Sonicare Brush Heads Intercare Benefit

So we looked for, at minimum, brushes with a two-minute timer, but still wanted to test higher-end brushes to compare their usability against that of the simplest models. We eliminated brushes without rechargeable batteries because loose batteries are a hassle and a waste. We also eliminated models that were reviewed as loud or having either short battery life or a too-small range of compatible brush heads. If a brush was compatible with a wide range of brush heads, that was a small point in its favor.
We’d also suggest that 6 months out or so, even those people who originally enjoyed the novelty (yes, just novelty) of having more than one brushing mode to choose from have long since forgotten that these options exist, and likely even how to activate them.
A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Dental Hygiene offers a more thorough introduction to the field of dental science by including two years of clinical experience into its curriculum. The clinical component of the degree will train students in oral health assessments, oral disease examination, oral cancer screening procedures and filling and periodontal dressing removal and placement. Some B.S. programs may cover topics such as the administration of anesthetics and dental filling material placement. Some courses address dental science theory and may include:
While the toothbrush performed very well in terms of brushing, we did not see much improvement in regards to whitening. According to Philips, 2 weeks of brushing twice a day should have resulted in teeth being whitened by 2 shades. Unfortunately, our test cannot confirm these claims.
Online reviews – We looked at other peoples’ reviews for two reasons. First, to determine more or less what consumers think about the product. Second, to determine how many of the Amazon reviewers were genuine and how many received a product in return. This is important to us because it speaks about the integrity of the brand and the product. There are Amazon reviewers who make a living by leaving positive reviews for a variety of brands and we know how to spot them.
Thank you Tracy! As a hygienist I was hoping someone with some sense would comment on this ridiculous post. But who knows, maybe it really was meant to be a big joke? ? you gotta love the before and after pictures too. I’m pretty sure all that calculus just magically melted away with baking soda and orange peels. Why haven’t we just been using this home remedy all along? I work my fingers to the bone scraping this off all day long the hard way. Who knew??
The use of vinegar will slowly dissolve the calcified deposits. Therefore, yes it would remove them overtime. As would rubbing strawberries on your teeth and leave it there for 5 minutes before rinsing. They dissolve the calcified deposits with their respective weak acids, acetic acid for vinegar and citric acid for the strawberries.
If you want a powerful, yet gentle, clean, the Oral-B Pro-Health Clinical Pro-Flex Medium Toothbrush is right for you. It offers a superior clean thanks to two flexing sides that adjust to the curves and contours of your teeth. It cleans along the gumline, but is gentle on enamel and sensitive gums. It removes up to 93% of plaque in hard-to-reach areas and up to 34% more plaque along the gumline, ensuring a cleaner mouth and fresher breath. Kids’ toothbrushes: Our experts advised us to be realistic about how invested kids will be in dental care. Dr. Lawlor explained “kids aren’t going to be lasering in on technique and if you’re a busy parent, you may not have time to ensure they brush perfectly.” Our experts agreed that an electric toothbrush is a valuable tool because it can make up for the lack of brushing technique while kids learn to brush properly. Dr. Friedman explained that “an electric toothbrush is a great option due to the fact that young children don’t have the dexterity to brush with the right technique.” Beyond that, it’s simply about finding the toothbrush that encourages them to brush.
Brush Heads – Information about Sonicare brush heads, including: What styles of heads are available, in which sizes? Which heads can be used with which models? Comparative cleaning efficiency. How long does a brush head last? Screw-on vs. Click-on design. Standard vs. Compact sizes.
Electric toothbrushes cost about 10 times as much as a manual toothbrushes, and you have to replace the brush heads at the same frequency (every three months), each for about the same cost as a manual brush.
Fiber helps prevent overeating by making you feel full and helps to block fats and cholesterol. High fiber foods include corn, avocado, beans, whole grains, soybeans, lentils, pears, oatmeal, artichoke, peas, apples and nuts.
We love the Sonicare For Kids Sonic Electric Toothbrush electric toothbrush for taking the fuss out of brushing sessions. With bright colors, stickers, and a compatible phone app, it helps kids stay engaged while they brush. It even managed to make our young tester excited to brush again the next morning. A one-minute timer that gradually increases to two minutes will help your young ones get used to longer brushing periods, and we appreciate that the interactive features mean the brush teaches, rather than forces, better brushing habits. Kids will eventually outgrow it, but for $40 you can lay the groundwork for a future of healthy smiles.
In addition to achieving an associate’s degree in dental hygiene from an accredited institution, individuals interested in becoming dental hygienists must successfully pass a state-authorized licensure examination, as well as the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination. Generally, the national examination assesses a candidate’s knowledge of the practice of dental assisting, while state or regional examinations are typically designed to assess a hygienist’s clinical skills.
Until now, I have been dental flossing, then using a dental irrigator to clean the gum line, then wiped the surface of my teeth with a soft cotton cloth. This really kept my teeth clean, but I am new to your website – maybe it wasn’t good for my teeth. I don’t know…

