for you to choose from. When it comes to powered toothbrushes, two of the main kinds of toothbrushes that you can choose include battery powered or rechargeable toothbrushes. But which one will be best for your needs?
Always look for a brush whose head and bristles are small enough to reach into the crevices of your molars, where food debris can hide after you eat. According to the International Dental Health Association, most adults require a small- or medium-sized toothbrush for this purpose.

  1. If you are not 100% satisfied with any purchase made directly from Life Extension®, just return your purchase within 12 months of original purchase date and we will either replace the product for you, credit your original payment method or credit your Life Extension account for the full amount of the original purchase price (less shipping and handling).
The identical model Oral-B brand brush heads have been available on Amazon at widely varying pricing. I strongly suggesting careful shopping and be sure you are getting the genuine product and not a “compatible” head from another manufacturer.
Unique sonic technology and dynamic cleaning action drives gentle microbubbles deep between teeth and along the gum line, while the brush head gently massages the gums to stimulate blood circulation and dislodge plaque. It’s no wonder Philips Sonicare is one of the most loved electric toothbrush brand by Americans and their dentists.
Trapped germs on the tongue can lead to bad breath and affect your sense of taste, and the bacteria can travel to other parts of your mouth. Overgrowth of bacteria can turn your tongue yellow, white or even black and hairy-looking.
Ive only had it a couple weeks so time will tell. I was looking for a unit with a smaller diameter handle. My daughter has had the same one for about 5 years and hers is still going strong. It comes with 1 brush head, plug-in charging base, brush holder for several brushes which you can opt not to use if you have limited space and a manual. It has 3 speeds which is nice, so far it’s super fast on all of them. The pressure indicator light seems too sensitive and flashes even when I’m just gliding the brush over my teeth/gums. It was annoying at first but I’ve already learned to ignore it. It’s a bit loud compared to my old Oral B but sounds about like all the brushes we have. The manual says it holds a charge for 7 days under normal 2X a day brushing. I charged it fully, unplugged it on a Friday and it ran out of juice the following Friday. My old brush slowed down when it needed charging but this one gave no indication that it was running out of charge. The charging unit itself is small and takes up very little space if you don’t use the multi-brush head holder.
Recently I visited my dentist twice, one for tooth pain and the other for gum issues. I was told to brush my teeth in correct way and recommended to shift to an electric toothbrush. So I decided to try one. I ordered this brush for the attractive points, powerful cleaning, fast to charge and hold, optional modes for my sensitive gums, 2 minutes timer and 30 seconds reminder, waterproof for shower and bath and of course a fair price!
Lack of accessible, affordable dental coverage can lead to adverse health outcomes.  Data shows, for example, that certain oral conditions including periodontal disease can increase risk for heart attacks and strokes.[10] Conversely, many chronic health conditions can contribute to oral health problems, leading to further complications like those above.[11]
Teeth Whitening and Stain Removing. The fast speed of strokes helps to effectively deal with stains on the teeth. Generally, people who have been using a toothbrush with sonic technology for a week have noted that their teeth got a shade brighter. These toothbrushes also sometimes or offer to buy additionally special brush heads specifically designed for polishing and whitening the teeth.
Advocacy Day is a part of OHA’s annual Fall for Smiles campaign, which strives to educate Americans every September and October about the importance of maintaining a healthy mouth and is a component of OHA’s year-long Campaign for Oral Health Equity effort, graciously sponsored by Tom’s of Maine. This year’s theme, Our Future, Our Families: Achieving Oral Health Equity, sought to confront oral health disparities by bringing attention to the differences between having equal access to oral healthcare versus having equitable opportunity to achieve good oral health outcomes across the lifespan.

  2. I just wanted to say that I just recently replaced my oral b electric toothbrush (the ~$25 one) after almost 10 years of use. The motor finally died, or at least was too weak to vibrate the brush head. Great toothbrush, no cavities, and it’ll last.
If you do, your dentist or dental hygienist may be too rough. Or in some cases, if you have exposed dentin or sore gum tissues, you may encounter discomfort. Kindly let your dentist know so she can be gentler and look for other issues that may need to be addressed.

We love using this and are getting great results. One thing we learned was that you shouldn’t rest in on the charger at night as that reduces the battery life dramatically. Instead, we just sit them on their flat bottoms on the counter and wait until the charge light is barely blinking (usually 4-5 weeks) and then put them on the charger overnight and you are good to go for another month.
The convention that Oral-B uses in naming their products can be quite confusing. Most recently it seems that they’ve taken strides to clean up their act but it’s possible that you may still encounter some difficulties. (Retailers slow to make corrections, overstock and discontinued items, etc…)
Take extra precautions if you have a compromised immune system or are particularly susceptible to illness. Even trace amounts of bacteria can be dangerous for those with compromised immune systems, so keeping your toothbrush disinfected is advisable.[19]
Under the bill, dental therapists would be required to graduate from an accredited dental program that awards master’s degrees in the field, pass a board approved clinical evaluation, and complete 2,500 hours (or 2 years) of practice under the direct supervision of a dentist.
