Privately labeled models – China has begun to manufacture knockoffs of the better-known toothbrush brands. A lot of sellers have begun importing these generic products and give them private labels, such as Joe’s Super Brush. Okay, this is a bad example, but you do get what I mean. Such products are untested and most definitely not ADA approved. As such, they are usually cheaper, come with fewer warranties and guarantees, if any, and could even be dangerous to use.

Just went on vacation and was battling the beginning of a cold. Did everything you can think of not to be sick on vacation and I conquered it and was great all through vacation. My son was prescribed a zpack before we left and took it starting a day before we left and immediately got better. FYI I took a diff toothbrush on trip. When I got back 2 weeks later (brushed with toothbrush I had at home) and my throat started hurting exactly how it had two weeks before and ended up having to take a zpack 1.5 weeks later to get rid of it. After reading this post I think it was my toothbrush. I store it in a plastic open container in a drawer so it is not upright and it is dark and now I see that bacteria can live 2 weeks in the dark and I live in a very humid area so very well could have been my toothbrush!!! Chlorhexidine gluconate is an antiseptic mouthrinse that should only be used in two-week time periods due to brown staining on the teeth and tongue. Compared to essential oils, it is more efficacious in controlling plaque levels, but has no better effect on gingivitis and is therefore generally used for post-surgical wound healing or the short-term control of plaque.
Use a mouthwash that targets plaque. Though plaque-busting mouthwashes are not effective enough to remove plaque all by themselves, when used as part of a teeth cleaning routine involving brushing and flossing, they can help to loosen plaque, while giving you minty-fresh breath in the process.

Self help is the best. I personally follow a dental routine of brushing and mouth wash, but twice a week use baking soda and have recently added hydrogen peroxide which I intend to use once a week. My dentist says he loves the state of my teeth and gum..my nephew who is a dentist is totally against polishing teeth and believes it will damage the teeth in the long run. of course those in the field throw their hands up in the sky but the proof of the pudding is in the pie! if those who have used Baking soda for years have perfectly healthy teeth, who are they to suggest it is harmful!

I’m a dental hygienist and have worked in areas volunteering including in shelters where people cannot afford “regular” dental visits. But please please do not run anything acidic on your teeth and leave it there for it to scientifically proven eat away at your teeth. Baking soda does have a toothpaste but large amounts causes microabrasions in the teeth, potentially causing tooth damage and increased staining. Light toothbrushing half on the tooth half on the gums with a basic fluoridated toothpaste , floss, and listerine mouth rinse will do the tricks. These are scientifically proven recommendations. Tartar builds up from increased minerals in the saliva, it’s natural but it also builds up underneath the gums which staying there for years can cause bone loss and infection in the body. Try to go if you can save up the 120 cleaning at least once a year, and if not do your best but be careful wielding sharp picks in your mouth it took me three years of school to learn that skill 😉
High ”bad” cholesterol and low ”good” cholesterol. High levels of ”bad” cholesterol, or low-density lipoprotein (LDL), are major contributors to arterial plaque formation.