When it comes to “whitening teeth” all any toothbrush can do is either: 1) Remove surface staining that has built up on the tooth’s surface (accomplished by the actual scrubbing action of the brush on the teeth) or 2) Prevent surface staining from forming (prevent the build up of debris on the tooth’s surface, which then stains – two separate events, that might occur concurrently).
Dentists diagnose and treat problems with patients’ teeth, gums, and related parts of the mouth. They provide advice and instruction on taking care of the teeth and gums and on diet choices that affect oral health.
I’m not a chemist so I’m not sure how much baking soda would be required to cancel out the effectiveness of the vinegar but since my recipe calls for just 2 tsp of baking soda there’s probably still enough vinegar left to do some disinfecting. The baking soda addition does add the bubbles which can assist is removing grime from the toothbrush. If someone is really, really concerned about maximizing the disinfecting aspect of the mixture, they could simply place them in the vinegar first and then add the baking soda later. This works for us and our family. We are rarely sick and have had no problems at all. There was a study put out by the University of Florida saying that the mixture was an effective cleaning agent but I can’t seem to find it anymore. Thanks for your comment, Serena.
Dental hygienists earned a median annual salary of $72,910 in 2016, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. On the low end, dental hygienists earned a 25th percentile salary of $60,500, meaning 75 percent earned more than this amount. The 75th percentile salary is $86,390, meaning 25 percent earn more. In 2016, 207,900 people were employed in the U.S. as dental hygienists.
While we love to dive into interesting, important and sometimes obscure topics like how oil pulling helps heal leaky gut and how smiling contributes to greater immune expression, today let’s go back to basics and discuss one of the most frequently asked questions we get around how to brush our teeth.
The field of dental hygiene is growing rapidly. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of dental hygienists is expected to increase by 38 percent between 2010 and 2020 – considerably faster than average.1 Plus, dental hygienists will always be in demand because people will always need their teeth to be cleaned!
For the person who commented about recurring strep throat…gargle with salt water – one part salt to 2 parts warm to hot but not boiling water. Gargle 3x per day for a couple days. The salt kills strep.
Pay by Experience for a Dental Hygienist has a positive trend. An entry-level Dental Hygienist with less than 5 years of experience can expect to earn an average total compensation of $63,000 based on 5,149 salaries provided by anonymous users. Average total compensation includes tips, bonus, and overtime pay. A Dental Hygienist with mid-career experience which includes employees with 5 to 10 years of experience can expect to earn an average total compensation of $69,000 based on 2,426 salaries. An experienced Dental Hygienist which includes employees with 10 to 20 years of experience can expect to earn an average total compensation of $71,000 based on 2,948 salaries. A Dental Hygienist with late-career experience which includes employees with greater than 20 years of experience can expect to earn an average total compensation of $73,000 based on 2,359 salaries.
Ease of using the brush: We also asked our testers to rate how easy the toothbrushes were to maneuver. We wanted toothbrushes that would help us maintain proper technique — holding the brush at a 45 degree angle to the gums with short tooth-wide strokes. Some, like the Jim Ellis, made our tester’s hand tired and came with a circular handle that was “difficult to maneuver or twist around.” (Note: we were curious about this comment, so we ran some additional tests on handle comfort and found that slightly more square handles — pretty standard for most models — are actually much easier to handle). Our testers reported that others, like the Fairywell, were “lighter and a bit less rounded so it was easier to maneuver around and hold for the duration of cleaning.”
We probably don’t need to tell you, but plaque is oral health enemy number one. During the day it builds up on and between your teeth. It leads to tartar, cavities and gum disease so you need to remove it daily to keep your teeth healthy.
This is what happened to me as well, sounded great at first but then all of these people are saying that they regret their choice of becoming a Dh. But then again, I’m sure every occupation will have the same type of opinions about it.
There is no proof that you even need to completely sanitize your toothbrush. So you may skip this step if you want to. If you are a little paranoid and just want to ensure that your toothbrush stays clean then sanitize it in solution about once a week.
Rotating brush heads generally oscillate back and forth, so the toothbrush makes the brushing motion for you. This means you can move the brush head from tooth to tooth without making the normal brushing movement, and the device’s own rotation does most of the cleaning for you. If you have mobility issues or arthritis, are easily fatigued, or have poor motor skills, an oscillating or rotating brush head reduces the effort required for cleaning. This is the type of brush Oral-B makes.
The best Oral-B models – Our narrative outlining how to figure out which model makes the best choice for you. It covers Oral-b features, which of them we think are important to have, and which models seem to offer a reasonable manifestation of them.
“This brush is one mighty little powerhouse. The last two motorized toothbrushes we received and paid more for were ‘gutless wonders.’ So I thought just to get a cheap one, and if it doesn’t work, well, no big deal. The SURPRISE, however, was that this model works better than I’d even hoped for. My spouse’s brush cost ten times what this one does and I cannot see that he gets anything more from his high-priced brush compared to my new one.”
Despite the lower battery life, this is still one of the best go-to budget electric toothbrushes currently available. Philips has clearly improved on the previous model by adding their favorite QuadPacer, SmarTimer, and EasyStart modes.

We applied the same buying model to the Sonicare line and tried not to buy brushes that were differentiated only by their unnecessary features. We also bought one high-end brush, the DiamondClean, to assess if the cleaning experience was $120 better. It was not.
It is possible that you can use any of the Sonicare brush heads with the sensitive cleaning mode on Sonicare brush handles but the clean and experience may not be as enjoyable if you suffer from sensitive gums.
The Oral-B Pro 1000 has a limited two-year warranty that requires the buyer to retain the receipt and ship the product to an authorized service center if it needs fixing. This is typical for a product in this price range and category.

  1. This affordable toothbrush is available in soft or medium varieties, depending on your preferences. The “soft” variety has firm bristles, so it is a hybrid between soft and medium. The colors in your pack of six toothbrushes will vary. This pack is one of the “most wished for” items on Amazon and has outstanding reviews online. Colgate also has great specialty toothbrushes, like the Colgate Max White Full Head Toothbrush with whitening benefits and the Colgate 360 Enamel Extra Soft Health Sensitive Toothbrush for sensitive teeth.
Sonicare brushes can offer up to 31,000 strokes per minute so the ProResults GUm Health head has been designed to take advantage of this to effectively clean tooth surfaces that bristles can reach and into deeper gaps between teeth.

I have never experienced electric tooth brushes until i come across this post. Anyhow i feel they are doing great in arriving at the corners, which would be useful than manual brushing. Your share truly helped me to come up with good knowledge. I generally lean toward the

  2. 2005 – PA 161 Dental hygienist: hygienists with grantee status can work in a public or nonprofit environment, a school or nursing home that administers dental care to a low-income population. Dentists collaborating with dental hygienists do not need to be present to authorize or administer treatment. However, dental hygienists must have the availability to communicate with a dentist in order to review patient records and establish emergency protocols. Hygienists need to apply to the state department of community health for grantee status.[43]
The Oral-B smartphone app is also available for the Pro 7000 model. At first, we were a bit skeptical about the effect that the app would have on brushing habits. But, after using the toothbrush for a week, we got really motivated to pursue that perfect score! In addition, the app is really easy to use, loads fast, and it appears to be bug-free.
In the past 8 years, at least 4 times I had SCALING done due to repeated depositioning of ugly brown layer especially in the interior areas of teeth because of smoking of Indian Bidi. This not only increased gap between each tooth but also lead to unbearable sensitivity.
As many others have already said, what I received appear to be either non-OEM brush heads, or were defective in some way. In my case, the bristles looked like they had been lopped off with a pair of scissors – they were less than 1/4 of an inch long and cut in a very irregular fashion. Brown cardboard packaging may or may not be from Philips… I will steer clear of these in the future. Thanks Amazon for the refund.

  3. “Excellent toothbrush!!!!!! I had one of these years ago. It died, then I went to an off-brand electric until it died. What a mistake. I purchased this brand again. What a difference in the way your teeth feel after brushing. Super clean. If you’re a heavy coffee drinker like I am, then you need this brush. Excellent!!!!! I don’t think it’s rough as some of the other reviewers claim. It’s an electric, and it works really well. Even if it dies after a year’s use, I’d buy another quickly. Your dentist will love you for it. And long-term, it may just save your teeth for old age. Cheaper to replace this brush than to have expensive dental work done, in my opinion. Take care of your teeth. You’ll need them a long time!! Would I purchase again??? You bet.”
That salary information is wrong! I’ve been a dental hygienist for ten years and on average, a full time, 32 hours per week, hygienist makes about 42,000$ per year. It’s a bad career choice with no way out. The statement that hygienists are in demand in also incorrect. In most of the southeastern states the market is saturated. Too many hygienists! Dentists won’t advertise job openings anymore because they get hit with so many applicants!
We’d take that as evidence that consumers generally didn’t find it to be an especially important feature or good value. We had always stated on our pages that we saw no purpose for it. We based our opinion on that of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) whose website states that toothbrush sterilization holds little benefit.
Each state requires dental hygienists to be licensed, and requirements vary by state. For most, licensure requires a degree from an accredited dental hygiene program and passing written and clinical exams administered by the American Dental Association’s (ADA) Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations.
Fading reminder bristles are present to help you recognise when it is time to change the head (recommendation of every 3 months).  But better still, if using a Smart Sonicare brush handle the brush will monitor how often the head is used and how hard you brush and remind you at precisely the right time to change.
When you first wear braces you will likely be told the importance of cleaning effectively around braces to avoid staining of when it comes to removal.  The natures of braces offers up lots of areas for small food particles to stick to.
Much like other higher end Philips toothbrushes, this model gradually increases the brushing intensity. This allows the user to get used to the brush over time. This feature is especially helpful if you are switching from a manual toothbrush. The first couple of brushes with this Sonicare model felt like tickling. I was not sure if I was doing enough, and yet my teeth felt really polished.
Picked up this unit a few weeks after a dental cleaning. After 5 1/2 months of using it the tartar that would normally be on the back of my lower incisors was virtually nonexistent. The dental hygienist probably spent half the time she normally does scraping and picking. She noticed a big difference.
Bluetooth technology allows for a 2-way communication between the toothbrush and your smartphone. Given you have downloaded the Oral-B app beforehand. However, it also helps you drain the battery dead quicker than the advertised 10 days. As a matter of fact, we only got it to work for 8 days straight.

These are excellent replacement brush heads for the Sonicare toothbrush. I tried an off-brand replacement before that did not fit the toothbrush. These fit perfectly and very snug! I’ve been using it for about a week now and I’m still very pleased with my purchase. They are a little softer than I’m use to, but I don’t mind…especially when consider that an 8-pack is only $14 compared to a 2-pack of the Sonicate brand for between $20-$30! If you’re looking for a high-quality, inexpensive replacement, look no further.
The most distinguishing feature of the Foreo is the brush head that uses antibacterial silicon bristles. The rubbery silicone nubs not only feel great against your teeth and gums, but they also last up to 3 times longer than standard brush heads that use nylon bristles. The difference between the regular Issa model and the Hybrid series is that the latter uses a combination of silicon and PBT polymer.
These heads screw-on rather than snap in place (the only model in our Best list to use this type). This design tends to accumulate gunk and makes the brush slightly less convenient to use if it’s shared. [More details.]
It’s up to us to move the saliva around our mouths to remineralize all our teeth rather than give the microbes hanging around our lower teeth such easy pickings for the minerals to build their plaque condos. We made a video tutorial called ‘Mouth Probiotics’ that details how to use saliva to optimize our oral health.
I very rarely floss. I know I should, but I don’t do it often. After switching to this brush, dentists have not told me that it looks like I don’t floss anymore! I am NOT saying you can avoid flossing by using this brush, but I take it to mean that it does a way better job than my old manual toothbrush ever did
Several weeks ago the base unit’s UV light ceased working. While the base unit was still charging the handle just fine, it was no longer cleaning it. I received a new replacement only after sending my existing unit back. I would have liked to have continued using the original unit while I waited for the new one to arrive, but that was a minor inconvenience.

  5. As a high school student, however, I still have a couple of concerns. Would it be a good idea to go to dental school and enter this field if you’ve never liked math? How math heavy or not math heavy would the courses be? Also, what is the job satisfaction for most dental hygienists? (I can imagine working in people’s mouths isn’t always exactly what one might consider to be glamorous!)
The pressure sensor is meant to alert the user when they are brushing too hard, something that dentists and experts agree is a bad thing. In theory, then, a pressure sensor can be good. However, in our testing, we found that some brushes with pressure sensors required the user to bear down very hard on their teeth before the alert would trigger. The amount of pressure a user can apply before the sensor discourages them suggests the available pressure sensors are more of a gimmick than an actual useful feature.
Women make up the vast majority of Dental Hygienists in the United States. The average pay in this industry is approximately $33.16 per hour. With bonuses and profit sharing proceeds each occasionally running north of $5K and a few commissions that surpass $19K, total incomes for Dental Hygienists generally vary between $48K and $88K according to individual performance. The most important factor affecting compensation for this group is residence, followed by the company and experience level. Job satisfaction is high and work is enjoyable for most Dental Hygienists. About one in three report receiving medical coverage from their employers and roughly two-fifths collect dental insurance. The information for this snapshot was generated by responses to the PayScale salary survey.
